Best Projectors for Android in 2026: Five Picks by Use Case

The best projector for Android depends on whether you want Google TV apps built into the projector, wireless casting from an Android phone, or both. The five models below cover a portable 1080p option, brighter 4K home units, and projectors with especially broad input choices. They are organized by use case rather than presented as a definitive lab ranking because the available specifications and reviews use different brightness standards and were not produced in one head-to-head test.

What “for Android” means

“Android projector” can describe two separate features. A projector with Google TV (or another licensed Android TV platform) runs streaming apps on the projector itself. You use the projector remote and its Wi-Fi connection, without a phone. A projector that supports Google Cast or Chromecast can receive video or a screen from a compatible Android phone. Some models offer both capabilities; others offer only one.

Check the exact model and regional version for the casting protocol. An Android phone must also support the protocol. soundcore Support states that some Android devices do not support Chromecast, so an Android operating system alone does not guarantee wireless casting.

App casting is different from mirroring

Chromecast-compatible apps send playback to the projector while the app handles the stream. YouTube and Prime Video are examples given by soundcore Support. Full-screen mirroring duplicates the phone display and is subject to different restrictions. soundcore’s instructions warn: “Copyrighted content from Netflix CANNOT be mirrored or screencast.” That warning applies to the described method; it does not mean Netflix can never play on a projector. Use a licensed Netflix app built into the projector, or verify another officially supported playback route.

Five candidates compared

The table uses the units and descriptions reported by each source. ANSI lumens, ISO lumens and an unspecified “lumens” figure are not interchangeable measurements, so the numbers should not be treated as a single brightness ranking.

Model Image specification reported Smart platform and Android route Useful hardware or setup feature
XGIMI MoGo 4 1080p; 450 ISO lumens (What Hi-Fi?, 2026) Google TV and Google Cast Rotating stand; battery-powered; USB-C power-bank support
Dangbei DBOX02 Pro 4K UHD; approximately 2,000 ISO lumens (Android Authority, 2026) Google TV with licensed Netflix Autofocus, auto-keystone and HDMI 2.1
soundcore Nebula X1 4K; 3,500 ANSI lumens (soundcore manufacturer guide, 2026) Google TV and Chromecast HDMI 2.1
Epson Lifestudio Flex Plus 4K PRO-UHD; 1,000 lumens color and white (Android Authority, 2026) Built-in Google TV Designed as a flexible home or second-screen projector
BenQ GP520 4K; 2,600 ANSI lumens (TechRadar, 2026) Google TV Two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one with eARC; USB-C DisplayPort input

Best portable choice: XGIMI MoGo 4

The MoGo 4 is the practical pick when carrying the projector matters more than maximum brightness. Android Authority describes it as a battery-powered 1080p projector with Google TV. What Hi-Fi? reports Google TV, Google Cast, a claimed 450 ISO lumens, and up to 2.5 hours in Eco mode. The same comparison says Standard mode reduces runtime, so the Eco figure should not be read as an all-purpose battery guarantee.

Why it fits mobile Android use

  • The rotating stand can simplify aiming at a wall or ceiling without carrying a separate mount.
  • Google Cast gives compatible Android phones a wireless playback route, while Google TV provides apps when you do not want to use a phone.
  • USB-C power-bank support can extend use away from an outlet, provided the power bank and cable meet the projector’s requirements.

Limitations to plan around

At 450 ISO lumens, the MoGo 4 is aimed at darker rooms rather than bright daylight. Its 1080p image is a sensible portability trade-off, but it does not provide the detail or light output claimed for the larger 4K candidates. Treat the 2.5-hour figure as an Eco-mode claim from What Hi-Fi?, not a measured runtime for every setting.

Best brighter home option: Dangbei DBOX02 Pro

Android Authority describes the DBOX02 Pro as a 4K UHD Google TV projector with licensed Netflix, approximately 2,000 ISO lumens, autofocus and auto-keystone correction. The report lists HDMI 2.1 and an MSRP of $1,599 at the time of publication (January 3, 2026). Availability and price can change by country and retailer.

Who should choose it

This is the stronger fit for a living room or media room where a portable battery projector would look too dim. The reported 4K UHD resolution and higher ISO-lumen figure target a larger, brighter picture, while autofocus and auto-keystone reduce setup work. Licensed Netflix is significant for viewers who want to start that service from the projector rather than depend on phone mirroring.

What the specification does not prove

The approximately 2,000 ISO-lumen figure is a reported specification, not a result from a common test shared with the other four models. Confirm the exact regional model, app certification and current price before purchase.

