For buyers in India, current listings under ₹5,000 do not establish a dependable conventional Android smartphone that is confirmed available to buy. Many phones in this price range are keypad models or basic touch feature phones, not Android smartphones. One Android-labeled listing is marked upcoming, so treat it as a lead to verify rather than a confirmed option.
What counts as a smartphone under ₹5,000?
A conventional Android smartphone runs Android and supports the apps and services people generally expect from a smartphone. A touch screen alone does not make a device one: the HMD Touch 4G is listed as a basic touch feature phone, while keypad phones are intended primarily for calling and similar basic uses.

This distinction matters because India price roundups combine these categories. Check the operating system and app compatibility, not just the screen or the word “phone,” before deciding that a listing meets your needs.

Listings to know about in this budget
| Device | Category and listing details | What to make of it |
|---|---|---|
| Infinix Smart 10 HD | Smartprix listed it at ₹4,999 with Android 14, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, a 5,000 mAh battery, a 6.6-inch 720 × 1612 90 Hz display, a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. The October 7, 2026 listing labels it “Upcoming.” Smartprix | Potential Android option, but not confirmed available for purchase by that listing. | HMD Touch 4G | Beebom listed it at ₹3,999 with a 3.2-inch QVGA TFT screen, 64 MB RAM, 128 MB storage and a 1,950 mAh battery. Gadgets Now lists a Unisoc T127, 2 MP rear camera, and the same memory and battery figures. Beebom; Gadgets Now | Basic touch feature phone, not an established conventional Android smartphone. Its 64 MB RAM and 128 MB storage are important limits for app use. |
| HMD 130 Music, HMD 150 Music, HMD 100 and HMD 101 | Beebom listed these keypad models at ₹1,899, ₹2,249, ₹1,049 and ₹1,069 respectively. Beebom | Basic calling or secondary-phone choices, not Android smartphones. |
| Nokia 235 4G (2024) and Nokia 220 4G (2024) | MySmartPrice listed them at ₹3,999 and ₹3,599, respectively. It also listed HMD Touch 4G at ₹4,049. MySmartPrice | These price-list entries do not establish that the models are conventional Android smartphones or confirm a retailer’s current stock and checkout price. |
Why a listed price is not a buying guarantee
Prices for the same handset vary between services: HMD Touch 4G appears at ₹3,999 on Beebom and Gadgets Now, and at ₹4,049 on MySmartPrice. MySmartPrice notes that prices vary by store and location and deals can change day to day. A roundup price is therefore a snapshot, not a promise of the amount you will pay.

How to decide if none of the listings fits
- If Android apps are essential: Do not substitute a touch feature phone just because it has a display. The listings here do not confirm a conventional Android model available below the cap.
- If you need calls or a secondary handset: A keypad feature phone may fit, provided its connectivity and other features suit your needs.
- If you can stretch your budget: Consider raising the limit and checking current Android-phone availability and total price before buying. The listings cited here do not establish a specific higher-budget recommendation.
- If you are considering used or refurbished: The available listings do not establish the safety or value of that route. Assess the device’s condition, battery, warranty or return protection, and seller before committing.
