1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf you want extra controls on a PS5, three options have clearly documented support for remapping and rear inputs: Sony’s DualSense Edge, SCUF’s Reflex family and Razer’s Wolverine V2 Pro. They are not interchangeable designs. The Edge has two interchangeable rear-button positions, Reflex controllers have four rear paddles, and the Wolverine V2 Pro combines four rear triggers with two multifunction top bumpers.
There is no independently tested winner in the available evidence. The sensible choice depends on how many rear inputs you can comfortably reach, which functions you need to assign, how you want profiles managed and whether model-specific features or replacement-part compatibility matter more than the raw input count.

What a PS5 pro controller with back controls actually changes
A remappable controller lets you move selected game commands to buttons that your fingers can reach without leaving the sticks. That can be useful when a game asks you to aim, move, jump, reload or activate an ability at the same time. The practical benefit is control placement: you decide which supported input is easiest to reach, rather than accepting the default location.
“Back paddles” is not one universal layout. A controller may use small buttons, paddles or triggers on the rear, and the number of available positions varies. The three documented designs in this guide are therefore best compared by layout and software workflow, not by the word “paddle” alone.

Sony DualSense Edge: the PS5-integrated option
Rear-button layout
The DualSense Edge provides two rear-button positions. Sony supplies two interchangeable styles: half-dome buttons and lever-style buttons. This is a deliberately smaller rear-input layout than the four-paddle alternatives, so it suits players who want a pair of frequently used commands rather than a complete second layer of four controls.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Changing the physical button style is part of the setup decision. A half-dome shape and a lever shape can present different contact points to your fingers, so choose the style that lets you press consistently without shifting your grip. The documentation establishes that both styles are supplied; it does not establish a universally superior shape.
PS5 profile and tuning workflow
Edge assignments and profiles are handled through the PS5 rather than a separate phone application. Sony documents saveable profiles, adjustable stick sensitivity and dead zones, and adjustable trigger settings. The controller’s Fn controls let you switch among configured profiles while playing.
Stick dead zone is the amount of analog-stick movement that must occur before the system recognizes an input. Lowering or raising it changes when movement begins to register, but the appropriate setting depends on the game and the physical condition of the stick. Treat it as a calibration control, not as a guaranteed accuracy boost.
Remapping boundaries
PlayStation support identifies two boundaries that matter when planning an Edge layout:

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- The Fn button itself cannot be reassigned.
- You cannot assign another button to function as L2 or R2.
Those restrictions mean the Edge cannot reproduce every possible control scheme. Check your target game’s essential actions against these limits before creating a profile.
Who should consider it
Choose the Edge when PS5-side configuration, integrated profile switching and adjustable sticks or triggers are more important to you than having four rear paddles. It is also the clearest fit for someone who wants to stay inside the console’s own settings rather than maintain a mobile-app workflow.
SCUF Reflex: four rear paddles and model-specific choices
Four paddles, but not one identical Reflex
SCUF’s Reflex family uses four remappable rear paddles. The family includes different variants, and the product documentation distinguishes features between them. For example, instant triggers are associated with FPS models, while grip is included on selected variants. Do not assume that a feature listed for one Reflex version is present on every Reflex controller.
When comparing listings, identify the exact variant first. The family name alone is not enough to establish trigger type, grip treatment or any other model-dependent feature.
What the paddles can and cannot do
SCUF states that paddle functions can be remapped on the controller, with profiles stored onboard. Its support documentation excludes four categories from paddle assignments:
- Create
- Options
- Home
- Trigger functions
This is a meaningful difference from simply saying “four paddles can map to anything.” Build your intended layout around supported face-button and directional functions, then verify that none of your required actions depends on one of the excluded categories.
Replacement-part compatibility
SCUF specifies that only SCUF Reflex paddles are compatible with Reflex controllers. That makes model identification important after purchase: a replacement paddle from another controller family should not be treated as interchangeable. Keep the exact Reflex model name when ordering parts or asking for support.

Who should consider it
Reflex is the logical direction for a player who specifically wants four rear contact points and prefers profiles stored on the controller. The trade-off is that paddle mapping has explicit exclusions, and the feature set changes by variant. A four-paddle layout is not automatically better if you only use one or two rear commands or if your required actions include trigger functions.

Six additional control locations
The Wolverine V2 Pro is documented with four rear triggers and two multifunction top bumpers. That is a different reach pattern from both the Edge’s two rear buttons and Reflex’s four rear paddles. Before buying, consider whether your fingers naturally rest on rear triggers and whether the top bumpers are easy to press without disturbing your grip.
Mobile-app remapping
Razer says remapping is performed through its Controller app for iOS or Android. This creates a different setup path from the Edge’s PS5 menus and Reflex’s on-controller mapping. You will need a compatible mobile device for configuration, and you should confirm the app’s current workflow and the exact PS5 product configuration when you purchase.
Who should consider it
The Wolverine V2 Pro is aimed at players who want more than four additional positions and are comfortable managing assignments through a phone or tablet. Its extra inputs are triggers and top bumpers rather than four conventional rear paddles, so compare the physical reach—not just the count—against your grip.
How to choose between the three layouts
1. Start with the number of commands you actually need
Write down the actions you want to move off the face buttons or stick clicks. If two commands cover your use case, the Edge’s two rear positions may be sufficient. If you want four separate rear assignments, Reflex provides four paddles. If you want four rear controls plus two top controls, the Wolverine V2 Pro offers the largest documented set among these options.

