Short answer: On Samsung, the closest documented replacement for Pixel Call Screen is the newer Galaxy Call screening feature within Call Assist, particularly on Galaxy S26. It can answer suspected spam, phishing, or unknown calls, ask the caller who they are and why they are calling, and let you decide whether to continue. On supported older models, Bixby Text Call is useful when you want to communicate by typing instead of speaking, but it is not an automatic spam filter. Samsung’s Phone app also provides caller ID, spam/scam warnings, and number blocking. There is no universal Samsung equivalent to Pixel’s Hold for Me documented in the available Samsung material.
What Samsung offers instead of Pixel Call Screen
Samsung’s answer depends on which Galaxy model, One UI version, language, country, and carrier you use. The feature that most closely matches Pixel Call Screen is Samsung’s newer automatic Call screening option, documented for Galaxy S26. It is designed to deal with suspected spam, phishing, and unknown callers before you commit to the conversation.

Samsung also has two related but different tools:
- Bixby Text Call lets an AI voice speak for you while you type replies.
- Caller ID and spam protection identifies, blocks, or filters unwanted numbers through the Phone app.
Those tools should not be treated as interchangeable. Automatic screening decides how to handle a call before you answer. Text Call is a user-initiated way to handle a call silently. Spam controls generally warn, block, or filter numbers; they do not necessarily conduct a conversation with the caller.

How automatic screening works
Galaxy S26 support documentation describes automatic screening for suspected spam, phishing, or unknown calls. When the feature handles an incoming call, an assistant answers, asks who is calling and why, and presents the response so you can decide what to do. Instead of interrupting you for every unfamiliar number, the phone gives you information first.

This is conceptually close to Pixel Call Screen because the assistant interacts with the caller before you speak. The practical workflow is still different from phone to phone: Samsung’s documentation ties automatic screening to particular Galaxy models and software, while Pixel’s Call Assist documentation describes its own decision process. Do not assume that a Galaxy phone without the documented Call screening option will silently interrogate every unknown caller.
What it can screen
The documented Galaxy S26 capability covers three broad categories:
- Suspected spam calls
- Suspected phishing calls
- Unknown callers
“Unknown” does not mean “fraudulent.” A legitimate business, doctor, delivery driver, or new contact can also be unknown. Screening is therefore a triage tool, not proof that a caller is malicious.

What you decide after the assistant responds
After the assistant asks the caller for their identity and purpose, you can choose whether to take the call, continue listening, or reject it. The point is to move the decision later, after you have context, rather than forcing you to answer immediately.
Availability limits
Samsung states that Call Assist and Call screening availability can vary by model, One UI version, supported language, country, and carrier. A Galaxy S26 purchased in one market can therefore expose different call options from the same model sold elsewhere. A software update can also add, rename, or remove menu items.
Bixby Text Call: the best fallback when you cannot speak
What Text Call does
Bixby Text Call places an AI voice between you and the caller. The assistant speaks to the caller, while you read the conversation and type responses on the screen. It is useful in meetings, noisy environments, quiet public places, or any situation in which you want to answer without using your voice.

Samsung Research describes Bixby Text Call as a text-mediated way to handle an incoming call and notes that, at the time of its description, Google’s Screen Call on Pixel was the only point of comparison on the market. Samsung also distinguishes the intended use cases: Pixel Screen Call is presented primarily as a robocall and spam filter, whereas Bixby Text Call is designed for situations when the owner cannot or does not want to speak.
What Text Call does not do
Text Call is not a complete replacement for Pixel’s automatic spam workflow. You normally initiate it for a call you want to handle through text; it is not the same as having the phone independently screen every unknown number and make a spam decision. It also is not a Hold for Me feature: it does not wait on a company’s queue and alert you when a representative becomes available.
Requirements
Samsung Research specifies a Galaxy device running One UI 5.1 or later. Language and regional support vary, so meeting the software requirement does not guarantee that Text Call will appear or work in your location. Samsung’s later Call Assist documentation adds model and carrier qualifications for related call features.
Galaxy S25 as an example
A Galaxy S25 can be considered for Bixby Text Call only when the feature is enabled for that model, your installed One UI release, language, country, and carrier. The model name alone is not a guarantee. Check the Phone app and Samsung’s support information for your exact sales region before buying on the assumption that Text Call will be available.
Samsung caller ID, spam protection, and blocking
Caller identification
The Samsung Phone app includes caller-ID controls that can identify numbers when information is available. This helps you recognize businesses and known nuisance callers before answering, but identification is not the same as a verified identity. Spoofed numbers and newly reported scams can still appear unfamiliar or misleading.

Spam and scam filtering
Samsung documents controls for blocking spam or scam calls. Depending on the model and carrier, you may be able to warn about, filter, or block calls that match the service’s risk signals. These controls are useful on Galaxy phones that do not have automatic Call screening, but they generally stop at identification or blocking rather than asking the caller questions.