Best premium brightness candidate: soundcore Nebula X1

The soundcore manufacturer guide lists the Nebula X1 with Google TV, Chromecast, HDMI 2.1, 4K support and 3,500 ANSI lumens. Its comparison table gives an approximate price of $2,999. These are manufacturer-reported features and price information, not an independent measurement or universal street price.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why it stands out

  • Chromecast is explicitly listed, which addresses Android phone casting as well as built-in Google TV apps.
  • HDMI 2.1 allows connection of external sources and a separate streaming device when an app or casting route is unavailable.
  • The claimed ANSI-lumen output is the highest figure in this group, making it the candidate to investigate first for larger screens or rooms with more ambient light.

Important qualification

ANSI and ISO measurements follow different standards. A 3,500-ANSI claim cannot be directly converted into ISO lumens or compared arithmetically with the DBOX02 Pro or MoGo 4. Check independent measurements, regional specifications and the room’s lighting before treating it as a solution for daytime viewing.

Best flexible home or second-screen option: Epson Lifestudio Flex Plus

Android Authority reports built-in Google TV, 4K PRO-UHD and 1,000 lumens for both color and white output. The article lists a $999.99 MSRP. Verify the exact model designation and current regional price because product names, bundles and availability can vary.

Where it makes sense

The Flex Plus suits buyers who want a Google TV interface in a home projector that can serve as a main-room or second-screen display. “4K PRO-UHD” is the manufacturer’s format description; when comparing it with other 4K-labelled projectors, check whether the quoted resolution is native 4K or produced by a pixel-shifting system and compare the implementation rather than relying on the label alone.

Android considerations

Google TV supplies the projector-side app experience. The available description does not establish a separate Google Cast specification for this model, so confirm the exact listing if casting directly from an Android phone is essential. If the projector has a compatible HDMI input, an external streaming device is a possible alternative, but it does not automatically provide phone mirroring or bypass protected-content restrictions.

Best for inputs and crisp 4K: BenQ GP520

TechRadar reports the GP520 as a 4K Google TV projector with 2,600 ANSI lumens. Its connection panel includes two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one with eARC, plus USB-C with DisplayPort input. TechRadar’s test assessment describes it as bright and crisp but limited to 60 Hz. Those observations are TechRadar’s test reporting, not a firsthand test here.

The integrated 5W SoundBase Speaker provides rich audio, completing your experience—no external speakers needed

Why the connections matter

  • Two HDMI inputs let you leave more than one source connected, such as a console and a streaming device.
  • eARC can send compatible audio formats to a soundbar or AV receiver over the designated HDMI connection.
  • USB-C DisplayPort input can accept video from a compatible computer or phone accessory; USB-C ports do not all carry DisplayPort, so verify the source device and cable.

The 60-Hz trade-off

A 60-Hz ceiling is adequate for films, television and most streamed video. It matters more if you expect higher-refresh-rate gaming or a computer desktop where motion at rates above 60 Hz is a priority. The reported 2,600 ANSI lumens also place this model in a brighter class than the portable MoGo 4, although the units still cannot be compared as if they were identical tests.

How to choose among the five

Choose by room and screen size

  • Dark bedroom, travel or outdoor evening use: start with the MoGo 4 and its battery and stand, accepting 1080p output and lower light output.
  • Living room with some ambient light: investigate the DBOX02 Pro, GP520 or Nebula X1, using the stated measurement standard and the actual screen size as the comparison basis.
  • Flexible second screen: the Lifestudio Flex Plus is the Google TV-focused option in this set, while the GP520 offers the broadest listed physical inputs.
  • Large image or brighter conditions: prioritize verified ANSI or ISO measurements, not an unqualified “lumens” number, and remember that a larger image spreads the available light over more area.

Choose by Android workflow

If you want to stop carrying a phone, prioritize a projector with the apps and certifications you need. If your content starts on the phone, confirm Google Cast or another explicitly supported protocol for both devices. A projector can have Google TV without offering every phone-to-projector mirroring method, and an Android phone can lack Chromecast support.

Choose by power and portability

Only the MoGo 4 is described here with a battery duration: up to 2.5 hours in Eco mode, with shorter operation in Standard mode according to What Hi-Fi?. The other candidates are presented as home-oriented projectors in the cited descriptions; do not assume they will run from a battery or a USB-C power bank unless the manufacturer specifically confirms it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Setting up Android casting

Use this sequence for a projector and phone that explicitly support Chromecast or Google Cast:

  1. Turn on the projector and complete its Google TV or network setup.
  2. Connect the projector and Android phone to the same Wi-Fi network. soundcore’s support procedure also allows a phone hotspot; both devices still need to be on that shared connection.
  3. On the phone, open the Cast, Screen Cast or equivalent control. The menu name and location vary by Android manufacturer and software version.
  4. Select the projector from the device list and accept any pairing prompt.
  5. For app casting, open a compatible app such as YouTube or Prime Video and tap its Cast control. This sends supported playback to the projector rather than duplicating every phone screen.
  6. For services with protected playback, use the projector’s licensed app when available. Do not assume that a successful connection means every service can be mirrored.

