If you want the closest documented follow-up to P.T., start with Visage: its developer explicitly says the game was heavily inspired by P.T. For other psychological horror recommendations, choose by what you want to carry forward—haunted-house unease, environmental tricks, existential dread, reality distortion, or vulnerable first-person play. Those similarities do not make every game below a direct successor.

Which game is closest to P.T.?

Visage: the clearest documented influence

Visage is the strongest choice if you want a first-person haunted-house experience and a documented link to P.T.. SadSquare Studio describes it as a first-person survival/psychological horror game set in a house with a terrible history, and says it was “heavily inspired by the brilliant and matchless P.T.” That is the developer’s account of its influences, not a claim that the games are identical.

The house is central to the experience: the story unfolds through images and fragments of memory, with layered storylines and randomized gameplay elements. That combination makes Visage a fit for players who valued P.T.’s oppressive setting and gradual unease more than a straightforward action-horror loop. SadSquare’s official page lists the original release for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4; check the relevant regional store for the edition and platform you intend to play.

Choose by the part of P.T. you want more of

Game Best fit if you want How it relates to P.T.
Visage First-person haunted-house dread and fragmented story Developer-confirmed inspiration
Luto Environmental unease and a house that obstructs or misleads Editorial comparison; not established as a direct successor
Silent Hill 2 Psychological narrative and symbolic horror Broader genre recommendation
SOMA Existential questions and vulnerability Broader genre recommendation
Alan Wake 2 Story-led horror and reality distortion Broader genre recommendation
Signalis Dreamlike identity horror Broader genre recommendation
Amnesia: The Dark Descent Helplessness, darkness, and psychological pressure Broader genre recommendation; also cited by Visage’s developer as an influence

Luto: environmental tricks and house-bound dread

Luto is a first-person option if what stayed with you was the sense that the environment itself was wrong. PC Gamer compares its house-based obstruction and environmental tricks with P.T.-inspired horror, while distinguishing its level of overt terror from Visage. Treat that as a resemblance in approach, not evidence of a direct lineage.

Silent Hill 2: symbolic, story-driven psychological horror

Silent Hill 2 is a broader psychological-horror recommendation for players drawn to disturbing symbolism and a narrative that invites interpretation. It is not presented here as a P.T. successor; choose it for its psychological storytelling rather than for a repeated-room format.

SOMA: existential dread

SOMA shifts the setting to an underwater facility and centers its horror on questions of identity and consciousness. Its limited reliance on combat helps keep attention on vulnerability and the implications of what the story reveals. Pick it when the philosophical unease matters more to you than a haunted house.

Alan Wake 2: reality distortion and narrative horror

Alan Wake 2 is a story-led choice built around two protagonists and reality-bending presentation. It is a better match for readers who want unsettling shifts between story and reality than for those seeking P.T.’s confined domestic setting.

Signalis: dreamlike identity horror

Signalis pairs a retro presentation with dreamlike themes of identity collapse. Its appeal is the disorienting, surreal psychological atmosphere, rather than a close match to P.T.’s perspective or setting.

  • Second Awakening: Return to the realm of death in the Necrophosis: Subconsciousness expansion. Explore new landscapes, entities, and story as your journey leads ever deeper. Includes Bonus Game – The Shore: Andrew ventures into the unknown to find his lost daughter, exploring a forbidden island of nightmarish entities and solving puzzles that test his sanity.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent: vulnerability and helplessness

Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts darkness, vulnerability, and psychological pressure at the center of its horror. It is a useful pick if the feeling of being exposed and unable to rely on force was what made P.T. effective for you. SadSquare also names Amnesia among the influences on Visage.

How to narrow the list

  • Want the closest documented link? Choose Visage.
  • Want the house and its surroundings to create the unease? Try Luto, or Visage for a more overtly terrifying experience.
  • Want psychological story and symbolism? Choose Silent Hill 2.
  • Want existential questions? Choose SOMA.
  • Want reality to feel unstable? Choose Alan Wake 2.
  • Want dreamlike identity horror? Choose Signalis.
  • Want to feel vulnerable in the dark? Choose Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Presentation, combat, and platform also matter: these games are not all first-person or set in houses, and their emphasis ranges from environmental dread to story and existential themes. Check the store for your region before buying; availability can vary by platform and edition, and the cited recommendation coverage does not establish current storefront availability for every title.
