PlayStation Blog and Square Enix list Final Fantasy Resonance for PS5 with an October 22, 2026 release date. The PS5 demo contains the first chapter and supports save-data carry-over, so players who start there can continue with the same progress when the full version is available.
The official PS5 product information does not currently identify a Final Fantasy Resonance HDR calibration sequence, a Performance Mode, a Quality Mode, a resolution target, a frame-rate target, or a game-specific luminance value. Those omissions matter: a television’s HDR controls and the PS5’s system calibration can be configured now, but there is no reliable basis for publishing “paper white,” peak-nit, resolution, or frames-per-second numbers for this title.

Use the following rule until launch documentation says otherwise:
- Treat console-level recommendations as general PS5 setup guidance, not as a statement about how the game renders.
- Use the exact graphics labels and values shown by the released game if it adds a graphics menu.
- Do not force HDR on a display that produces a washed-out or excessively dark image.
- Do not assume a Performance Mode exists merely because another PS5 game has one.
HDR: the best verified starting point
Choose the display mode first
Put a compatible television into its low-latency or Game picture mode before calibrating the console. This gives the display its gaming-oriented processing path and makes the result easier to judge while you adjust the PS5. The recommendation applies to the television, not to a hidden Final Fantasy Resonance preset; the game’s own HDR behavior has not been documented.

Run the PS5 calibration
- Open the PS5 home screen and enter the console’s display and video settings.

Do not compensate by copying peak-nit or paper-white settings from a different title. Those numbers depend on the game’s tone-mapping implementation and are not interchangeable. If a launch update later adds an in-game HDR screen, use its exact labels and instructions rather than assuming the console calibration is the only control.
Fix a picture that looks washed out
A washed-out image is a reason to verify the television’s HDR handling and then test with PS5 HDR disabled. If SDR looks correct and HDR does not, leave HDR off for this game until the display chain or an official game update resolves the issue. The objective is an accurate, comfortable image, not an HDR badge in the settings menu.
Performance Mode: what you can and cannot select yet
No official source currently confirms that the PS5 version has Performance Mode or Quality Mode. There is also no published resolution target, frame-rate target, or guarantee of a particular visual-effects trade-off. Consequently, “use Performance Mode at 60 fps” is speculation before launch, not a verified recommendation.

Use Automatic resolution on the console
Leave the PS5 resolution setting on Automatic for normal play. This allows the console and display to negotiate a supported output. Change it only while diagnosing a concrete problem, such as a display that loses the signal at a particular output setting. A manual console resolution does not create a game mode that the game itself does not expose.

If a graphics menu appears after launch
Read the menu’s labels exactly and record what each option changes. A useful comparison should include the following axes:

Once an official menu or patch note documents those values, choose according to your priority: clearer imagery when detail matters most, or the option explicitly designed for a different frame-rate target when responsiveness matters most. Until then, keep the console on Automatic and avoid presenting an unverified mode as a feature.
Audio: configure the PS5, then balance the game mixer
Set the correct output device on PS5
Sony’s documented path begins at Settings > Sound > Audio Output. Select the output device that is actually carrying the game audio. The available device and HDMI choices determine which controls are relevant, so selecting a device that is not in use can make later adjustments appear ineffective.

- For HDMI, choose the device type that matches the connection: television, soundbar, or AV amplifier.
- Check the Audio Format (Priority) setting and select the format appropriate for your equipment.
- If you use headphones, open Output to Headphones and confirm that the headphones are the intended destination.
The correct HDMI device type is more useful than a generic “best” value: a television, soundbar, and AV amplifier can present different routing options. If the equipment changes, revisit this menu rather than assuming the prior selection still applies.

Headphone EQ options
Sony documents EQ presets including Standard and Bass Boost, along with custom audio modes. Start with Standard when you want the least colored baseline. Try Bass Boost only if the added low-frequency emphasis helps your listening environment; it is not a Final Fantasy Resonance-specific recommendation. Custom modes are useful when a listener already knows which tonal balance is comfortable.
For headphones, use Output to Headphones and make one change at a time. Set the console output first, then adjust the game’s own channels. Avoid claiming Dolby Atmos, 3D Audio, or a bespoke surround mix for this title unless Square Enix documents those features in its official notes or menu.
Balance Final Fantasy Resonance’s in-game channels
The official PlayStation listing confirms volume controls for Final Fantasy Resonance, including the ability to reduce or mute individual audio volumes. Use those controls after the PS5 output is correct. The available channel names may vary with the released build, but the practical order is the same:

- Adjust effects separately; reduce them if impacts or ambience mask voices, or restore them if the mix feels flat.
- Use any additional channel controls shown by the game for that particular build.
- Mute a channel only when you deliberately want it absent, then recheck a dialogue-heavy scene.
There is no universal percentage that fits television speakers, a soundbar, an AV amplifier, and headphones. The useful control is the game’s individual volume adjustment combined with the PS5 output selected for your room.

Troubleshooting by symptom
The game looks too dark
- Confirm the television is in Game picture mode.
- Rerun the PS5 HDR calibration screens.
- Check the result with PS5 HDR disabled.
- If SDR is correct and HDR is not, leave HDR off rather than forcing it.
- Do not apply another game’s luminance numbers; Final Fantasy Resonance-specific values are not officially published.
The game looks gray or washed out
- Verify that the display actually supports HDR and that the correct display input is active.
- Test with PS5 HDR disabled.
- Use the correctly displayed SDR image if HDR remains wrong.
There is no sound
- Open Settings > Sound > Audio Output.
- Select the device that is physically connected and in use.
- For HDMI, select the matching television, soundbar, or AV amplifier type.
- For headphones, check Output to Headphones.
- Return to the game’s volume controls and make sure individual channels were not reduced or muted.
Voices are hard to hear
Use the in-game channel controls first: raise voice volume or reduce music and effects. If the issue occurs only through headphones, check the PS5 EQ preset and try Standard before experimenting with Bass Boost or a custom mode. If it occurs only through a television or soundbar, recheck the selected HDMI device type and the physical output path.
You cannot find Performance Mode
That may be expected. Official information available before launch does not confirm that the game includes a Performance or Quality selector. Check the released game’s own graphics menu and official patch notes; do not treat an absent toggle as a setup failure or assume that a rumored frame-rate target is real.
What to check on launch day
On October 22, 2026, or when your installed build updates, inspect the game’s menus and official notes for additions that are not documented yet. A meaningful launch update should be recorded with its exact wording, not paraphrased into generic labels.
- Look for an in-game HDR calibration screen and record every label and instruction.
- Look for Performance, Quality, resolution, frame-rate, VRR, or visual-effects options.
- Check whether a patch note gives a resolution or frame-rate target and whether it qualifies that target.
- Confirm whether any newly documented audio feature is actually listed for this title before enabling or recommending it.
- Recheck the PS5 Audio Output device if you changed from television speakers to a soundbar, AV amplifier, or headphones.
The demo’s first-chapter save-data carry-over is useful for testing your display and audio chain before the full release, but it does not establish graphics specifications that Square Enix has not published. Use the demo to confirm that your own setup is comfortable, then update your settings only when the full game or an official note provides new, title-specific information.