If the projector does not appear

  • Confirm that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi band or hotspot and that the phone is not silently using a different network.
  • Check the projector’s settings for Google Cast availability and complete any on-screen setup.
  • Try the app’s own Cast button instead of the phone’s general screen-mirroring control.
  • Verify that the particular Android phone supports Chromecast; soundcore Support specifically warns that some devices do not.
  • Restart both devices and repeat discovery before assuming the projector is defective.

Using HDMI as a fallback

An HDMI input lets a projector accept a separate streaming device, game console or computer. This can solve a missing built-in app or provide a more reliable app environment than phone casting. It is a conditional workaround: the projector must have the required HDMI input, the external device must support the service, and protected content still follows the service’s licensing rules.

Do not promise universal wired output from an Android phone. Some phones can send video through USB-C DisplayPort or a suitable adapter, while others cannot. Check the phone’s video-output specification, adapter compatibility and the projector’s input before buying a cable. The GP520’s USB-C DisplayPort input is explicitly listed by TechRadar, but that does not mean every Android phone will drive it.

Brightness, resolution and setup details that prevent bad purchases

Read the brightness unit

The cited figures span 450 ISO lumens for the MoGo 4, approximately 2,000 ISO lumens for the DBOX02 Pro, 3,500 ANSI lumens for the Nebula X1 and 2,600 ANSI lumens for the GP520. Epson’s Lifestudio Flex Plus is reported at 1,000 lumens for both color and white. These figures come from different sources and standards. There is no defensible single ranking until measurements are made under the same method.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Separate resolution labels from real detail

1080p is the MoGo 4’s reported resolution. The other four are described with 4K, 4K UHD or 4K PRO-UHD terminology. Ask whether the specification means native 4K pixels or a pixel-shifted implementation, what input formats are accepted, and whether the desired streaming apps output at that resolution.

Account for geometry

Autofocus and auto-keystone, reported for the DBOX02 Pro, can make setup faster but may reduce the usable image area or add processing. A rotating stand, reported for the MoGo 4, addresses aiming rather than brightness. Place any projector as square to the screen as practical, then use digital correction only when necessary.

Plan the sound path

Built-in Google TV handles video apps, but the supplied descriptions do not provide a uniform speaker specification for all five models. If room-filling sound matters, choose a model with the required audio output or HDMI eARC; the GP520 is the only candidate here with eARC explicitly reported. Confirm the projector’s exact audio outputs before assuming a particular soundbar connection will work.

Prices, regions and evidence quality

Reported prices are snapshots, not guarantees. Android Authority listed a $1,599 MSRP for the DBOX02 Pro and $999.99 for the Lifestudio Flex Plus in its January 3, 2026 guide. The soundcore manufacturer table gave the Nebula X1 an approximate $2,999 price. The cited descriptions do not establish a current price for the MoGo 4 or GP520. Taxes, bundles, stock and regional model numbers can change the amount you actually pay.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The evidence also comes from different source types. soundcore’s guide and support page describe its own products and procedures; treat feature, brightness and app claims as manufacturer statements. Android Authority and TechRadar provide buying-guide or review reporting, while What Hi-Fi? supplies the MoGo 4 battery and casting observations. None of these sources provides one independent, controlled comparison of all five projectors, which is why the recommendations above are organized around needs rather than a universal first-to-fifth score.

A final buying checklist

  • Decide whether you need projector-side Google TV apps, Android phone casting, or both.
  • Confirm Google Cast or Chromecast support for the exact projector model and your exact phone.
  • Check whether the streaming services you use have licensed projector apps; do not rely on mirroring for protected video.
  • Compare brightness only after recording whether the figure is ANSI, ISO, or another stated method.
  • Match the claimed resolution to your seating distance, screen size and the source’s output.
  • For portable use, verify battery mode, expected runtime and charging method; the MoGo 4’s 2.5-hour figure is specifically an Eco-mode claim.
  • Count HDMI inputs and check for eARC or USB-C DisplayPort if you plan to connect consoles, computers or a separate streaming device.
  • Recheck current price, app certification, firmware and regional availability immediately before ordering.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