2. Match the reach pattern to your grip
Rear buttons, paddles and triggers are pressed differently. Think about where your middle, ring and little fingers rest while both thumbs remain on the sticks. A layout that looks versatile on paper may be awkward if reaching one control forces you to loosen your grip or move a thumb.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Use the manufacturer’s physical description as a checklist: two interchangeable rear-button styles on Edge, four rear paddles on Reflex, or four rear triggers with two top multifunction bumpers on Wolverine V2 Pro.
3. Check mapping exclusions before you buy
Mapping limits can disqualify a controller for a particular game. Edge does not let you remap Fn and does not let another button become L2 or R2. Reflex does not permit Create, Options, Home or trigger functions on its paddles. The Wolverine V2 Pro’s documentation in this comparison establishes app-based remapping and its extra-input layout, so confirm any game-specific assignment limits in the current app and product documentation.

4. Choose the profile workflow you will actually use
| If you prefer… | Look first at… | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Console-native setup and Fn switching | DualSense Edge | Profiles and adjustments are configured through PS5 settings, with switching handled from the controller. |
| Profiles stored on the controller and four paddles | SCUF Reflex | SCUF documents onboard profiles and four rear paddle positions. |
| Phone-based configuration and six extra positions | Razer Wolverine V2 Pro | Razer documents remapping through its iOS or Android Controller app. |
A profile system is only useful if you can remember which profile is active and switch it without interrupting play. Keep each profile’s purpose distinct—for example, one layout for a game type or control scheme—rather than creating many nearly identical versions.
5. Separate documented adjustments from performance promises
Edge explicitly documents stick sensitivity, dead-zone and trigger adjustments. Those are configuration controls, not independent evidence of better aim or faster reactions. Likewise, the presence of rear paddles or triggers establishes additional inputs, not a measured competitive advantage. Treat marketing language about speed as a claim from the manufacturer unless you have a separate, controlled test.
6. Plan for the exact model and replacement parts
Reflex features vary by model, and only Reflex paddles are specified as compatible with Reflex controllers. Record the full model name before ordering accessories. For all three controllers, verify current availability, warranty terms and replacement-part options at the time of purchase; those details are not established here.

DualSense Edge
- Connect the controller to the PS5 and open the controller settings used for DualSense Edge profiles.
- Create a profile for the game or control scheme you want to change.
- Assign supported commands to the two rear positions, remembering that Fn cannot be reassigned and no button can be made to act as L2 or R2.
- Choose either the supplied half-dome or lever rear-button style.
- Adjust stick sensitivity, dead zones and trigger settings only as needed for that profile.
- Save the profile and practice switching with the Fn controls before using it in a match.
SCUF Reflex
- Identify the exact Reflex variant, since features differ across the family.
- Use the controller’s remapping process to assign supported functions to the four paddles.
- Exclude Create, Options, Home and trigger functions from your paddle plan.
- Save the arrangement to an onboard profile and label its purpose in your own notes.
- Test each paddle while holding the controller normally, checking for accidental presses.
- If a paddle is damaged or lost, obtain a Reflex-compatible replacement; SCUF specifies that only Reflex paddles fit.
Razer Wolverine V2 Pro
- Install the Razer Controller app on a compatible iOS or Android device.
- Pair or connect the controller according to the current app instructions.
- Map the four rear triggers and two multifunction top bumpers to the commands you need.
- Confirm the app shows the intended PS5 configuration and save the setup.
- Test every extra control in a low-stakes game session, paying attention to the difference between rear-trigger and top-bumper reach.
Common buying and setup mistakes
Assuming every “Reflex” listing has the same features
It does not. Variant-dependent features are part of the product definition, so check the model name and its own specification before relying on instant triggers, grip or any other advertised feature.
Counting inputs without checking their function
Two rear buttons, four paddles and four rear triggers plus two top bumpers are not equivalent experiences. A player who wants four easy-to-rest paddles may prefer a different layout from a player who wants trigger-like presses.

Designing around forbidden assignments
On Edge, do not plan to replace L2 or R2 with another button. On Reflex, do not reserve a paddle for Create, Options, Home or a trigger. Redesign the profile before you begin practice.
Buying incompatible replacement parts
Reflex paddles are specifically limited to Reflex compatibility. Keep the controller family and variant visible when shopping for spares.
Confusing adjustability with a tested advantage
Stick dead-zone controls, trigger settings, profiles and extra inputs are documented features. They are not a published cross-controller performance statistic. Choose them for the control scheme you need, not for an assumed result.

A practical decision guide
- Pick DualSense Edge if two rear controls are enough and you want PS5-managed profiles, Fn-based switching and documented stick, dead-zone and trigger adjustments.
- Pick SCUF Reflex if four rear paddles are the priority, you want onboard profiles and your required mappings do not include Create, Options, Home or trigger functions. Confirm the exact variant.
- Pick Razer Wolverine V2 Pro if you want four rear triggers plus two top multifunction bumpers and are comfortable using an iOS or Android app for remapping.
Before paying, verify the current retail price, stock, warranty and exact model configuration. Those commercial details change and are not established by the documented feature comparison.
What the evidence does—and does not—establish
Official product and support material is enough to compare input layouts, mapping rules, profile workflows and documented adjustments. It is not enough to declare a best overall controller, quantify reaction-time gains, compare latency, rate durability or establish battery-life differences. Those questions require controlled, independently reported testing.
The most defensible purchase is therefore the one whose physical controls and mapping rules fit your own game commands. Start with the required inputs, eliminate models that block them, then choose the profile workflow you will use consistently.
