For a faster, steadier Palworld experience, begin at 1080p with a frame-rate cap your PC can hold consistently. If the GPU is the limit, reduce resolution or enable DLSS on a supported RTX card; then lower view distance, shadows, effects, post processing and anti-aliasing in that order. Keep textures high until you see VRAM pressure, texture pop-in or hitching. Disable motion blur and camera shake for a clearer image, and test VSync according to whether you value tear-free output or lower latency.
Start with a stable baseline
Palworld’s Steam support listing specifies 16 GB of RAM as the minimum and requires an SSD. It lists a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT class graphics card as the recommended tier. Those figures are starting requirements, not a promise of a particular frame rate: performance still depends on resolution, scene complexity, CPU speed, driver state, background software and the frame-rate cap you choose.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If your computer is below the 16 GB RAM or SSD baseline, graphics tweaks may not cure hitching. Paging data to a slow drive or running with too little memory can cause pauses even when the average frame rate looks acceptable. Establish the hardware baseline before spending time fine-tuning individual options.
- Memory: 16 GB RAM is the listed minimum. Systems close to that amount have less headroom for the game, the operating system and background applications.
- Storage: Install the game on an SSD, as required by the support listing.
- Graphics: The recommended listing is in the RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT class. Treat that as a reference tier, not a guaranteed result.
The settings order that usually gives the clearest gains
Change one option at a time and test in the same busy area. This makes it possible to tell whether a change improved average FPS, frame-time consistency or visible hitching rather than relying on a short, quiet scene.

- On-the-Go Convenience: With an integrated handle and lightweight design (2.8 lbs), our lap desk is portable for travel or moving around the house, offering flexibility in any space.
- Set a sensible resolution and cap. Start at 1920×1080 if your display and GPU can use it, then select a cap that your system can hold in ordinary play. A lower, stable cap feels better than a fluctuating one.
- Use upscaling when the GPU is saturated. On supported RTX hardware, DLSS 2 can accelerate Palworld. It is hardware-dependent, so verify the result on your own card and resolution instead of assuming a fixed gain.
- Lower view distance. This is the first major reduction for a CPU-limited system and can also reduce the amount of work the GPU performs in large scenes.
- Lower shadows. Shadow quality is a high-impact GPU control. Reduce it before sacrificing texture detail.
- Lower effects. Effects quality can be expensive during combat, weather and other visually busy moments.
- Lower post processing. This can improve GPU headroom after the larger scene and shadow controls have been adjusted.
- Lower anti-aliasing. Reduce it after the preceding options; the image may show more shimmering or jagged edges.
- Keep textures high until there is evidence of VRAM pressure. Texture quality often affects memory use more than raw shader workload. Reduce it when you see texture pop-in, hitching or other signs that the graphics card is running short of VRAM.
- Disable motion blur and camera shake if clarity is your priority. These options do not replace the main performance controls, but removing them makes movement and aiming easier to read.
- Test VSync. Use it when tearing is distracting; leave it off when the priority is minimizing latency and your display and frame-rate cap make tearing acceptable.
Match the adjustment to the bottleneck
The same setting does not solve every performance problem. Watch what happens after each change and use the symptom to choose the next control.
GPU-limited performance
If the graphics card is fully busy and lowering visual options raises FPS, concentrate on resolution or upscaling, shadows, effects, post processing and anti-aliasing. Resolution changes the number of pixels the GPU must shade, so it is often the quickest way to create headroom. DLSS is an additional option for supported RTX cards, but its result varies with the card, output resolution and scene.
CPU-limited performance
If the GPU has unused headroom while the frame rate remains low or uneven, reduce view distance and use a stable frame-rate cap. View distance controls how much of the world must be considered and drawn, making it the most relevant setting in the supplied sequence for a processor-bound system. Lowering shadows or anti-aliasing will not address a CPU limit by itself.
VRAM-limited performance
When the graphics card is short on VRAM, textures and resolution are the first places to look. Keep textures high while the image is stable; lower them only when you see texture pop-in, hitching or other memory-pressure symptoms. Reducing resolution can also lower the memory required for render targets.
RAM- or storage-limited stutter
Stutter that persists across visual-quality changes can indicate insufficient system memory or a storage bottleneck. Palworld’s listed baseline is 16 GB RAM and an SSD. If your system is below or near that baseline, a compatible memory or SSD upgrade is more appropriate than repeatedly lowering effects. Confirm the RAM’s DDR generation, form factor and the computer’s capacity limit before buying an upgrade.

What each graphics option changes
Resolution and upscaling
Resolution has a direct effect on the number of pixels rendered. Use 1080p as the initial reference point, then lower it if the GPU remains the limiting component. Upscaling renders internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs the output; DLSS 2 is available to RTX players according to NVIDIA, but only on supported hardware. Compare fine foliage, distant objects and motion in the same scene, because a setting that looks clean while standing still may show reconstruction artifacts while moving.
Recommended Free Tools
View distance
View distance affects how far the game maintains world detail. It is especially useful when the CPU is limiting performance, such as in a populated base or a scene with many objects. Reduce it in small steps and check whether distant objects disappear sooner than you are willing to accept.
Shadows
Shadows can consume substantial GPU time, particularly when many objects cast or receive them. Lower this setting after resolution or upscaling has been considered. The trade-off is a flatter or less detailed scene, while textures can remain sharp.
Effects
Effects quality matters most during combat and other scenes with particles, flashes or environmental activity. If your frame rate drops only during those moments, lowering effects is a targeted response. Test during an encounter rather than in an empty field.
Post processing
Post-processing controls the work applied after the main scene is rendered. Lower it after view distance, shadows and effects. The visual change may be less obvious than a resolution change, making it a useful incremental adjustment when you need a little more GPU headroom.

