Pick Squirdle if you want the closest six-guess Pokémon version of classic Wordle. Choose Pokédle for the widest range of clue types and an all-generation Pokédex. Try PokeDoku if category intersections and a 3×3 grid sound more interesting than sequential hints. Choose Daily Red when you want a longer, game-like challenge built around assembling a random team for a Pokémon Gold and Silver run.
These are independent fan projects rather than one official Pokémon product. Squirdle and Pokédle explicitly say they are unofficial and not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, The Pokémon Company or related rights holders. Availability, rules and reset schedules can change, so check each linked site when you play.

Squirdle: the closest match to classic Wordle
Squirdle keeps the familiar rhythm: one answer, a limited number of attempts and information that becomes more useful after every guess. Its landing page describes the format as “One shared puzzle every day. Solve it in six tries.” You type any part of a Pokémon’s name, select a result from the search list and inspect the feedback before making the next guess.

How a Squirdle turn works
- Open squirdle.org and start the daily puzzle.
- Enter part or all of a Pokémon’s name in the search field. Select the intended Pokémon from the results rather than relying on a free-text spelling.
- Use the returned attributes to narrow the next guess. The game compares the Pokémon’s type, home region, name length and species classification.
- Continue until you identify the answer or use all six guesses.
- After the daily attempt, open Squirdle Classic for unlimited random Pokémon games if you want more practice.
The four hint categories
- Type: Use a matching type to keep candidates with the same elemental identity. Dual-type Pokémon make this more informative, because a partial match can point to one shared type rather than an identical pair.
- Home region: A region result limits the search to the generation or geographic grouping associated with the Pokémon.
- Name length: The length clue is useful when several candidates share a type and region. Count the displayed name rather than guessing from pronunciation.
- Species classification: The Pokédex species label can separate otherwise similar candidates, such as Pokémon that share a type and region but have different classifications.
Squirdle also lets you reveal up to four mystery-profile hints covering those categories. Revealing a hint trades some of the satisfaction of pure deduction for a controlled way to get unstuck, which is useful when your early guesses were too narrow.
When Squirdle is the right choice
Choose Squirdle when you want a predictable daily ritual that takes roughly the mental shape of Wordle: make a hypothesis, read structured feedback and spend a finite number of attempts. It is less suited to players who want pictures, cries or descriptive clues, because its central loop is attribute deduction.
Reset timing and practice mode
The site says everyone receives the same daily answer and that Squirdle Classic supplies unlimited random games after the daily encounter. Its current page says the shared puzzle follows New York time and a fresh puzzle unlocks every night at 11:00 PM ET. Treat that as an operational detail rather than a permanent global standard: the displayed time can change, and the phrase “11:00 PM ET” can represent different UTC offsets as daylight-saving rules change. If the puzzle has not refreshed when you expect it to, reload the page and check the site’s own notice.

Pokédle: the broadest single destination
Pokédle is the best pick when “Pokémon Wordle” means more than one kind of clue. Its Classic mode compares six attributes, while separate modes turn the same identification idea into silhouette, pixel-art, cry and description challenges. An Unlimited mode provides endless practice and is explicitly described as unranked.
Classic mode feedback
In Classic, each guess is compared by type, generation, color, evolution stage, height and weight. The interface uses a three-color signal:

Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Green: the attribute matches.
- Orange: the attribute is a partial match.
- Red: the attribute does not match.
Partial feedback matters most for numeric and progression attributes. A height or weight that is close can point you toward a range, while an evolution-stage match can tell you whether to test a basic, middle or final form. Read the color together with the actual value shown; a color alone does not tell you how far away a number is.
Alternate Pokédle modes
| Mode | Clue presented | Skill it emphasizes |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | Attribute comparison for type, generation, color, evolution stage, height and weight | Pokédex statistics and systematic elimination |
| Silhouette | A Pokémon outline | Shape recognition and body-plan memory |
| Pixel | Pixel-art presentation | Recognizing sprites and simplified visual details |
| Cry | A Pokémon sound | Audio memory and cry familiarity |
| Description | A written description | Reading Pokédex-style language and matching traits |
| Unlimited | Endless practice sessions | Experimentation without a ranked daily result |
Pokédle’s stated scope and schedule
Pokédle says it is free, requires no sign-up and contains all 1,025 Pokémon from every generation. The site states that the worldwide daily reset occurs at 00:00 UTC. That is a fixed UTC reference, so the local clock time depends on where you live; for example, midnight UTC arrives earlier in Europe and Africa than in North America. If you are coordinating guesses with friends, agree on UTC rather than assuming everyone’s local midnight is the same moment.
The page also labels Pokédle an unofficial, fan-made game and says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokémon Company. Those statements describe the project’s status, not an endorsement of its accuracy or permanence.
Who gets the most from Pokédle?
Pokédle suits a mixed group because one person can prefer the daily Classic puzzle while another switches to Cry or Silhouette. It is also the easiest of these four to use for deliberate practice: Unlimited mode lets you test a hypothesis repeatedly without spending the shared daily attempt. The trade-off is that its six-attribute system can feel denser than Squirdle’s four hint categories, especially when you are learning how partial matches are displayed.
PokeDoku: solve intersections in a 3×3 grid
PokeDoku changes the question from “Which Pokémon matches these clues?” to “Which Pokémon satisfies both this row category and this column category?” Current comparison coverage describes it as a 3×3 category-grid puzzle. Every cell is an intersection, so a legal answer must belong to the category on its row and the category on its column at the same time.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

How the grid differs from Wordle-style guessing
- Category overlap replaces sequential narrowing. You are not waiting for one attribute to turn green. You are looking for a Pokémon that belongs to two sets simultaneously.
- Each cell is an independent decision. A correct answer in one square does not automatically reveal the answer to another square, although the same Pokémon knowledge can help with both.
- Rare intersections reward breadth. A broad category may be easy alone but difficult when paired with a narrow one, such as a particular type, game generation or other defining group.
- Grid management matters. Keep the row and column conditions visible while you search your memory; a Pokémon that fits one clue but misses the other is not a valid entry.
A practical PokeDoku solving routine
- Scan all nine intersections before entering anything. Identify the row-column pair that has the smallest likely candidate set.
- Start with a Pokémon you can justify for both categories, not one that merely “feels close” to one of them.
- After filling a cell, use it as a confidence check. If your memory of a category is uncertain, choose a different cell rather than building the whole grid on one doubtful assumption.
- Reserve obscure or legendary candidates for intersections where common Pokémon clearly do not fit. This keeps your early guesses efficient without pretending that rarity is evidence.
- Review every filled square against both labels before submitting the grid.
PokeDoku is a natural follow-up when you are tired of six-attempt formats but still want a compact daily puzzle. It rewards category recognition and overlap knowledge rather than the attribute-by-attribute feedback used by Squirdle and Pokédle.

GamesRadar reported that fan developer AmiBuilds created Daily Red as a Pokémon Wordle-like project in which you try to beat Pokémon Gold and Silver with a random team each day. Instead of identifying one hidden Pokémon, you work toward an RPG objective.
What makes Daily Red different
The random-team premise changes the source of difficulty. You are not only recalling names, types or Pokédex data; you are considering how a restricted team can progress through a game-generation challenge. That makes it a better fit for players who enjoy planning, matchup knowledge and a sense of completion over a single reveal.
- Longer session: Expect a broader daily run rather than a quick sequence of six guesses.
- Team context: The Pokémon you receive matters as a group, so evaluating one member in isolation is not enough.
- Generation familiarity: Knowledge of the Gold and Silver era is particularly useful when the challenge asks you to work within that game context.
- Fan-project volatility: GamesRadar’s report identifies it as a newer fan project. Its availability, interface and rules may change faster than those of a long-running daily puzzle, so verify that the current version is accessible before planning a routine around it.
Daily Red is the most substantial option here, but it is not a direct replacement for a six-guess Wordle. Open it when you have time for an experiment or a mini-run, not when you only want one fast answer before work.
How the four games test different Pokémon knowledge
| Knowledge area | Squirdle | Pokédle | PokeDoku | Daily Red |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pokédex taxonomy and attributes | Type, region, name length and species classification | Type, generation, color, evolution stage, height and weight | Only when a category depends on that information | Useful, but secondary to team and game knowledge |
| Visual recognition | Limited in the core loop | Central in Silhouette and Pixel modes | Helpful for recalling candidates | Helpful when identifying team members |
| Audio recognition | Not part of the listed core hints | Central in Cry mode | Not the core mechanic | Not the core mechanic |
| Category intersections | Indirectly, through elimination | Indirectly, through attribute combinations | The defining mechanic | Used for team decisions rather than grid cells |
| RPG planning | Not required | Not required | Not required | The defining objective |
Choosing by the time you have
You have five minutes
Use Squirdle’s daily puzzle. Six attempts and four possible hint categories create a clear stopping point. If you finish early, note your result and leave Classic mode for a later session rather than turning a quick ritual into an endless scroll.

