Choose Everblog HomeCal for a larger screen and fewer feature paywalls
At 21.5 inches, HomeCal is larger than the two 15.6-inch calendars in this comparison. WIRED describes it as a family calendar with meal planning, chores, to-dos and photo-frame use, without a subscription paywall for those features. Its reviewer notes that it displays one uploaded photo at a time. The larger screen may suit a shared household display better, but compare the price you can actually buy it for with the features you need.

Apolosign’s page, accessed October 7, listed $279 against a $349 regular price, illustrating why retailer and access date matter. The official listing says it supports Apple, Google, Outlook and other calendars, plus routines, chores and rewards, meal planning, lists, reminders, Google Photos and Android widgets. It includes a power adapter, wall-mount bracket, desk stand and manual.
The product offers a calendar-focused mode and a customizable Android dashboard. WIRED’s reviewer found the Android mode more customizable but less calendar-focused, with less-smooth syncing; WIRED’s guide also describes the interface as less intuitive than Skylight or Everblog in the reviewer’s experience. Treat those as reviewer assessments rather than guaranteed outcomes for every user.

Choose Skylight Calendar 2 for WIRED’s preferred interface and photo experience
WIRED calls Calendar 2 its all-around favorite, citing a clean interface and companion app, fairly seamless calendar syncing in the reviewer’s use, and a strong photo feature. The trade-offs in WIRED’s reporting are that some features are paywalled and the reported sale applied only to certain colors. Confirm which features require a paid plan for your intended use; the reported offers do not establish that Plus is required for basic calendar display.

Choose Skylight Max when screen size matters most
The 27-inch Max is the large-screen option here, not a like-for-like alternative to the 15.6-inch Apolosign and Calendar 2. WIRED’s reported Amazon offer was $560, compared with $290 for Calendar 2; its direct listing was $600 with one free month of Plus Plan. Decide whether the larger display is worth the difference for your household and viewing distance.

What to check before ordering
- Live price and exact offer: Compare the total at checkout, not just the discount percentage. Confirm retailer, screen size, model and—in Skylight Calendar 2’s case—color, because WIRED reported that only some colors were discounted.
- Subscription details: Identify the features you want, then check which are included and which require a paid plan. WIRED reports some Skylight features are paywalled and no feature paywall for the HomeCal features it describes; Apolosign’s official page lists its functions, but confirm current terms with the seller.
- Calendar services and editing: Verify that your specific calendar services are supported and whether edits made on the display sync back to the original calendar. Digital wall calendars show information synced from digital calendar apps, but importing and editing behavior varies by product and sharing settings. Changes made in a native calendar may appear quickly, while edits on the wall display may not write back.
- Screen placement: Compare dimensions with the wall or counter where the device will live and consider how far away household members will read it. A 27-inch Max occupies a different space and price tier from a 15.6-inch model.
- Interface preference: Decide whether you want a focused family-calendar experience or a more customizable Android-style dashboard, and how much setup you are comfortable with.
