Start with 1080p, a quality upscaling mode, Medium Lumen or global illumination, Medium volumetric fog, high textures when your VRAM allows, reduced shadows and reflections, and motion blur disabled. Let shader pre-compilation finish before judging traversal stutter. This is a sensible starting point rather than a guaranteed frame-rate preset: the published specifications give hardware floors, but no promised resolution or FPS.
Official PC requirements
Steam lists two hardware tiers for Hellraiser: Revival. The requirements were checked on 18 October 2026 and apply to the Windows PC version. An SSD is recommended in both tiers, and the installation requires 80 GB of free space.

See the Steam product listing for the current requirement text. These are compatibility tiers, not performance guarantees. Steam does not state that the minimum parts deliver 1080p at 60 frames per second, nor does it publish a target for 30, 60, 90 or 120 FPS. A machine that meets the minimum can launch the game yet still require reduced settings, upscaling or a lower frame-rate target.

Systems near minimum
A PC around the GTX 1660 or RX Vega 64 class with 8 GB of system memory should begin at 1920×1080. Use a Low or Medium base preset, a quality-oriented upscaler, Medium lighting and volumetrics, and conservative shadow and reflection settings. Keep textures as high as the card’s available VRAM permits, but watch for texture streaming pauses or sudden memory pressure. This profile is an inference from the listed parts, not an official preset or benchmark.

Systems near recommended
A PC around the RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT with 16 GB of RAM can start at 1080p High. Once the frame-time graph is stable in a representative scene, test 2560×1440. Keep a quality upscaler at 1440p first; switch to Balanced only when native-resolution rendering is too heavy for the frame rate you chose. The recommended tier gives more CPU, GPU and memory headroom, but it still does not establish a universal FPS result.
Hardware above the recommended tier
Faster hardware gives you room to raise output resolution, lighting or volumetrics, but the same tuning order remains useful. Establish a repeatable baseline before increasing one setting. A powerful graphics card cannot eliminate a CPU limit, shader compilation hitch or storage bottleneck, and a faster CPU cannot compensate for insufficient VRAM at a high texture setting.
Set a baseline before changing anything
Without a baseline, it is easy to mistake a scene change or shader compilation event for an improvement. Use the same short route or room every time, preferably one that includes movement, combat and the fog-heavy Labyrinth atmosphere.

- Record average FPS and the noticeable 1% lows in the same scene. The lower result matters because it reflects hitching and uneven frame delivery better than an average alone.
- Play or move through the route for long enough to load its textures and effects, then record the result again.
- Change one setting at a time. Restart only when the game asks you to, and keep a note of each change.
- Choose a sustainable target that suits your monitor and hardware. The published requirements do not choose that target for you.
If a setting change produces no measurable difference, restore it and test another category. A GPU-limited system responds to resolution, upscaling, lighting and effects changes; a CPU-limited system may show little improvement when those options are lowered.

Use upscaling before cutting image-defining settings
AMD’s official Hellraiser: Revival page documents AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) as a way to improve performance while preserving visual detail: AMD’s game technology page. It does not publish a universal FPS gain or prescribe one mode for every GPU.

At 1080p
Begin with a Quality-oriented mode. It renders fewer internal pixels while retaining more detail than a Performance mode, making it a sensible first test for a minimum-tier card. If the image is already stable and sharp, compare native rendering; if frame time is too high, move down one quality step rather than immediately lowering textures.
At 1440p and 4K
Start with Quality if the recommended-tier card can sustain your chosen target. Use Balanced only when native or Quality rendering is insufficient. Performance modes can recover more GPU time but are more likely to show shimmering, soft fine detail or ghosting, especially in dark environments and fog.
Other upscalers
DLSS or XeSS availability is build-dependent unless the current in-game menu confirms it. The official pages cited above document FSR, not a complete list of PC upscaling options. Do not assume an option exists because a different game offers it; inspect the graphics menu after each major patch.
Lower the settings that cost the most frame time
Lumen or global illumination
Dynamic global illumination can be expensive because it affects much of the scene rather than one isolated object. If the GPU is saturated, move this option from High to Medium and compare the same route. Look for changes in indirect light, shadow softness and dark-room detail. Lowering it usually preserves more texture detail than dropping the texture setting.
Volumetric fog and mist
Fog is visually prominent in the Labyrinth and can increase GPU work across a large portion of the screen. Reduce volumetric fog, mist or similarly named atmosphere options to Medium before making severe texture cuts. Compare a fog-heavy section, not an empty corridor, because the cost varies by scene.
Shadows
Shadow quality and distance affect both the number and resolution of shadow maps. If 1% lows remain weak after reducing lighting and volumetrics, lower shadows one step. Watch nearby characters and architectural edges for distracting flicker; if the visual change is unacceptable, restore shadows and reduce reflections instead.

