There is no evidence here for one independently tested winner across Fractal, Lian Li, Corsair, NZXT and Montech. The best PC case is the one that fits your exact motherboard, graphics card, cooling setup and power supply—with enough space left to build comfortably. Start with compatibility, then choose a model whose layout and size suit your priorities.
What size PC case do I need?
Start with your motherboard, not a label such as “mid-tower” or “full-tower.” NZXT notes that those size terms are not standardized; the listed specifications are more useful. Its guide puts it plainly: “The PC case size you need depends on your motherboard form factor first, then on your graphics card length and cooling plan.” Read NZXT’s case-size guide.

Confirm the exact board format the case supports. If you have an E-ATX board, check its width as well as the format name: E-ATX dimensions can vary, and a case’s stated support may not cover every board sold under that label. Also check whether the case supports back-connect motherboard standards if your build uses one.

A compact case saves desk or floor space, but generally leaves less room to work and fewer cooling or expansion options. A larger case offers more room for fans, radiators and components. Choose the smallest case that fits the planned parts with some breathing room, rather than relying on the category name alone.

How do I check if my graphics card will fit?
Compare the graphics card maker’s published length with the case’s GPU clearance for your intended configuration. A headline maximum may change when you install front fans or a front radiator; check whether the case documentation specifies clearance with those parts installed.
- Length: Use the card manufacturer’s stated length and the case clearance for the planned fan and radiator arrangement.
- Thickness: Check how many slots the card occupies and whether neighboring slots or other components will obstruct it.
- Power cable: Allow room for the connector and cable bend so the side panel does not press against them.
For example, Lian Li’s catalog lists up to 375 mm GPU clearance for the LANCOOL 207. That is a specification for that model, not a figure that should be applied to other Lian Li cases. See Lian Li’s case catalog.

- Clean Lines or Turbo Cooled - The internal side panel near the motherboard tray can be used as a cable cover for clean cable management, or you can remove it and mount fans to the side for increased cooling potential
- 3D Y-Pattern Airflow Panel - Optimized for high airflow and minimal restriction, the steel front panel is perforated in three dimensions with a Y-pattern that provides a low-obstruction path for cool air
How do I check radiator and CPU cooler fit?
For an air cooler, compare its height with the case’s maximum CPU cooler height. For liquid cooling, check the supported radiator size at the precise mounting position—top, front or another location—and account for the combined thickness of radiator and fans. A case’s support for a particular radiator length does not by itself prove that every radiator-and-fan combination will clear the motherboard, memory or graphics card.
NZXT’s S5 RGB (2026) specifications list CPU cooler height up to 162 mm and top radiator support up to 360 mm. These figures are specific to that dated model specification; confirm the intended configuration and regional SKU before buying. Check the NZXT S5 RGB specifications.

How do the available brand options compare?
The evidence available supports a few model-specific specifications, not an apples-to-apples ranking of all five brands. The table separates what is established from what remains unspecified; a brand catalog or guide is not a substitute for a model’s compatibility sheet.
| Brand or model | What is established | What to verify for your build |
|---|---|---|
| Fractal Design | Its official catalog covers multiple case series. | Select an exact model and check its board, GPU, cooler, radiator, PSU and fan specifications. The available information does not establish a particular Fractal model as a 2026 winner. |
| Lian Li LANCOOL 207 | Catalog entry describes an M-ATX-sized case with ATX compatibility, included fans, top 360 mm radiator support and GPU clearance up to 375 mm. | Confirm clearance with your planned front components, plus the exact PSU, cooler and board dimensions. |
| Corsair | Corsair has an official 2026 case guide covering compatibility factors and case models. | Consult the exact model specification; the available information does not establish model-specific figures for this comparison. |
| NZXT S5 RGB (2026) | ATX dual-chamber case; supports ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX boards; GPU up to 415 mm; CPU cooler up to 162 mm; PSU up to 200 mm; top radiator up to 360 mm. | Distinguish S5 RGB from S5 RGB Deluxe, which have different included fan counts, and verify the full planned configuration. |
| Montech TG3 | Official material lists ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX and named back-connect board standards, plus preinstalled side-intake and rear-exhaust fans. | Check the exact product specification for component clearances and supported radiator positions and sizes. |

What else should I check before choosing?
Once the board, GPU and cooling plan fit, check the remaining constraints that can turn a nominally compatible case into an awkward build:

- Power supply: Confirm the PSU form factor and maximum supported length, including room for its cables.
- Storage and expansion: Check drive mounting options and available expansion slots against what you intend to install.
- Included fans and front I/O: Compare the exact variant’s fan count and the ports you need. A listed preinstalled fan arrangement does not establish that it will suit every cooling or noise preference.
- Working room: Consider access around the motherboard tray, cable routing space and the difficulty of installing a radiator or large GPU.
- Overall footprint: Compare the case’s dimensions with your desk, shelf or floor space, rather than choosing by tower label.
Which brand should you choose?
Choose by the exact model’s documented fit and layout, not by brand reputation or an unsupported “best” ranking. Fractal and Corsair offer catalogs or guides to explore, but the available evidence does not identify a specific model from either as a 2026 winner. Lian Li’s LANCOOL 207, NZXT’s S5 RGB and Montech’s TG3 have some model-specific details documented above; those details still need to be matched against your components and preferred layout.
Before ordering, verify the current specification for the exact regional SKU and variant. Manufacturer listings can change, and fan counts or clearances may differ between versions. No comparable independent five-brand testing is established here to rank temperatures, noise, price/value or build experience.
