The best PS5 setup for Disney•Pixar Toy Story 3 starts with your television’s Game or low-latency picture mode and the PS5’s automatic video output. From there, use the console’s accessibility controls to improve text size, contrast, color separation, motion comfort, channel balance and captions.
The PlayStation Store lists this release for PS4 and PS5 on March 14, 2025. It is a conversion of the PSP version with up-rendering, rewind, quick save and custom video filters. The listing does not publish a complete in-game display, audio or accessibility menu, so the settings below distinguish confirmed Toy Story 3 features from PS5-level assistance.

What the PS5 release of Toy Story 3 includes
Before changing settings, it helps to understand what this version actually is. The PlayStation Store describes it as Disney•Pixar Toy Story 3 originally released on the PSP system, adapted for PS4 and PS5. The store listing gives the release date as March 14, 2025.

| Platforms | PS4 and PS5 | You are using a console release rather than a newly built PS5-native edition. |
| Source version | Converted from the PSP version | Menus, text and presentation may retain the design of the portable original. |
| Enhancements named by the store | Up-rendering, rewind, quick save and custom video filters | These can improve presentation or convenience, but the listing does not provide their complete menus or recommended values. |
| System requirement | The PS5 may require current system software | Install available console updates if the game will not start or asks for a system update. |
| Feature compatibility | Some PS4 features may be absent on PS5 | Do not assume every PS4 function or peripheral behavior is reproduced on PS5. |
The storefront page does not provide a detailed accessibility-tag list, a full list of game-native audio sliders, or a complete display-settings inventory. Consequently, a PS5 option such as Text Size or Mono Audio should be treated as a console aid, not proof that Toy Story 3 has an equivalent switch inside its own menus.

Set a reliable baseline before changing accessibility options
Start from a neutral configuration so you can tell whether a change helps. A picture mode designed for low latency usually avoids extra television processing that can soften a retro conversion or add delay to controls.
- Choose the television’s Game or low-latency picture mode. The exact label varies by television. Avoid stacking motion interpolation, artificial sharpness or other cinema processing while you are diagnosing readability or input feel.
- Leave PS5 video output on Automatic initially. This lets the console negotiate a compatible signal with the television. The Toy Story 3 listing confirms up-rendering, but it does not prescribe an HDR mode, brightness level, sharpness value or resolution override.
- Launch the game and observe a normal menu, gameplay scene and any text-heavy screen. Check the smallest text you expect to read rather than judging only the title screen.
- Keep a short test save available. The PS5 release includes quick save, so you can return to the same point while comparing one change at a time.
- Change only one setting per test. If you enable several filters and accessibility controls together, you will not know which one solved the problem or introduced a new one.
If the picture already looks clear and comfortable, stop at this baseline. Accessibility options are most useful when they solve a specific difficulty; stronger processing is not automatically better.
Improve visibility and reading comfort
PS5 system controls are the most dependable way to address text size, contrast, color separation and motion comfort because the official game listing does not document matching Toy Story 3 toggles.
Open the PS5 display accessibility controls
- Open Settings on the PS5 home screen.
- Select Accessibility.
- Open Display and Sound.
- Adjust the relevant control, then return to Toy Story 3 and check the same menu or scene again.
Use the smallest adjustment that fixes the problem. Large changes can make menus easier to read while making artwork, outlines or other visual details look less natural.

Use Zoom when only a small area is difficult to inspect
Zoom is useful when a particular piece of on-screen information is too small but you do not want to enlarge the entire presentation permanently. Try it for a menu, instruction or status element, then return to the normal view for gameplay. Because this is a PS5-level function, its exact behavior may depend on the console interface and the content being displayed.
Increase Text Size or enable Bold Text for small menus
When the problem is reading rather than seeing the whole image, increase Text Size. If enlarged text still lacks definition, enable Bold Text. These options are particularly appropriate for a player who can see the game clearly but struggles with thin or compact lettering.
Use High Contrast when text blends into the background
High Contrast can separate interface elements from busy backgrounds. Test it against both dark and bright scenes, because a contrast treatment that helps one menu may make another look harsher. Keep it enabled only if the improvement outweighs the change to the original visual style.

