For most home Diwali parties, the JBL PartyBox 110 is the closest match to the brief: JBL specifies two levels of deep, adjustable bass, a beat-synchronized light show and up to 12 hours of playtime. Choose Sony’s SRS-XV500 or SRS-XV800 instead if a 25-hour battery rating matters more; the XV800 is the better fit when guests will be spread across a larger room or an indoor-outdoor area. JBL’s larger PartyBox 310 is the high-output option, rated at 240 watts and 18 hours of battery life.

| JBL PartyBox 310 | 240 watts of sound | Dazzling lights | 18 hours | Readers prioritizing output and runtime over compactness |

Which speaker suits your Diwali gathering?
JBL PartyBox 110: the balanced home-party choice
The PartyBox 110 combines the features most people mean by a “party speaker”: adjustable low-end emphasis, lighting that follows the music and a rechargeable battery rated for up to 12 hours. That runtime is usually ample for an evening gathering, while the cabinet remains more practical for moving between rooms than a larger high-output model. JBL describes the speaker as suitable for home or outdoor use and highlights its two bass levels and JBL Original Pro Sound.
Sony SRS-XV500: choose endurance first
Sony rates the SRS-XV500 for up to 25 hours of battery life and includes quick charging. Its specification calls out clear, deep bass and built-in lighting. This is the sensible alternative when the music may run through a long celebration, when the speaker will be used before and after the main meal, or when its charging point is difficult to reach. The 25-hour figure is a rating, not a promise at every volume or lighting setting.
#1 Best Overall
- POWERFUL JBL ORIGINAL PRO SOUND: Whether you're at home or outdoors, the JBL PartyBox 110 makes your music amazing with two levels of deep, adjustable bass and 160W powerful JBL Signature Sound.
- 12 HOURS OF PLAYTIME AND PORTABLE DESIGN: Power the party all day or all night. With 12 hours of playtime and a built-in rechargeable battery, the beat will go on (and on)
- IPX4 SPLASHPROOF: Whether your guests are dancing on the beach or sipping drinks by the pool, the JBL PartyBox 110 is IPX4 splashproof so you never have to worry about the party getting too wet and wild.
- PARTYBOX APP: The JBL PartyBox app makes it easier than ever to control your music, update settings, and customize the colors and patterns of your light show for the perfect party vibe.
- PARTY LIGHTS: Every kind of music is better with a dynamic light show. Colors synched to the beat make you want to move your feet, while customizable strobes and patterns dazzle your eyes. It's a unique, immersive audiovisual experience that transforms any party into a work of art.
Sony SRS-XV800: spread sound around a bigger space
The SRS-XV800 is designed around coverage rather than a small-room footprint. Sony specifies omnidirectional sound, ambient lights, distortion-free lows, IPX4 water resistance and up to 25 hours of battery life. Omnidirectional output can be useful when guests are not gathered directly in front of the speaker, such as across a large living room, terrace or covered outdoor area. IPX4 indicates resistance to water splashes; it does not make the speaker waterproof or suitable for submersion.
JBL PartyBox 310: more output in a larger cabinet
JBL lists 240 watts of sound, dazzling lights and an 18-hour battery life for the PartyBox 310. It is the option for a host who values higher stated output and long cordless operation and is willing to handle a larger, less compact speaker. The 240-watt specification should not be treated as a direct loudness comparison with the other models because the manufacturers do not publish a common measurement method.

How to interpret battery-life claims
“Up to” runtimes are measured under the manufacturer’s test conditions. Actual endurance changes with listening volume, bass enhancement, light brightness or animation, music content, wireless features and battery age. Running heavy bass and bright lighting continuously generally uses more energy than moderate settings. For a predictable evening, fully charge the speaker before guests arrive and keep its charger accessible. If the party could run beyond the rating, plan a charging break rather than assuming the maximum figure will hold.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesChoosing bass and lights without overbuying
- Prioritize adjustable bass if guests expect dance music and you want to reduce low-end emphasis for quieter conversation or late-night listening; the PartyBox 110 explicitly offers two bass levels.
- Prioritize coverage if people will sit in several parts of the room. The XV800’s omnidirectional design addresses that layout more directly than a speaker intended mainly for listeners in front of it.
- Prioritize portability if you will carry the speaker between rooms or outside. Larger cabinets can provide more stated output, but they take more space and effort to move.
- Use lighting as an atmosphere feature, not a substitute for room lighting. Beat-synchronized effects and ambient lights can set a festive mood, while brightness and animation affect battery use.
Practical setup for a home Diwali party
- Charge the speaker fully and test Bluetooth pairing before guests arrive.
- Place it on a stable surface with clear airflow and away from edges where it could be knocked over.
- Start at moderate volume, then increase it only as the room fills; this preserves battery and reduces distortion.
- Choose a bass level that suits the room. Excessive low frequencies can sound boomy in corners or small rooms.
- Set the light pattern and brightness before the event, and reduce lighting if runtime becomes more important.
- If using an outdoor or semi-outdoor area, protect the speaker from rain and standing water, including models with a stated splash-resistance rating.
What the specifications do not tell you
The published pages provide no independent, apples-to-apples measurements for maximum loudness, bass extension or distortion across these four models. As a result, a specification table can show each brand’s stated features and runtime, but it cannot prove a universal “deepest bass” or “loudest speaker” winner. Room size, placement, music, volume and listener preference will affect the result.
