There is no verified universal best-parts build for every aircraft in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Bandai Namco’s guidance is to choose an aircraft and loadout around the sortie: different missions call for different setups, and upgrade parts can be combined to tailor a fighter to the job. Use the recommendations below as a decision method—not as a claim that a particular part is optimal for an aircraft without documented testing.
Why there is no reliable all-aircraft parts list yet
The official walkthrough explains the governing principle: “Different missions call for different loadouts, carefully adjust your strategy to carve a path towards victory.” It also advises players to “Consider the mission objective and your playstyle and pick the best aircraft for the job.” Bandai Namco does not publish a complete aircraft-by-aircraft parts ranking, verified slot counts, or tested combinations in the material available on its official walkthrough.

That means a list naming one supposedly best part for every jet would overstate what is established. A build can only be judged in context: the aircraft, its available slots, the special weapon, the sortie’s targets, the mode, and the player’s handling preference all matter. The official game overview identifies dogfights, ground support, and naval strikes as distinct contexts, but does not say which parts win those fights.
Choose the setup by the sortie’s job
Air-target and dogfight sorties
For a sortie focused on enemy aircraft, start with an aircraft and special weapon suited to air combat. Then use compatible parts to address the limitation you actually notice—such as the handling or weapon focus you want for that engagement. There is no official, verified part combination to name as the best dogfight build, so check the aircraft’s real slot options rather than assuming another fighter’s setup transfers.

Ground-support sorties
When the objective emphasizes ground targets, prioritize an aircraft and weapon setup that can perform that task. Choose parts around the aircraft’s role and the bottleneck you want to improve, while accounting for the targets and mission conditions. The publisher identifies ground support as a mission context, not a specific optimal build.
Naval strikes and mixed-target missions
For naval targets, or missions combining air, land, and sea threats, select a fighter that can handle the required target mix and equip it for the objective rather than maximizing one statistic in isolation. If the sortie includes more than one target type, weigh the trade-off between specializing and keeping the aircraft useful across the whole mission.

A practical pre-sortie decision process
- Identify the target mix. Decide whether the mission emphasizes air, ground, naval, or a combination of targets.
- Choose an available aircraft for that job. Follow the objective and your preferred playstyle, as the official walkthrough recommends.
- Check restrictions and compatibility. Confirm the sortie allows the aircraft and inspect its actual part slots. Do not assume every aircraft accepts the same parts.
- Fit parts to a specific need. Select compatible upgrades that address the aircraft’s role or your own stated weakness; consider what you give up when choosing a specialized setup.
- Keep the game mode in view. Campaign and online progression work differently, so evaluate setups in the mode where you intend to use them.
Campaign progression can shape your choices
Additional aircraft unlock with MRP earned in missions, according to Bandai Namco’s walkthrough. Tom’s Guide’s launch-window review also describes spending MRP on jets, weapons, and upgrades. Treat progression as part of the build decision: the strongest theoretical option is not useful for a sortie if you have not unlocked it or its upgrades.
Tom’s Guide also reports encountering mid-game carrier-only missions. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a complete list of aircraft restrictions, but it is a reason to retain access to carrier-capable options as you progress. Check the requirements of each sortie instead of assuming your preferred aircraft will always be eligible.

Online builds need separate evaluation
Bandai Namco Europe says online aircraft levels improve parameters and unlock aircraft-specific abilities. That adds a progression layer beyond the campaign’s mission loadout decisions; campaign part advice should not automatically be treated as an online ranking. Reassess a setup for the aircraft’s online level and unlocked abilities using the online overview.
How to judge a specific build recommendation
If you find a named aircraft-and-parts setup from a guide or community post, check whether it states enough detail to reproduce and evaluate it. A useful recommendation should identify:

- Game mode and mission, or the target mix it was built for.
- Aircraft, special weapon, and the parts actually equipped.
- Available part slots and any relevant aircraft-specific restrictions.
- Game version and date tested; include difficulty where it affects the comparison.
- The intended handling or weapon trade-off, not just a claim that the build is “best.”
Early aircraft-tree guides and community discussions can offer leads, but they are not an authoritative, exhaustive tested-parts table. Results can also become stale after patches or seasonal updates. The official game page says ACE PASS seasons are scheduled to update every two months; that schedule is not evidence that a particular part is stronger or that every update changes balance. Check current in-game information before relying on an older build.