Reflections
Reflections can be costly in wet, metallic or highly detailed areas. Reduce reflection quality or distance after lighting and fog. The gain may be scene-specific, so validate it in a room containing reflective surfaces rather than relying on an empty test area.
Textures and texture filtering
Textures primarily consume VRAM and can cause streaming problems when the card cannot hold the selected set. Keep them high while memory remains comfortable, because reducing textures often makes the image softer without solving a GPU-shader bottleneck. If you see delayed texture detail, pop-in or hitching when turning quickly, lower textures one step and retest.
Keep the image clear during movement
Disable motion blur when clarity matters
Motion blur can make rapid first-person turns appear smeared and can hide whether a frame-time improvement is real. Turn it off while tuning so image stability is easier to judge. Re-enable it later only if you prefer the cinematic effect; it does not substitute for a higher or steadier frame rate.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Check image stability, not only FPS
Inspect thin railings, chains, distant geometry and fog edges while moving. Aggressive upscaling can produce shimmer or ghost trails even when the counter is high. Prefer the highest-quality mode that meets your target, then reduce lighting or volumetrics for additional headroom.
Shader pre-compilation and traversal stutter
If the game offers a shader pre-compilation step, allow it to finish before evaluating stutter. Interrupting that process or judging performance during the first traversal can confuse compilation work with a permanent graphics-setting problem.
- Launch the game and wait for any shader-processing screen or progress indicator to complete.
- Reach the same test route used for your baseline and move through it once so commonly used effects can cache.
- Repeat the route. If the second pass is smoother, the first run was likely dominated by compilation or asset streaming.
- If stutter persists, lower volumetrics and reflections one step, confirm the game is installed on an SSD, and check whether system memory is near capacity.
- Use a frame-rate cap that your system can hold consistently rather than chasing a fluctuating peak. The appropriate cap depends on your monitor and measured lows.
Shader compilation cannot be solved by lowering textures alone. Conversely, a shader hitch will not necessarily disappear after a driver update, so retest after the game has rebuilt its shader cache.

Diagnose the bottleneck instead of lowering everything
Signs of a GPU limit
- GPU utilisation stays high while lowering resolution or enabling a stronger upscaler raises FPS.
- Reducing Lumen, volumetrics, shadows or reflections improves frame time.
- Frame rate falls sharply in fog-heavy or visually dense scenes.
For a GPU limit, use the upscaler first, then reduce lighting and atmospheric effects in the order above. Keep textures high if VRAM is not full.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSigns of a CPU or memory limit
- GPU utilisation is unexpectedly low while one or more CPU threads are busy.
- Lowering resolution produces little change.
- Stutter coincides with background applications, paging or crowded scenes.
Close unnecessary launchers and overlays, check that the game is using the intended high-performance GPU on a laptop, and leave enough system memory for Windows and background services. The minimum specification lists 8 GB RAM; 16 GB is the recommended tier and gives more room for the game, shader cache and other applications.
Signs of storage or streaming trouble
- Hitches occur when entering a new area or turning toward unseen geometry.
- Textures appear late even though average FPS is acceptable.
- The installation is on a nearly full or heavily loaded hard drive.
Move the installation to an SSD with free capacity and avoid filling the drive to its limit. An SSD improves asset access and is explicitly recommended in the Steam requirements, but it is not a guaranteed FPS upgrade.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Resolution, refresh rate and frame-rate targets
Choose the target from your display and measured lows. A 60 Hz monitor does not benefit from rendering a fluctuating 100 FPS if frame delivery is uneven; a high-refresh display may justify a higher cap only when the PC can sustain it. Compare average FPS, visible 1% lows and frame-time consistency in the same scene.
Neither Steam nor AMD publishes a per-setting performance table, target resolution or guaranteed frame rate for the game. Treat claims such as a universal percentage uplift as condition-specific unless they document the exact patch, hardware, resolution and test route. Your own repeatable baseline is more useful than an uncited number.

