For Palworld 1.0, start with the volcanic Mount Obsidian route near (-630, -440). If you want a permanent mining base, the strongest cited late-game area is south of the Foot of the Volcano fast-travel point, around (-744, -442). Sulfur is needed for gunpowder, so it becomes an ammunition bottleneck once you rely on firearms and explosives. Coordinates can shift between map versions and atlases; use the numbers below as navigation targets, then confirm the exact node and build area on a current interactive map before committing a Palbox.

Best sulfur locations in Palworld right now
The practical choice depends on whether you need a quick load of ore or a site that can support an automated mining base. Mount Obsidian is the most useful waypoint for a fast harvesting run. The Foot of the Volcano area is better suited to a dedicated base with storage and worker Pals. A current atlas is useful when neither location is convenient, because the available sulfur nodes are spread across multiple clusters.

Mount Obsidian summit route: approximately (-630, -440)
Palguides identifies the summit area around (-630, -440) as a sulfur location in its Palworld 1.0 route guide. Treat this as a waypoint rather than an exact guaranteed pin: land or fast-travel as close as possible, locate the visible deposits, mine them with a Pal that has a suitable Mining work suitability, and leave once your carry capacity is full.

This is the best first stop when you need sulfur immediately for ammunition or explosives and do not want to relocate a base. It also works as a repeatable route if your existing base is elsewhere. Bring enough heat protection, healing items and combat supplies for volcanic terrain, and leave room in your inventory for the ore.
Foot of the Volcano base area: approximately (-744, -442)
A current location guide lists the area south of the Foot of the Volcano fast-travel point, around (-744, -442), as a late-game sulfur-farming base option. The value of this site is not just the coordinate; it is the combination of nearby sulfur, space for a Palbox and the possibility of pairing sulfur work with other mining resources.
Choose this area when you are tired of flying or gliding to individual deposits and can spare a base slot. Walk the surrounding ground before placing the Palbox. Check that workers can reach the nodes, that there is enough flat buildable space for beds and storage, and that the route from the fast-travel point is safe enough for repeated trips.

PalMods reports 663 static sulfur placements grouped into 10 clusters in its 1.0 files. Palworld.tools also lists an atlas with 663 sulfur locations. Open a current map, select the cluster closest to your current fast-travel point, and use the landmark and terrain as confirmation when you arrive. A pin is a planning aid, not a substitute for checking the location in your game.
The atlas approach is particularly useful when your map progress makes Mount Obsidian inconvenient, when you are combining sulfur with ore or coal, or when the summit and Foot of the Volcano sites are already occupied by another base.

How to decide between a mining run and a sulfur base
Compare the site on five practical criteria before you travel or place a Palbox:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Node density: More deposits within one worker route reduce idle time and make a base worthwhile.
- Fast-travel distance: A close waypoint favors manual harvesting; a remote but dense cluster can justify permanent infrastructure.
- Buildable ground: Workers need a clear path between the Palbox, beds, storage and deposits. A coordinate beside a cliff may be excellent for mining but poor for construction.
- Danger and environmental conditions: Volcanic areas demand appropriate protection and a plan for hostile encounters. A site that repeatedly interrupts workers may produce less than a safer, slightly smaller cluster.
- Other resources: If sulfur shares a cluster with ore or coal, one base can support several production chains. If you only need a one-time supply, the extra setup may not repay its cost.
Resource-map documentation distinguishes dedicated mining bases from route farming and identifies combined-resource sites. Your “best” location therefore changes with your current fast-travel network, available base slots and whether you value immediate ammunition or long-term automation.
How to farm sulfur before automation
Until you unlock the Sulfur Quarry, overworld deposits are the dependable source. Palworld.tools places the Sulfur Quarry at technology level 46, so most players will spend part of their progression mining by hand or with worker Pals.
- Choose a target cluster. Start with Mount Obsidian at approximately
(-630, -440), or select a closer cluster in a current atlas. - Prepare for the trip. Equip heat protection suitable for volcanic terrain, carry healing and combat supplies, and leave inventory space for sulfur. Take a Pal capable of mining so you are not doing every node yourself.
- Travel to the landmark, not just the number. Coordinate systems can differ between atlases. Use the named area and terrain shape to locate the deposits once you are nearby.
- Clear the cluster. Mine each visible sulfur node, collect the drops and check behind rock formations or along the slope before leaving. Do not build until you have confirmed that the cluster is large enough for your purpose.
- Return through fast travel. Deposit the ore at your nearest storage, then repeat the route when your gunpowder production needs another batch.
This loop is usually more efficient than building a temporary base for a small ammunition requirement. It also lets you test a cluster’s safety and accessibility before spending a base slot.

