There is no evidence-backed, universally best Pokémon partner for Zoroark in Pokémon GO PvP. The reliable way to build around it is to pair its damage and resistances with teammates that cover its Bug, Fairy, and Fighting weaknesses, absorb attacks with better bulk, and preserve alignment when shields and swaps matter. Treat any named trio as a league-, moveset-, and shield-specific experiment rather than a proven universal team.
What makes Zoroark difficult to pair
Zoroark is a fragile Dark-type. It can contribute useful pressure, but it cannot consistently stay in front of neutral or super-effective damage for long. Its weaknesses are Bug, Fairy, and Fighting attacks. It resists Dark and Ghost attacks and has a particularly valuable resistance to Psychic attacks.

That combination creates a clear team-building job. A partner should help handle the attacks that force Zoroark out, while also giving the team at least one Pokémon that can take repeated damage. Zoroark can then be used where its resistances and charged-move pressure are relevant instead of being asked to absorb every matchup.

Zoroark’s current PvP profile
The following figures come from Pokémon GO Hub’s 2026 Zoroark PvP guide. They are guide rankings among eligible Pokémon, not player-wide win rates, usage rates, or tournament results.
| League | Guide position | Example build listed by the guide |
|---|---|---|
| Great League | 797 of 1,143 eligible Pokémon | 1/15/15 example at level 21.5 and 1,496 CP |
| Ultra League | 628 of 841 eligible Pokémon | Example at level 42 and 2,497 CP |
The same guide does not provide Master League ranking information. Do not assume that a Great League or Ultra League position transfers to Master League, where different stat floors, move pressure, and team structures change the value of a glassy Pokémon.
Moves to account for before choosing a teammate
Shadow Claw, Foul Play, and Sludge Bomb
Pokémon GO Hub’s October 2026 PvP guide lists Shadow Claw as the fast move, with Foul Play and Sludge Bomb as the charged moves for both Great and Ultra League. A partner should be judged against this actual set, not an assumed moveset from another game or an older article.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Foul Play gives Zoroark a Dark-type charged attack that fits its role against targets vulnerable to Dark damage. Sludge Bomb broadens its pressure and can make Fairy matchups less straightforward than they would be against a Dark-only moveset. Neither move removes Zoroark’s basic problem: it remains fragile and can lose value quickly if it is forced to take repeated fast- or charged-move damage.
Sucker Punch as a newer option
Recent Pokémon GO Hub coverage also discusses Sucker Punch as a newly available PvP option alongside Foul Play and Sludge Bomb. That coverage characterizes Zoroark as glassy and says the new fast move does not turn it into a strong general pick. If you use Sucker Punch, recalculate the team in the current league and moveset rather than assuming results from Shadow Claw remain valid.
Move balance and simulator results can change. Record the date, league, moveset, and shield settings whenever you evaluate a team so that an old result is not mistaken for a current one.

The partner roles Zoroark actually needs
1. A way to manage Bug, Fairy, and Fighting threats
The first screen for a teammate is defensive coverage. Zoroark is weak to Bug, Fairy, and Fighting attacks, so a partner should either resist those attack types, pressure the Pokémon that commonly use them, or create a favorable enough matchup that Zoroark does not have to face them unprotected.

A Pokémon can technically resist an attack and still be unable to switch into the matchup because of low bulk, poor move timing, or a damaging secondary type. Check the actual battle simulation with the intended shields and energy states.
2. A durable teammate that can take pressure
Zoroark’s low durability means the team benefits from a Pokémon that can remain on the field after taking neutral damage. This teammate may function as a lead, a safe switch, or a closer depending on the rest of the lineup, but the important property is that it does not collapse as soon as alignment is lost.
Durability also gives you more options after a bad lead. A bulky partner can absorb a charged attack, reach a move, or force a shield while Zoroark is preserved for a more favorable matchup. That is generally more valuable than adding another fragile attacker that leaves the team with no recovery plan.
3. A partner that does not duplicate Zoroark’s liabilities
Two Pokémon that share the same Bug, Fairy, or Fighting problem can make the team easy to exploit. Before selecting a second Dark-type or another glass cannon, list the attacks that defeat Zoroark and check whether the proposed partner is also vulnerable to them. Shared weaknesses are not automatically disqualifying, but they require a third Pokémon with a clear answer and enough bulk to reach it.
4. A Pokémon that benefits from Zoroark’s resistances
Zoroark’s Dark, Ghost, and Psychic resistances can create useful switch patterns. If an opponent is relying on one of those attack types, Zoroark may be able to enter, preserve health, and generate pressure. The partner should convert that opportunity into a team advantage rather than leaving Zoroark isolated after the resisted exchange.