Storage planning: why a 1TB NVMe SSD is a practical fit
The game requires 80 GB of free space and recommends an SSD. An 80 GB installation should not be planned against an 80 GB drive: Windows updates, shader caches, saved data and future patches need working room. A 1TB NVMe SSD is a defensible capacity category when buying storage for this game because it leaves room for the operating system and other software as well as the installation.
Best Value
- SPEED UP PROJECTS. Launch creator applications fast with uncompromising PCIe 4.0 read speeds up to 7,100MB/s,[2] (1TB and 2TB[1] models) and write speeds up to 6,700MB/s[2] (1TB[1]-4TB[1] models).
- CREATE AND STORE MORE. Make more room for your 4K videos and high-resolution images with capacities from 500GB[1] up to 4TB[1] on M.2 2280 built with our trusted 8th generation SANDISK BiCS QLC 3D CBA NAND.
- IT GOES WHERE YOU GO. With an all-new power efficient design, your drive delivers high performance with low power, giving you more time to be productive while on the go.
- UNCOMPROMISED RELIABILITY. With up to 1,200 TBW[3] (4TB[1] model) endurance rating, your drive is designed for creators.
- KEEP YOUR DRIVE UPDATED. Monitor your SSD’s performance and check for updates with the downloadable SANDISK Dashboard application.[5]
Before buying, confirm that the desktop motherboard has the required M.2 slot and supported NVMe interface. On a laptop, check the manufacturer service manual, physical drive length and whether replacing or adding a drive affects the existing storage. Verify that the drive can be installed and that you have a backup before moving the game. Capacity alone does not guarantee higher FPS; the reason to choose the SSD is faster and more consistent asset access with adequate free space.
A repeatable tuning order
- Install the game on an SSD and keep substantially more than 80 GB free.
- Complete shader pre-compilation and one warm-up traversal.
- Record a baseline at your chosen output resolution and current preset.
- Enable the documented FSR option in Quality mode.
- Reduce Lumen or global illumination to Medium if the GPU is limiting performance.
- Reduce volumetric fog or mist to Medium, then test the Labyrinth route again.
- Keep textures as high as VRAM permits; lower shadows or reflections next if frame pacing is still poor.
- Disable motion blur while assessing clarity and movement.
- Change only one option per test and retain the profile that meets your sustainable target with acceptable image stability.
Common mistakes and their fixes
Assuming minimum means 1080p/60
Minimum hardware is a launch and compatibility floor. Start at 1080p with reduced effects and quality upscaling, then measure. Do not treat the requirement as a promise.
Dropping textures first
Textures affect VRAM more than shader cost. If the card has memory headroom, lowering them can damage image quality without fixing a GPU-bound scene. Reduce lighting, fog, shadows or reflections first.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Comparing different scenes
A clear corridor and a fog-filled Labyrinth chamber do not represent the same workload. Use one repeatable route and the same camera movement for every comparison.
Judging the first minute after a patch
Shader caches may rebuild after an update. Let compilation finish and repeat the route before changing several settings at once.
Enabling every upscaler mode blindly
Use the modes actually shown by the current build. FSR is documented by AMD; other options may not be present or may behave differently after a patch.
Final recommendation
For most PCs, begin at 1080p with FSR Quality, Medium Lumen or global illumination, Medium volumetric fog, high textures within VRAM limits, reduced shadows or reflections only when necessary, and motion blur off. Minimum-tier hardware should use a Low or Medium base preset; recommended-tier hardware can start at High and test 1440p after the baseline is stable. Complete shader pre-compilation, test in the same fog-heavy route, and tune one variable at a time. This approach protects image quality while exposing the setting that is actually limiting your frame time.