You want several puzzles in one sitting
Open Pokédle Unlimited or Squirdle Classic. Pokédle gives you mode variety, while Squirdle keeps the same deduction pattern with fresh random Pokémon. Neither mode is the shared daily result, so unlimited practice should not be treated as a second official score.
You prefer a visual or audio test
Choose Pokédle’s Silhouette, Pixel or Cry mode. These modes ask you to retrieve recognition memory instead of calculating from type and numeric attributes.
You enjoy logic grids
Try PokeDoku. Approach each square as a set intersection and start with the most constrained row-column pair. It will feel more like a category-placement puzzle than a guessing game.
You want a mini Pokémon adventure
Choose Daily Red when you have enough time to manage a random team and pursue the Gold and Silver objective. Check that the project is currently available before you begin, because newer fan projects can be revised or taken offline.

Daily games are easiest to share when everyone knows which clock controls the reset. Pokédle states 00:00 UTC worldwide. Squirdle’s page currently states 11:00 PM ET and says it follows New York time. Those are different schedules, so friends can legitimately see different puzzles at the same local hour. Share the game name and reset standard with any result, and avoid posting the answer before other players have had their attempt.

For a spoiler-safe routine, complete the daily puzzle first, record only your attempt count or a spoiler-free emoji pattern, then use an unlimited mode. A browser tab left open across the reset can display stale state; refresh before assuming that a puzzle has failed to change.
Common problems and practical fixes
The search box will not accept my Pokémon name
In Squirdle, type only part of the name and choose the matching result from the suggestions. This avoids punctuation, regional-form or spelling issues that can occur when entering a full name manually.
A color clue seems contradictory
In Pokédle, read the color together with the attribute label and value. Orange means partial rather than exact; it is not the same as green, and it does not mean the Pokémon is unrelated. Recheck height, weight and evolution stage before discarding a candidate.
The daily puzzle has not reset
Check the schedule the site currently displays, then refresh the page. For Pokédle, calculate from 00:00 UTC. For Squirdle, account for the New York-time schedule and daylight-saving changes. If the site itself reports an outage, wait rather than repeatedly submitting guesses.
A fan project is unavailable
Do not assume that a cached social post reflects the current status. Daily Red is described as a newer fan project, and any fan-made game can change domains, rules or hosting. Use one of the established alternatives above for a reliable daily routine and return to the project when its current page is confirmed.
Are these official Pokémon games?
No. Squirdle and Pokédle explicitly identify themselves as unofficial fan projects and disclaim affiliation with Nintendo, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company. The same fan-made context applies to PokeDoku and Daily Red as described in their available coverage. Treat the sites as independent entertainment projects: they can be free and useful without being official products, and their rules or availability can change without the release process used for an official game.
An offline option for groups
If your household enjoys identification games but does not want another browser tab, the Pokémon Trainer Guess game is a physical alternative described in a Zanzoon manual. One player thinks of a Pokémon and the game attempts to guess it, making it a natural group follow-up to these browser challenges. Check the current retailer listing, stock and price before buying; those details are not established here and can change by region.

Quick Recap
Recommended post-puzzle routine
- Finish the shared daily puzzle you started.
- Choose the next format based on your mood: Squirdle Classic for more deduction, Pokédle for a different clue type, PokeDoku for a grid or Daily Red for an RPG-style run.
- Set a time limit before opening an unlimited mode so practice remains intentional.
- Record the date, mode and result if you are tracking improvement. Do not compare scores across different formats as though they measured the same skill.
- Check reset notices and project availability periodically, especially for fan-made games whose schedules or hosting can change.