How to build a sulfur mining base near (-744, -442)
The Foot of the Volcano area is the cited option for players who want local automation rather than repeated expeditions. Place the base only after confirming that the sulfur nodes fall inside the Palbox working radius and that there is room for worker infrastructure.
- Scout south of the Foot of the Volcano fast-travel point. Use
(-744, -442)as the search center, then walk the area to identify the actual deposits. - Test the terrain. Look for a reasonably flat section with clear access around the nodes. Avoid placing the Palbox where cliffs, narrow ledges or structures would block worker navigation.
- Place the Palbox to cover the resources. The exact placement should be determined by the node spread you can see in your current world, not by copying a coordinate to the last digit.
- Add the essentials first. Provide beds, food and storage before adding decorative or secondary buildings. Workers that cannot recover or unload efficiently will spend less time mining.
- Assign mining-capable Pals and observe them. Watch one complete work cycle. If a Pal gets stuck, move the Palbox or clear the obstruction before expanding the base.
- Add production and transport only after the route works. Keep sulfur storage close to the mining flow, and expand toward ore or coal only if those resources are also inside a practical working area.
A base is justified when the cluster is dense, reachable and close enough to your other operations to save repeated travel. If workers spend most of their time pathfinding or fighting, manual runs from Mount Obsidian may still produce sulfur faster.
Why sulfur matters for ammunition
Sulfur feeds gunpowder, which in turn supports firearms and explosives. That makes sulfur an ammunition bottleneck: you can have the weapon unlocked and still be unable to use it regularly if your sulfur supply is inconsistent.
Keep a reserve rather than converting every piece immediately. A shortfall can stop both routine ammunition production and explosive crafting, while a reserve lets you respond to a boss attempt or an area expedition without first making a volcanic trip. Storage near the production chain also prevents miners from idling while they wait for somewhere to unload.

Do not treat every sulfur coordinate found online as confirmed Palworld 1.0 data. The resource-map documentation labels several entries as pre-1.0. Palworld Companion says its coordinates were re-checked for version 1.0.4 on September 25, 2026, which is a stronger reference for that version than an early-2024 waypoint list.

Different atlases can apply different coordinate transforms. If a number appears to place you in the wrong biome, compare the landmark name, coastline or mountain outline and the map pin before assuming the node is gone. A current map is also the right authority for the exact placement of a Palbox, because a small coordinate discrepancy can put a deposit just outside the base radius.
Common sulfur-farming problems and fixes
The coordinate leads to empty ground
Check the map version and atlas first. Legacy points may have been recorded before Palworld 1.0, and an atlas may use a different coordinate transform. Search around the named landmark rather than standing on the number alone.
The node is visible but outside base range
Move the planned Palbox toward the center of the cluster and recheck the working boundary. If doing so sacrifices too much flat ground, use the location for route farming instead of forcing a poor base layout.
Mining Pals keep getting stuck
Remove narrow-path obstructions, reposition storage and beds, and observe another work cycle. If the terrain remains unreliable, relocate within the same cluster or return to manual harvesting.
The trip costs more supplies than the sulfur is worth
Use the nearest atlas cluster, combine sulfur collection with ore or coal, and fill your inventory before returning. For a small immediate requirement, a single Mount Obsidian run is usually more sensible than establishing a new base.
Sulfur production stops after unlocking the quarry
Unlocking the Sulfur Quarry at technology level 46 does not remove the value of an overworld reserve. Keep a functioning route or accessible deposits for periods when quarry output cannot meet ammunition and explosive demand.
Quick recommendation
Use (-630, -440) near Mount Obsidian for the fastest practical sulfur run. Build around (-744, -442) south of the Foot of the Volcano when you have a late-game base slot and want automated sulfur alongside other mining. For every other coordinate, verify the current atlas pin and the in-game landmark before traveling or placing a Palbox.
