The best alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S26 depends on what you want to spend and what you value most: choose the Google Pixel 10 for Google’s Android experience and longer telephoto reach, the OnePlus 13R for battery and value, a Galaxy S25 model to stay with Samsung for less, or an iPhone 17 if you prefer iOS. For a tighter budget, consider the Pixel 10a and compare current prices on other midrange phones.
Use the S26 as a reference, not a default winner. Samsung lists a 6.3-inch display, 167 g weight, 4,300 mAh battery, 12 GB memory and 256 GB or 512 GB storage; its processor varies by market. TechRadar reported a US starting price of $899 for 256 GB when the S26 launched in 2026. Prices and stock can change, so check live unlocked listings for the same storage tier before buying. Compare the same storage and real unlocked price
Start with the configuration you would actually buy. The Pixel 10’s listed $799 price is for 128 GB, while its 256 GB version was listed at $899. Compare like-for-like storage against the S26’s 256 GB starting configuration, and distinguish a manufacturer’s MSRP or starting price from a temporary retailer discount. A low advertised price may also depend on a seller, promotion or limited configuration.

Choose the platform before the feature list
The Pixel offers Google’s Android interface, Samsung uses One UI, and the iPhone runs iOS. Consider where your photos, messages, subscriptions, passwords and accessories already live. Switching can involve moving data, changing default services and replacing accessories; a phone that looks cheaper on a spec sheet may not be the simplest or lowest-cost change for your setup.
Match the phone to how you use it
- Camera: Think about zoom, ultrawide photos and video—not megapixels alone. The Pixel 10 has a 5x telephoto, compared with the S26’s 3x optical telephoto. That makes the Pixel a sensible candidate if distant subjects matter, but it does not establish that every Pixel camera result is better.
- Battery and charging: OnePlus lists a 6,000 mAh battery and 80 W wired charging for the 13R, versus 4,300 mAh for the S26. Battery capacity does not predict runtime by itself; screen, processor, software and usage matter. The 13R comparison also identifies the absence of wireless charging as a compromise.
- Size and handling: Samsung lists the S26 at 6.3 inches and 167 g. Those figures are useful reference points, but compare full dimensions and weight for any alternative you plan to carry.
- Durability and support: The cited comparison gives the OnePlus 13R an IP65 rating and the S26 IP68, and says the 13R receives four major Android OS upgrades. Check the manufacturer’s current support policy for your exact model and region before purchase; policies and availability can differ.
- Magnetic accessories: TechRadar says the S26 supports Qi2 but has no built-in magnets, so magnetic accessories require a magnet-equipped case. Check accessory compatibility for whichever phone you choose.

Best alternatives by buyer
Google Pixel 10: for Google software and longer zoom
Android Authority recommends the Pixel 10 for buyers who are not committed to Samsung’s ecosystem. It highlights Google’s interface and AI features as possible attractions, alongside the 5x telephoto. Treat software preference as personal: a reviewer’s preference for Pixel is not a universal ranking. With the 2026 listed prices at $799 for 128 GB and $899 for 256 GB, the Pixel is most compelling when its software and zoom suit you—not simply because it is assumed to cost less. Android Authority also mentioned an Amazon price as low as $675 at the time of its article; that is a historical sale snapshot, not a dependable current offer. Source and pricing context

At a listed $599.99 MSRP, the 13R is the value-oriented option for buyers willing to trade some flagship features for a lower price. Android Authority highlights its 6,000 mAh battery, 80 W wired charging, bright, sharp display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance. The same comparison flags a weaker ultrawide camera, IP65 rather than IP68, no wireless charging and four major Android OS upgrades. Android Authority said OnePlus no longer sold it directly and that third-party retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy might have it for $600 or less at the time of publication. Check seller, condition, configuration and current regional support before committing; availability and price are volatile. Source and availability context

Galaxy S25: for Samsung users who want a Galaxy flagship for less
Android Authority listed the S25 at $799.99 MSRP and describes it as still capable. It has a 6.2-inch display and 4,000 mAh battery according to that comparison. Whether it beats buying an S26 depends on the actual price gap, storage configuration and how much you value the newer model; check current Samsung and retailer listings rather than treating the MSRP as a live quote. Source
Galaxy S25 FE: a lower-priced route into Samsung
Android Authority listed the S25 FE at $650 for 128 GB and $710 for 256 GB. It has a 120 Hz AMOLED display and Exynos 2400, but the comparison describes it as a downgrade from the S26 in several areas. The same article recalled a past $450 Samsung promotion; do not assume that offer is still available. Consider the FE if its current price and Samsung experience matter more to you than matching the S26’s higher-tier feature set. Source and historical promotion context

iPhone 17: for buyers who prefer iOS
TechRadar lists the iPhone 17 at a $799 starting price and describes it as comparable to the S26 in size, performance, battery life and camera quality in its review assessment. The consequential difference is platform: iPhone 17 runs iOS, not Android. If you already use Apple services and devices, that may be a reason to switch; if your apps, accessories or daily workflow depend on Android, weigh migration before comparing headline specifications. What about other inexpensive phones?
Nothing Phone (3a) can be another name to investigate, but its reported US price needs careful qualification. Front Desk Review’s comparison, updated October 2, 2026, put it at $379 through Nothing’s US Beta/Developer Program. That is the publisher’s dated snapshot for a program, not an established general retail price or a recommendation. Quick Recap
Before you buy
- Set a budget and storage target. Compare unlocked prices for the same capacity; note whether a figure is MSRP, starting price or a short-term offer.
- Confirm the exact model and region. Processor, configuration, warranty, network compatibility and software policy can vary by market. Samsung says the S26 processor is Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy or Exynos 2600 depending on market.
- Check the current listing. Confirm the seller, new or refurbished condition, storage, return terms and stock directly with the manufacturer or retailer.
- Prioritize a real need. Pick the Pixel for Google’s experience or zoom, OnePlus for charging and battery capacity, a Galaxy S25 for continuity with Samsung, or iPhone for iOS. Choose a lower-cost phone only after confirming the compromises fit your use.