Turn on Reduce Motion for visual discomfort
Reduce Motion is the appropriate first test when camera movement, transitions or animated interface effects cause discomfort. It is a PS5 accessibility control, not a confirmed Toy Story 3 graphics option, so its effect may be limited to supported console interface behavior or content.
| Problem | First PS5 setting to test | Adjustment approach |
|---|---|---|
| Menus are too small | Text Size | Increase it only as far as needed; add Bold Text if letter shapes remain weak. |
| Text disappears into artwork | High Contrast | Test a moderate change on both dark and light menus. |
| Important colors look alike | Color Correction | Raise intensity gradually and check whether other colors become confusing. |
| A small detail needs inspection | Zoom | Use it temporarily for the affected area rather than enlarging everything. |
| Movement feels uncomfortable | Reduce Motion | Enable it and retest a menu transition or moving scene. |
Configure audio for television, soundbar or headset use
The available Toy Story 3 listing does not specify a dialogue slider, a game-specific mix, a surround mode or a headphone profile. Set the PS5 output device and accessibility controls first, then use the volume controls on the active television, soundbar or headset.
Select the active output device
- Open Settings on the PS5.
- Open Sound and select the audio-output controls.
- Choose the television, soundbar or headset you are actually using.
- Play a scene with speech and effects, then set the external device to a comfortable listening level.
If you change devices, verify the selected output again. A headset connected after the game has launched may not behave the same way as the television speakers, and a muted display can make a perfectly working game appear silent.

Use Mono Audio when stereo separation leaves one side unclear
PS5 accessibility controls include Mono Audio. Enable it when combining the left and right channels makes speech or effects easier to hear, especially with one-sided hearing or a headset problem affecting one channel. Mono removes the directional separation that stereo provides, so leave it off when you rely on positional audio and both ears receive the channels normally.