Anti-aliasing
Anti-aliasing smooths edges but can cost performance. Lower it after the larger-impact controls. Inspect fences, foliage and diagonal lines while moving; shimmering and jagged edges are the principal image-quality trade-off.
Textures
Textures determine the detail stored on surfaces and can increase VRAM use. They are not the first control to lower when the problem is simply GPU shading load. Preserve them until you observe memory-related symptoms, then reduce texture quality and retest the same area.
Motion blur and camera shake
Disable motion blur when you want a sharper image during movement. Disable camera shake when visual stability is more important than the intended impact effect. These changes improve clarity and comfort; they should not be presented as a substitute for reducing an actual bottleneck.
VSync
VSync synchronizes presentation with the display to reduce visible tearing, but it can add latency or constrain delivery when the frame rate cannot keep up. Test it with the cap you intend to use. Keep it enabled if tearing is the larger annoyance; turn it off if input response matters more and tearing is tolerable.

| Profile | Resolution and scaling | First settings to reduce | Texture approach | Hardware context | Frame-rate strategy | DLSS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Baseline 1080p | 1080p; native first | View distance, shadows, effects, post processing, then anti-aliasing | Keep high until VRAM pressure, pop-in or hitching appears | System meeting the 16 GB RAM and SSD baseline | Choose a cap the system can hold consistently | Use only when supported by the GPU |
| Recommended-class GPU | 1080p; compare native and an available upscaler | Lower only the controls that cause dips in busy scenes | Preserve higher texture detail while VRAM remains stable | GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT class, as listed by Steam support | Prioritize stable frame times over a peak number | Available on supported RTX hardware |

A repeatable tuning procedure
Randomly changing several sliders makes it difficult to identify the cause of a problem. Use the same route, base, battle or other busy scene for every comparison.
- Record the starting point. Note resolution, cap, VSync, upscaling state and every quality setting. Record average FPS, whether frame times feel consistent and when hitching occurs.
- Apply the 1080p baseline. Start at 1080p, select a cap your system can sustain and leave textures higher than the other quality controls.
- Identify the likely limit. If lowering resolution helps, the GPU is probably involved. If view distance and a lower cap help while resolution changes do little, investigate a CPU limit. If textures or resolution changes affect hitching, investigate VRAM.
- Change one setting. Follow the order of resolution or upscaling, view distance, shadows, effects, post processing and anti-aliasing. Make one change, then repeat the same scene.
- Check image quality. Look at distant objects, foliage, edges and surface detail while moving, not only while standing still.
- Keep the best trade-off. A setting that produces a slightly lower peak but steadier frame delivery is usually preferable to a visibly fluctuating result.
- Recheck after updates. Palworld’s PC defaults and graphics presentation can change with patches, so repeat the comparison after a significant update.
How to fix common stuttering patterns
Stutter everywhere, including simple areas
First verify the 16 GB RAM and SSD baseline. If the game is installed on slower storage or the computer is short on memory, visual reductions may have little effect. Close unnecessary background applications, then retest before making further quality compromises.

This pattern points toward CPU work and scene complexity. Reduce view distance and choose a cap that remains stable in the busiest area you regularly visit. Do not judge the result from an empty location.
Stutter during combat or visual effects
Lower effects first, then shadows and post processing if necessary. Recreate a combat situation when testing so the change is measured under the load that caused the problem.
Stutter accompanied by texture pop-in
Investigate VRAM pressure. Reduce texture quality and, if needed, resolution. Keep the other settings unchanged while testing so you can see whether memory pressure was the cause.

Image tears after lowering settings
Test VSync with the same frame-rate cap. Enable it if tear-free presentation matters more; disable it when lower latency is the priority and tearing is acceptable.

Open the graphics menu and confirm every option again. Steam announcements document a PC default FPS-cap change to 120 and changes to graphics presentation and draw distance in version 1.0-era updates. A patch can therefore alter the starting state or the way a scene behaves. Re-run the same busy-scene test rather than assuming an old configuration still applies.
Frame-rate caps and the 120 FPS default
Palworld’s PC default cap was changed to 120 in version 1.0-era updates. That default is a ceiling, not evidence that every system can sustain 120 FPS. Select a lower cap when your frame time is unstable at the default, and evaluate the cap in the areas where you actually play. The useful measurement is consistent delivery with acceptable image quality, not a peak counter observed in a quiet scene.
When comparing two configurations, keep the cap identical. Otherwise, the cap itself can hide or create apparent differences. Record average FPS, frame-time consistency and visible hitching together; no single number describes the complete experience.
What not to expect from a settings change
- There is no universal FPS gain for a particular slider. The result depends on hardware, resolution, scene and cap.
- DLSS is not a universal fix. It requires supported RTX hardware and can behave differently at different output resolutions.
- Lowering textures will not necessarily fix a CPU limit, and lowering anti-aliasing will not replace meeting the RAM and SSD baseline.
- A higher average FPS can still feel worse if frame-time spikes and hitching remain.
- Settings may need to be checked again after updates that alter defaults, draw distance or graphics presentation.
Recommended starting configuration
For a broad starting point, use 1080p, choose a cap below the level your system cannot hold, and keep textures high. If the GPU is the limit, test DLSS on a supported RTX card or lower resolution; next reduce view distance, shadows, effects, post processing and anti-aliasing in that order. If the CPU is the limit, prioritize view distance and a stable cap. If you see VRAM symptoms, lower textures and resolution. Turn off motion blur and camera shake when clarity is more important, and decide on VSync by weighing tearing against latency.