Blocking a specific number
You can also block individual numbers from the Phone app. This is the most predictable option for repeat nuisance callers, but it is reactive: it helps after you have identified a number, and it may not stop a scammer who changes numbers.
Why spam protection is not Call Screen
Samsung’s caller-ID and spam controls answer “Should I be cautious about this number?” Call screening answers “Who is calling and why?” Those are complementary layers. A Galaxy phone can warn you about a suspicious number without conducting an AI conversation, and it can offer Text Call without automatically classifying every unknown call as spam.
Is there a Samsung equivalent to Pixel Hold for Me?
Pixel Hold for Me waits on hold, monitors the call, and alerts you when a representative is ready. The Pixel feature is specifically about removing the time spent listening to queue music.
The Samsung material covered here documents automatic screening, Bixby Text Call, transcription-related functions, caller ID, spam protection, and blocking. It does not establish a universal Samsung Hold for Me equivalent. You should therefore treat Hold for Me as a capability gap when comparing a Galaxy phone with a Pixel.
A particular carrier service or third-party application could offer a similar queue-monitoring function, but availability would need to be verified separately for your country, carrier, and handset. Do not buy a Galaxy expecting the standard Samsung Phone app to wait on hold automatically unless your exact setup documents that feature.

Which Galaxy should you choose?
Choose Galaxy S26 for the closest automatic screening
If your priority is a Samsung phone that can screen suspected spam, phishing, and unknown calls before you answer, Galaxy S26 is the clearest documented choice. Its support material directly describes automatic Call screening within Call Assist. Confirm that your country, carrier, preferred language, and software build support the feature before purchase.

Choose a supported One UI 5.1-or-newer Galaxy for typed conversations
If you mainly need to handle calls silently, prioritize Bixby Text Call. A supported Galaxy running One UI 5.1 or later can let you type while an AI voice speaks. This is especially practical when you want to communicate with a real caller but cannot talk. Verify regional and language support; the feature is not guaranteed solely by the One UI version.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose based on spam controls when your budget or model limits the options
Many Galaxy phones can still provide useful caller ID, spam or scam warnings, and number blocking even when automatic Call screening is unavailable. These controls are worthwhile for reducing nuisance calls, but they do not deliver the same pre-answer conversation as Call Assist.
Keep Pixel on your shortlist if Hold for Me is essential
If your main goal is avoiding long customer-service queues, Pixel has the clearer documented advantage because Hold for Me is explicitly designed for that task. Samsung’s standard documentation does not establish a universal equivalent, so a Galaxy purchase should not be based on an assumption that one exists.
How to check your Galaxy before relying on these features
Check the software version
- Open Settings and view the phone’s software information.
- Confirm the installed One UI version. Bixby Text Call requires One UI 5.1 or newer according to Samsung Research.
- Install available system and Phone app updates, then check the call settings again.
Look for Call Assist and Call screening
- Open the Phone app.
- Open its Settings menu.
- Look for Call Assist, Call screening, or similarly labeled call-assistance options.
- Read the availability notice shown for your SIM, carrier, language, and country. If the option is absent, do not assume it can be enabled by changing a general spam setting.
Look for Text call
- In the Phone app settings, find Text call or Bixby Text Call.
- Review the supported language and voice choices offered on your device.
- Test the feature with someone you know before using it for an important call, so you understand what the caller hears and how typed replies are delivered.
Configure spam and blocking controls
- Open the Phone app settings and find the caller-ID, spam, or scam-protection section.
- Enable the warnings or filtering options your carrier and model provide.
- Use the number-blocking command for repeat nuisance callers.
- Check the blocked-call behavior afterward; some configurations reject calls outright, while others send them to a filtered or separate view.
Menu wording and placement can change between One UI releases. If a setting described in Samsung support is missing, check the model-specific support page and carrier documentation rather than treating the absence as a malfunction.

Feature availability is not uniform
There is no single “Samsung call screening” experience shared by every Galaxy phone. Model, One UI version, language, country, and carrier can each affect whether Call Assist, Text Call, caller ID, or spam filtering appears. Imported phones and devices using a different carrier firmware are particularly likely to show different options.
Screening is not a guarantee of safety
An assistant’s response can help you triage a call, but it cannot prove that the caller is genuine. Never provide passwords, one-time codes, payment details, or remote-access permission solely because a caller passed a screening conversation. Contact a company through a number you already trust when a call concerns money, account access, or identity verification.

Language and accessibility considerations
Text Call can be valuable when speaking is difficult or impossible, but the usefulness of its voice, transcription, and typed-response behavior depends on supported languages. Test pronunciation, names, and specialist vocabulary before relying on it for medical, legal, or urgent conversations.
Understand what each tool is for
- Use Call screening to gather information before deciding whether to answer.
- Use Bixby Text Call when you want a mediated conversation without speaking.
- Use caller ID and spam controls to identify, warn about, filter, or block unwanted numbers.
- Use Hold for Me on a supported Pixel when waiting for a representative is the problem you need solved.
A practical decision checklist
Before choosing a Galaxy model for call handling, answer these questions:
- Do you need automatic screening of unknown calls, or only a warning and block list?
- Do you need to type replies while an AI voice speaks?
- Is waiting on hold for a customer-service representative your main frustration?
- Does your preferred language appear in the feature’s settings?
- Will your carrier and country enable the service on the exact model you plan to use?
- Are you willing to test the feature before trusting it for important calls?
If the first answer is yes, start with Galaxy S26 and verify regional support. If the second is yes, look for Bixby Text Call on a One UI 5.1-or-newer Galaxy. If the third is yes, Pixel remains the better-documented fit because Samsung has no universal Hold for Me equivalent established here.