Understand what the Screen Reader can and cannot do
The PS5 Screen Reader can speak on-screen console text and provide spoken guidance through supported PS5 menus. That does not establish that Toy Story 3’s dialogue, menus or gameplay text are screen-reader compatible. Use it to navigate the console, select settings and manage system prompts, but do not expect it to narrate every game screen.
Turn on Closed Captions when the content supports them
- Open Settings on the PS5.
- Select Accessibility.
- Open Closed Captions.
- Enable captions and choose the available presentation options.
Sony defines closed captions as text that transcribes speech and supplies text for audio cues when viewing certain content. The Toy Story 3 storefront listing does not document game-specific caption support, so captions may not appear in every scene or may not be provided by this title at all.
Choose a setup by the problem you need to solve
The following combinations keep changes targeted instead of applying every accessibility feature at once.
| Your priority | Recommended starting configuration | What remains uncertain |
|---|---|---|
| Normal play with minimal processing | Television Game or low-latency mode; PS5 video output Automatic; no extra accessibility changes | The listing does not state a preferred HDR, brightness or sharpness value. |
| Reading small menus | Text Size, then Bold Text if needed; use Zoom for an isolated detail | The game’s own text-scaling menu is not documented. |
| Separating similar colors | Color Correction at the lowest effective intensity | The listing does not identify a Toy Story 3-specific color-blind mode. |
| Reducing visual discomfort | Reduce Motion, then retest the same transition or scene | The listing does not describe game-native motion controls. |
| One-sided hearing or channel imbalance | Mono Audio and the correct active output device | The game’s own mix and surround options are not stated. |
| Speech or sound-cue transcription | Closed Captions enabled at the PS5 level | Availability depends on content support; Toy Story 3 support is not documented. |
Use Toy Story 3’s confirmed enhancements without overinterpreting them
Up-rendering
Up-rendering is explicitly named in the PlayStation Store description. It indicates that the converted PSP presentation has been processed for the newer release, but it is not a published promise of a particular output resolution, HDR behavior or sharpness level. Leave the PS5 output on Automatic while you evaluate it.
Best Value
Custom video filters
The store also lists custom video filters. Because the listing does not publish their names, strengths or menu path, compare them visually rather than assuming a filter is an accessibility mode. A filter may improve edge definition or change the character of the image while reducing color accuracy or making textures look less natural.
Rewind and quick save
Rewind and quick save are convenience features rather than display or audio controls. They are useful for repeating a difficult moment or returning to a consistent test point while you adjust settings. Their inclusion does not imply that the game has modern checkpoint, subtitle or remapping options.
Troubleshoot common PS5 setup problems
The image is soft, stretched or unexpectedly dark
- Return the television to Game or low-latency mode and temporarily disable extra picture processing.
- Set PS5 video output back to Automatic before trying a manual override.
- Check the television’s own aspect-ratio and picture controls.
- Do not infer that a dark or soft image is a Toy Story 3 brightness or sharpness setting; the official listing does not provide those values.
Text is still difficult after changing size or contrast
- Use Bold Text in addition to Text Size rather than increasing every visual effect.
- Try High Contrast if the issue is separation from the background.
- Use Zoom for a single small element.
- Check viewing distance and television scaling before applying the strongest setting.
Colors look worse after Color Correction
- Reduce the intensity one step at a time.
- Compare a menu, a gameplay scene and a scene with recognizable character colors.
- Disable the correction if it makes neutral colors or important objects harder to identify.
There are no captions
Confirm that Closed Captions is enabled under Settings > Accessibility > Closed Captions. If no text appears in supported-looking scenes, the limitation may be that Toy Story 3 does not supply captions for that content. The console setting cannot create game captions that the software does not provide.
Only one side of the headset is audible
- Confirm that the headset plug, wireless connection or balance control is secure.
- Try Mono Audio to combine both channels.
- Test the same headset with another PS5 menu or application to determine whether the problem is system-wide.
- If another application also loses a channel, investigate the headset or console connection rather than changing Toy Story 3’s settings.
The game requests a system update or a feature is missing
The PlayStation Store warns that the PS5 may need current system software and that some PS4 features may be absent. Install the available PS5 update, restart the console and check the game again. If a PS4-only behavior remains unavailable, treat that as a platform difference rather than evidence that a hidden Toy Story 3 option is disabled.
A practical ten-minute calibration routine
- Set the television to Game or low-latency mode.
- Set PS5 video output to Automatic.
- Launch Toy Story 3 and visit a menu containing the smallest text you need to read.
- Record the baseline: text clarity, color separation, motion comfort and speech audibility.
- Open Settings > Accessibility > Display and Sound and change only the setting related to your biggest problem.
- Return to the same menu or scene and compare it with the baseline.
- For audio, open PS5 sound settings, select the active output device and test speech before enabling Mono Audio.
- Enable Closed Captions under Settings > Accessibility > Closed Captions if you want to check whether the current content supplies captions.
- Try any Toy Story 3 custom video filter separately from the PS5 accessibility changes.
- Keep the combination that improves access without making other information harder to see or hear.
This method prevents a filter, television mode and accessibility control from masking one another. It also gives you a repeatable way to restore the setup after changing displays or audio devices.
What not to assume about accessibility in this release
- Do not assume Toy Story 3 has a complete in-game accessibility menu. The storefront page does not publish one.
- Do not assume a PS5 Screen Reader will read the game’s dialogue or every menu item.
- Do not assume Closed Captions will appear unless the game content supports them.
- Do not assume Mono Audio changes the game’s mix; it is a PS5 system-level channel option.
- Do not assume up-rendering means a specified 4K, HDR or sharpness mode.
- Do not assume every PS4 feature is present on PS5.
Final recommended configuration
For most players, use the television’s Game or low-latency mode and leave PS5 video output on Automatic. Add Text Size, Bold Text or High Contrast only when reading is difficult; use Color Correction for color separation, Reduce Motion for visual discomfort and Mono Audio for channel-balance needs. Enable Closed Captions at the PS5 level, but judge support inside the game rather than treating the console switch as a guarantee.
Use Toy Story 3’s confirmed up-rendering, custom video filters, rewind and quick save as optional presentation and convenience features. Since the March 14, 2025 PS4/PS5 listing does not document a complete native settings menu, the most accurate approach is to tune the PS5 system controls first, test one change at a time and keep expectations aligned with what this PSP conversion actually exposes.
