Short answer: The Logitech G923 PlayStation edition is the safest named wheel-and-pedal starting point for PS5 buyers. The Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition is a credible alternative when the games you play appear on Thrustmaster’s PS5 list. For a modular setup, Fanatec’s Gran Turismo DD Pro and ClubSport DD+ are the PlayStation-compatible bases identified by Fanatec. None can be called the objectively best performer from the available evidence because there is no comparable independent testing or current price data here.
There is an important correction to the usual wording of this question: Forza Motorsport is not a PS5 game. Its official wheel-support information separates console and PC hardware lists. On PS5, the relevant Forza title is Forza Horizon 5, and its wheel support must be checked separately. A wheel that appears on an Xbox or PC list is not automatically compatible with PS5.

What to buy for PS5
Choose the exact PlayStation version of the Logitech G923 if you want a straightforward wheel-and-pedal bundle with documented PS5 support. Logitech’s compatibility list includes Forza Motorsport (2023) and several Forza and F1 titles, but the list is dynamic and its platform distinctions matter. Confirm that the listing says PlayStation, PS5 or PS4—not an Xbox-only G923 SKU—before ordering.

That is useful evidence, but it is not a universal guarantee for every PS5 racing game.

Choose a Fanatec setup only after identifying the exact wheelbase. Fanatec states that PlayStation compatibility is built into selected bases, including Gran Turismo DD Pro and ClubSport DD+, rather than into every steering-wheel rim. A compatible rim can be paired with an appropriate compatible base, but a base intended only for Xbox or PC should not be assumed to work on PS5.
Forza Motorsport versus Forza Horizon 5 on PS5
Forza Motorsport
Forza Motorsport (2023) is not available as a native PS5 game. The official Forza wheel-support page says, “Forza Motorsport natively supports popular racing wheels from Logitech, Thrustmaster and Fanatec,” then presents separate console and PC lists. Logitech G923 appears on the console list; Thrustmaster T300 RS and Fanatec GT DD appear on the PC list. Those entries do not establish PS5 compatibility, because the console list is not a PS5 list.
If you play Forza Motorsport on an Xbox console or Windows PC, use the official list for that platform and check the wheel’s exact connection and edition. If you own a PS5, you need a different game to use these wheels locally.
Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 launched on PS5 in 2025. Its PS5 wheel support is a separate question from Forza Motorsport’s support. Check the current PS5 version’s in-game or developer-published supported-device information before buying, especially for older entry-level wheels. The fact that a model works with Forza Motorsport on Xbox or PC does not prove that it works with Forza Horizon 5 on PS5.

No current prices, stock ranking or comparable performance test is established for these products. Treat a price shown by a retailer as time- and region-specific, and compare the complete setup rather than the wheel rim alone.
Logitech G923 PlayStation edition: the simplest recommendation
Why it fits a general PS5 setup
The G923 is the clearest all-in-one candidate because the PlayStation edition is described as compatible with PS5, PS4 and PC and includes pedals. That reduces the number of compatibility decisions: you select the correct console SKU, connect the bundle and then verify the individual game.
Logitech’s game-compatibility list includes Forza Motorsport (2023), other Forza games and F1 titles. Because the list changes, read the platform column for the game you intend to play. A game appearing somewhere on the page is not enough if the entry is limited to PC or Xbox.

- Confirm the product name identifies the PlayStation version; an Xbox G923 is a different console edition.
- Confirm that the listing includes both the wheel and pedals if you are replacing a complete setup.
- Open the current Logitech compatibility list and check each priority game, not just Forza Motorsport.
- Check the retailer’s current stock and the exact model number because the direct PlayStation product page was unavailable when the product evidence was checked.
Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition: a game-list-dependent alternative
Where the evidence is strongest
Thrustmaster’s T300RS GT Edition page lists selected PS5 games and states that PS5 also supports the wheel with PS4-compatible games shown on the page. It describes a quick wheel-changing system for the T300RS series, which is relevant if you plan to use different rims later. The page also links a Gran Turismo 7 mapping download.

For a current example outside the Thrustmaster list, Electronic Arts includes the T300 in its PS5 roster for F1 25. That confirms support for that game and platform, not for every racing title.
How to decide if it is right for you
- Write down the PS5 games you actually play, including their exact editions.
- Check each game against Thrustmaster’s current PS5 or PS4-on-PS5 list.
- For EA games, also check the publisher’s controller and wheel page for the specific release.
- Confirm what the current T300RS GT Edition listing includes and whether you need any separate accessory.
Do not use the T300’s appearance on Forza Motorsport’s PC list as proof that it works with a PS5 game. The platforms are different.
Fanatec: modular hardware with base-specific PlayStation support
The compatibility rule
Fanatec’s PlayStation Compatibility FAQ identifies Gran Turismo DD Pro and ClubSport DD+ as PlayStation-compatible wheelbases. It explains that compatibility is implemented in selected bases. The steering-wheel rim itself does not make an otherwise incompatible base work on PS5.

