For toilet paper and a few small essentials, start with a running belt that has a secure zip pocket and enough usable space for the way you plan to pack the tissue. Choose a hydration belt if you also need water and fuel, or a larger running belt for more storage. No product specifications reviewed here confirm that a particular amount of toilet paper will fit, so compare pocket dimensions and test your loaded setup before relying on it on a long run.
What to look for in a running belt
Think about the packed item, not just the belt’s advertised capacity. A roll, folded sheets, and a small packet of wipes take up different amounts of space. Check whether the pocket’s usable dimensions accommodate your chosen form while still allowing keys, a phone, or other essentials to stay secure.

- Pocket and closure: A zip pocket helps contain small items. Check the opening and interior dimensions, not only the total volume.
- Fit and bounce: Follow the maker’s sizing guidance and test the belt with its intended load. Decathlon warns that carrying more than the designed load may make items less secure and more likely to jiggle.
- Hydration: Check bottle capacity and whether bottles or flasks are included. These details vary by model.
- Weather treatment: Water-repellent is not the same as waterproof. Do not assume a belt will keep paper or electronics dry.
Running belts compared
| Model | Published storage and hydration | Useful for | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASICS Runners Waistbelt | Two 300 ml bottles, one mesh pocket, one zip pocket, and an adjustable band. ASICS product listing | Short or moderate runs when you want bottles and room for small essentials. | The listing does not state usable pocket dimensions or toilet-paper capacity. |
| Nike 22 oz Flex Stride | 22 oz bottle, zip pocket, adjustable buckle, and built-in expanders. Nike product listing | A straightforward hydration belt with a pocket for small essentials. | The page includes an individual customer review reporting bottle leakage while running; this is a customer report, not verified product-wide testing. The listing does not specify toilet-paper capacity. |
| The North Face Run Belt | 1 liter (61 cubic inches), zippered main compartment, internal organization, and a water-repellent description. The North Face product listing | A compact belt whose listing gives a volume and describes weather treatment. | Water repellent does not mean waterproof, and the listing does not say how much tissue fits. |
| Decathlon Kiprun Hydration Flask-Carrying Running Belt | 0.8 L volume, two soft flasks up to 250 ml each, and space for six gels; the UK page lists seven hip-circumference sizes. Decathlon UK product listing | Runners who want hydration and organized gel storage in a fitted belt. | The page says it is not waterproof and cautions that excess load may jiggle or be less secure. Sizing and availability are specific to the UK listing. |
| Brooks Cascadia Running Belt | Four pockets and 2 L volume; designed to carry a 500 ml soft flask, sold separately. Brooks product listing | Trail or longer-run use when you want more storage for hydration and fuel. | Its larger total volume does not prove that a bulky or full roll will fit comfortably. |
Which type fits your run?
For tissue and a few small essentials
Choose a slim belt with a zip pocket if you do not need to carry water in the belt. Confirm the pocket can hold the tissue in its packed form without forcing the zipper or crowding other items. A small resealable pouch can keep tissue contained, but it still needs to fit inside the belt securely.

Pick a hydration belt based on the bottle capacity and pocket layout you actually need. The ASICS and Nike options include bottles in their listed configurations; Brooks specifies a compatible 500 ml flask that is sold separately. Decathlon’s UK Kiprun listing specifies two flasks of up to 250 ml each and space for six gels.

For more storage
The North Face lists 1 liter of volume for its Run Belt, while Brooks lists 2 liters for the Cascadia Running Belt. Those figures describe total listed volume, not a guaranteed toilet-paper fit or the dimensions of any one pocket. Check the product’s current measurements and test the exact load.
How to pack toilet paper without compromising the fit
- Choose the form: Decide whether to carry a few folded sheets, a compacted portion of a roll, or a wipes packet.
- Measure the packed item: Check its dimensions against the manufacturer’s pocket measurements. If the listing provides only total volume, it cannot establish whether the item fits a particular pocket.
- Load the other essentials: Add the phone, keys, or fuel you expect to carry, then close every pocket without stretching or forcing it.
- Test while moving: Walk and run with the loaded belt. Adjust the fit or reduce the load if contents shift, bounce, or make the belt feel insecure.
Weather and fit cautions
Do not treat different weather claims as interchangeable. The North Face describes its Run Belt as water repellent; Decathlon’s UK Kiprun page says “waterproof: no waterproof.” Neither statement establishes that tissue will stay dry in every condition. If dryness matters, use suitable separate protection and check the product’s current specifications.

Online running discussions include anecdotal mentions of carrying toilet paper on longer runs and wipes in a vest or belt. They show that runners ask about the practice, but they do not establish how common it is, what amount works best, or which belt performs best. No comparative product testing or product listing cited here confirms a specific toilet-paper capacity.
