For a 1080p YouTube Live stream in PRISM Live Studio desktop, start with 1920×1080 progressive video, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and 10 Mbps at 30 fps or 12 Mbps at 60 fps. Match the source video’s frame rate where possible, leave about 20% upload headroom, and verify that the file actually repeats in your installed PRISM version: PRISM’s published desktop guide explains adding a media source and autoplay, but does not confirm an indefinite loop control.

These are the values in PRISM Live Studio’s official YouTube output settings table, accessed in 2026. YouTube’s own H.264 recommendations are broader: 5–14 Mbps for 1080p30 and 6–17 Mbps for 1080p60. PRISM’s starting values fall within those respective ranges. PRISM Live Studio FAQ · YouTube encoder settings

Choose 30 fps or 60 fps
Use the source file’s native frame rate when practical. Choose 30 fps for a 30 fps source or footage with little motion. Choose 60 fps when the source is 60 fps or smoother movement is visibly useful, and your computer and connection can sustain the additional encoding and upload load. Converting a 30 fps video to 60 fps does not add real motion detail, so do it only for a specific production reason.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPRISM’s FAQ recommends 30 fps for normal live broadcasts and notes that higher resolution and frame rate can add system load. YouTube accepts frame rates up to 60 fps. If performance is marginal, 30 fps is the sensible first setting to test rather than forcing 60 fps.

Add the video and set PRISM’s output
- Add your file: In PRISM Live Studio desktop, add the video as a media source. PRISM’s desktop Media Source guide documents adding a file and autoplay behavior in Studio Mode. The exact control names can vary by installed version.
- Set output resolution and frame rate: Open Settings > Video. Set the output to 1920×1080 and choose 30 or 60 fps based on the source and motion requirements.
- Set the encoder values: In PRISM’s streaming/output settings, select H.264 and CBR, enter the matching bitrate from the table, and set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. The exact location or label for these encoder controls may differ by app version and selected encoder.
- Check audio: Keep audio enabled, use AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS, and check that it is audible and synchronized in YouTube’s preview. YouTube recommends 128 Kbps stereo audio.
- Connect YouTube Live: Use the stream key from YouTube Live Control Room in PRISM’s streaming setup. Treat the key as a password: do not show it on screen or share it. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport.
For a 1080p output, PRISM recommends matching the media file’s resolution to the transmission resolution. A 1920×1080 source avoids unnecessary scaling. Larger media files can use more CPU, and hardware decoding can increase GPU load. PRISM recommends a supported dedicated NVIDIA or AMD hardware encoder when available; the option depends on your graphics card. See PRISM’s FAQ, PRISM’s Media Source guide, and PRISM’s desktop performance guidance.
Confirm that the video really loops
Autoplay or restarting a source when it becomes active is not necessarily the same as repeating it continuously after playback ends. PRISM’s published desktop Media Source guide does not establish an indefinite repeat/loop switch or confirm its current label. Before scheduling an unattended broadcast, inspect the controls in your installed version and test what happens at the end of the file. Do not assume the stream will loop just because the video starts automatically.

Plan upload capacity and test before going public
Allow for the complete outbound stream bitrate, including audio, as well as other internet use in your home or office. YouTube recommends about 20% upload headroom beyond the stream’s required bitrate. Check actual upload performance rather than relying only on the plan’s advertised speed. If Wi-Fi fluctuates, test over wired Ethernet; a cable cannot solve an overloaded network or a weak connection from your ISP. YouTube encoder settings · YouTube streaming tips

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Set the stream to unlisted in YouTube Live Control Room for a representative test.
- Play footage with the kind of movement and audio you expect in the real broadcast.
- Check YouTube’s preview for picture, sound, synchronization, and whether the video restarts or repeats as intended.
- Watch stream health messages during the test. YouTube advises testing before starting a live stream and reviewing stream health.
Make sure the source video is yours or that you have the necessary rights to use it. A successful encoder test does not establish that you have permission to broadcast the content or that it meets YouTube’s rules on copyright and reused content. Review YouTube’s live-stream encoder guidance and the platform’s applicable policies before broadcasting.

Troubleshoot stutter, dropped frames, or poor stream health
- PRISM playback or encoding stutters: Reduce the output frame rate, bitrate, or resolution, then test again. Close resource-heavy programs. Use a source resolution that matches the 1080p output; consider a supported hardware encoder if your system has one.
- YouTube reports unstable upload or dropped frames: Check measured outbound capacity and leave the recommended 20% headroom. Reduce other network traffic and try wired Ethernet if Wi-Fi is fluctuating.
- Video looks soft or does not fill the output: Confirm the output is 1920×1080 and check the source file’s dimensions. Matching a 1080p source to the output avoids unnecessary scaling.
- The stream stops when the file ends: Test the source’s end-of-file behavior in PRISM rather than assuming autoplay means continuous repetition. If the installed version does not repeat it as needed, do not rely on that setup for unattended looping.
- Audio is missing or out of sync: Confirm audio is enabled in the source and stream settings, then inspect and listen to the YouTube preview during an unlisted test.
Or let it run in the cloud