How to configure one safely
- Choose a base explicitly identified as PlayStation-compatible, such as Gran Turismo DD Pro or ClubSport DD+.
- Check that the rim you want is listed as compatible with that base.
- Confirm that pedals, shifter and mounting hardware are included or budgeted separately; modular bundles can differ.
- Check the game developer’s PS5 wheel list for the exact title before placing the order.
Do not infer PlayStation support from a CSL DD or another base’s Xbox or PC compatibility. Fanatec’s own base-specific guidance is the decisive check.

A practical PS5 compatibility workflow
Use this process whenever you compare a wheel, regardless of brand:
- Name the platform and game precisely. Write “Forza Horizon 5 on PS5” rather than “Forza,” or “F1 25 on PS5” rather than “F1.” Different releases can use different device lists.
- Identify the exact hardware variant. Record the console edition, bundle name and wheelbase model. PlayStation and Xbox versions of a similarly named wheel are not interchangeable assumptions.
- Read the game maker’s current support page. Prefer the list for the platform on which you will play. A PC entry, an Xbox entry and a PS5 entry are separate evidence.
- Check the wheel manufacturer’s list. Use it to find supported games, mappings and known limitations, then reconcile it with the game publisher’s information.
- Verify the complete package. Confirm whether pedals, a shifter, a power supply, clamps or mounting hardware are included in the current seller listing.
- Check updates and launch notes. A game update can add or change support. Dated announcements should not be treated as proof of present-day compatibility.
- Keep a return path. If a game’s list is unclear, purchase only where the current return terms allow you to test the exact combination.
Important exception: T80 wheels and Forza Horizon 5 at the PS5 launch
Thrustmaster’s notice dated around the April 25, 2025 PS5 launch stated that T80 and T80 Ferrari 488 GTB Edition wheels would not work in Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 on launch day and would require a future update. That announcement establishes launch-day status only. It does not confirm whether the promised update shipped or whether those models work today.
If you own one of these wheels, look for a current compatibility statement from the game or Thrustmaster before buying the game or relying on the wheel. Do not treat the 2025 launch notice as a current yes or no.

Exact game support
This is the first filter. A wheel with broad PC support can still be unsuitable for a PS5 game. Build your shortlist from the games you play, not from a generic “works with PlayStation” label.

Console edition
Check the PlayStation SKU on the box and retailer page. The same model family may have separate PlayStation and Xbox editions, and the wrong edition can leave you with no console support even when the model name looks familiar.
Base architecture and upgrade path
Bundle systems such as the G923 and T300RS GT Edition package the principal controls together. Fanatec’s approach is modular: the base determines PlayStation compatibility, while rims and other components are selected around it. Decide whether you value a simpler initial bundle or the ability to change components later, then verify each model-specific compatibility statement.
Included equipment
Count the wheel, pedals, shifter and mounting hardware in the exact listing. A product title can describe a wheel family while the current seller package omits an accessory you expected. For modular hardware, assume nothing is included unless the listing says so.
Price and availability
Prices and stock change by country, retailer and date. No current price comparison establishes a value winner among these options. Record the total cost of the complete setup, including any separately purchased components, at the time you buy.
Setup and troubleshooting checklist
Before connecting
- Confirm that the wheel is the PlayStation edition or that the base is explicitly PlayStation-compatible.
- Install the game’s latest update and consult its current wheel-support page.
- Check every cable and power connection supplied with the bundle or base.
- Mount the wheel and pedals securely so movement does not disconnect a cable or change pedal position.
If the PS5 does not recognize the wheel
- Disconnect the wheel, fully shut down the PS5, reconnect the wheel and start the console again.
- Recheck the console selector or edition-specific instructions supplied for the model.
- Test the wheel in a game that explicitly lists that exact model for PS5.
- Review the manufacturer’s current support page for firmware, mapping or game-specific notes.
- If it works in one listed game but not another, treat that as a game-support issue and contact the game publisher or manufacturer rather than assuming the hardware is defective.
If only some controls work
Open the game’s control-mapping screen and apply the model-specific mapping supplied by the manufacturer when one exists. Thrustmaster provides a Gran Turismo 7 mapping download for the T300RS GT Edition. A mapping problem does not prove that the wheel lacks PS5 support.