This is why a pairing is more than “find a counter to Fairy.” You want complementary defensive profiles: Zoroark handles selected resisted attacks, while the partner handles the attacks Zoroark cannot take.
How to choose and test a partner
- Choose the league first. Decide whether the team is for Great League, Ultra League, or an experimental Master League build. Lock the CP cap and the exact Zoroark moveset before comparing teammates.
- Define Zoroark’s job. Decide whether it is intended to lead, switch in after an opponent’s move, or close with shields. A Pokémon that is suitable beside a lead Zoroark may be a poor choice if Zoroark is being saved for the endgame.
- Write down the three weakness types. Use Bug, Fairy, and Fighting as the first coverage screen. Reject candidates that leave the team with no credible response to one of these types unless the third slot clearly supplies that response.
- Add a durability check. Ask which teammate can take a neutral charged attack, survive a poor alignment, or force the opponent to spend a shield. If the answer is “neither,” the team is relying on perfect play and favorable leads.
- Check move interactions. Test the exact fast and charged moves, not just species names. Include Shadow Claw or Sucker Punch as appropriate, plus Foul Play and Sludge Bomb, and use the current moves on every candidate.
- Run simulations in PvPoke. Use the team builder and matchup simulations for the intended league, lead order, shield count, and switch settings. PvPoke describes its rankings as best guesses, and exact ordering can change; use the results to find pressure points rather than to declare a permanent champion.
- Inspect losses manually. For each bad matchup, identify whether the failure comes from a shared weakness, insufficient bulk, losing alignment, or a move-timing problem. A partner that wins one headline matchup but creates several new losses may not improve the team.
- Repeat after changing one variable. Change the partner, lead order, or moveset one at a time. Otherwise you cannot tell which change improved or damaged the lineup.
Great League considerations
The Great League example in Pokémon GO Hub’s 2026 guide uses a 1/15/15 Zoroark at level 21.5 and 1,496 CP. That is an example build, not a universal requirement for every account or team. If you use a different appraisal or level, rerun the simulations because stat products, breakpoints, and bulk can alter individual matchups.
Great League has a large eligible field: the guide lists Zoroark at 797 of 1,143 eligible Pokémon. That low position does not prove that Zoroark cannot work, but it does argue against building a team that depends on it winning broad neutral matchups. Use a partner with a clear defensive purpose and preserve Zoroark for the targets it can pressure or resist.

Ultra League considerations
The guide’s Ultra League example reaches 2,497 CP at level 42, and its position is 628 of 841 eligible Pokémon. As in Great League, this is a guide ranking rather than a win-rate statistic. Ultra League opponents can punish a fragile Pokémon quickly, so test whether the partner can absorb a charged move or maintain alignment after a swap.
Do not copy a Great League team unchanged. Rebuild the matchup list at Ultra League levels, confirm the exact CP and moves, and check whether Zoroark reaches its charged attacks before being removed. A partner that supplies bulk in Great League may have different breakpoints or matchup responsibilities in Ultra League.
Master League: what can and cannot be concluded
Pokémon GO Hub’s 2026 guide reports no Master League ranking information for Zoroark. That means there is no supported ranking-based recommendation to import into Master League from that guide. You can still experiment, but describe the result as a personal simulation or battle test, not as an established best pairing.

For a Master League experiment, be especially strict about the candidate’s ability to survive high-damage fast moves and charged attacks. Use current simulations and document the level, moves, shields, and lead order; do not extrapolate from the Great League 1/15/15 example.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBattle timing that changes Zoroark decisions
Official Pokémon GO Trainer Battle updates for 2026 describe fixed-duration turns. Damage and energy resolve at the end of each turn, swaps resolve before damage, quick swaps cost one turn, forced swaps do not cost a turn, and Charged Attacks begin at the start of the next turn.
The official update states: “Swaps always resolve before damage.”
For a fragile Pokémon, these rules make preservation and alignment especially important:
- Plan the swap turn. A quick swap costs one turn, so switching out of a bad matchup is not free. Decide whether saving Zoroark is worth the lost action and the opponent’s possible response.
- Use resisted entries deliberately. Zoroark’s Psychic, Ghost, and Dark resistances can justify an entry, but the swap must happen early enough that a charged attack does not remove it before the turn resolves.
- Respect charged-attack timing. Because a Charged Attack begins at the start of the next turn, count the opponent’s energy and avoid treating a move as instantaneous damage.
- Exploit forced swaps carefully. A forced swap does not carry the same turn cost as a voluntary quick swap. Keep enough health and energy on the partner to capitalize when the game changes alignment.
A practical evaluation matrix
Use this checklist for every proposed partner. It keeps the decision tied to Zoroark’s actual needs instead of a single ranking number.

Common pairing mistakes
Choosing a partner only because it has a high ranking
A ranking is a starting point, not proof that a Pokémon complements Zoroark. PvPoke’s rankings are matchup simulations and estimates, and Pokémon GO Hub’s positions are guide rankings with stated eligible-pool denominators. Neither establishes a universal Zoroark duo.

Using old move information
Older guides may omit Sucker Punch or assume a different fast move. Confirm the current move availability and rerun the team before relying on a previous result.
Building three attackers with no durable option
Zoroark already brings fragility. Adding two more Pokémon that lose quickly can leave no way to recover from a bad lead or absorb a charged attack. At least one teammate should have a clear durability or stabilizing role.
Ignoring shield and swap conditions
A matchup can change when both shields are available, when one side has shield advantage, or when a Pokémon enters with stored energy. Test the conditions you expect to play rather than accepting a single default simulation.
Assuming type coverage guarantees a win
Resisting an attack does not guarantee that Zoroark or its partner wins the complete matchup. Fast-move pressure, charged-move timing, bulk, and energy all matter. Treat type coverage as the first filter, then verify the full battle.
What a defensible Zoroark team looks like
A defensible lineup has three distinct jobs:
- Zoroark: applies Dark- and Poison-type charged-move pressure and takes advantage of its Dark, Ghost, and Psychic resistances.
- Coverage partner: gives the team a credible response to one or more of Bug, Fairy, and Fighting threats.
- Stabilizer: supplies enough bulk or matchup flexibility to survive a poor alignment and create a second chance for Zoroark.
Those are roles, not a claim that one named species fills them best. The correct species depends on the league, current move balance, exact IVs and CP, lead order, and shield plan. If a proposed trio cannot be explained in those terms, it is probably being chosen because of reputation rather than team fit.
Bottom line for choosing a partner
Start with Zoroark’s three weaknesses—Bug, Fairy, and Fighting—then add a durable teammate and test the result in the exact league and shield conditions you intend to play. Use Zoroark’s Dark, Ghost, and Psychic resistances as targeted entry opportunities, not as a reason to leave it exposed. As of October 2026, the available evidence supports this role-based method, not a single universally best Pokémon pairing.
