Best Old Fujifilm Cameras: The Right Used X-Series Model for Every Kind of Photographer

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For most buyers, the best old Fujifilm camera is the Fujifilm X-T3. It combines excellent image quality, dependable autofocus, physical controls, interchangeable lenses and sensible used-market availability. Choose the X100F instead if you specifically want a fixed 35mm-equivalent lens and hybrid viewfinder; choose the X-T30 II for a smaller interchangeable-lens body; and choose the X-T4 when in-body stabilization (IBIS) and video matter most.

There is no universal winner. Decide first between a fixed lens and an interchangeable-lens system, then compare focal length, viewfinder, autofocus, stabilization, size and the actual used price. A discontinued camera is not automatically unsupported: Fujifilm’s compatibility listing still includes many older X-series bodies, including the X-Pro2, X-T3, X-T4, X-T20, X-T30 II, X-E3, X100F, X70 and X30 (Fujifilm compatibility listing).

Quick recommendations

Need Best choice Why
Best overall Fujifilm X-T3 Strong autofocus, controls, lens choice and hybrid capability without X-Pro or X100 premiums.
Best stabilized hybrid Fujifilm X-T4 IBIS, larger battery and a strong stills/video feature set.
Best small interchangeable-lens body Fujifilm X-T30 II Compact body with modern X-Trans 4 performance and the classic Fuji control layout.
Best budget Fuji experience Fujifilm X-T20 Affordable access to X-mount lenses and physical exposure dials.
Best rangefinder-style value Fujifilm X-Pro2 Hybrid viewfinder, durable construction and excellent stills handling.
Best fixed-lens compact Fujifilm X100F 24MP APS-C sensor, 35mm-equivalent f/2 lens and mature controls.
Best cheaper X100 Fujifilm X100T Classic Chrome and a refined interface when priced well below the X100F.
Best wide-angle compact Fujifilm X70 Pocketable 28mm-equivalent f/2.8 lens and tilting touchscreen.
Best zoom compact Fujifilm X30 Physical zoom ring and built-in EVF in a small body.

These are editorial recommendations based on capability, handling and current buying practicality—not claims that any one model is best for every photographer.

What counts as an old Fujifilm camera?

This guide covers discontinued digital Fujifilm X-series cameras released roughly from 2011 through 2021: fixed-lens X100, X70, X10, X20 and X30 compacts, plus interchangeable-lens X-T, X-Pro, X-E and X-H bodies. It does not cover Fujica film cameras, Instax, FinePix superzooms or GFX. “Old” means earlier-generation, not necessarily obsolete; check Fujifilm’s regional support and compatibility pages before assuming a body has no firmware or service relevance.

#1 Best Overall
FUJIFILM X-E5 Mirrorless Digital Camera XF23mmF2.8 Lens Kit - Silver
  • Get the stunning looks of the iconic FUJIFILM X100VI with the added creative flexibility of interchangeable lenses. A similar size and weight to the popular fixed lens X100VI, FUJIFILM X-E5 delivers the same analog controls and a film-camera-inspired user experience but gives you the option to switch lenses to suit your creative needs. X-E5 is compatible with over 40 X Mount optics and accessories, including the all-new XF23mmF2.8 R WR, so the perfect image is always within reach.
  • FUJIFILM X-E5 echoes the timeless style of rangefinder film cameras and features a stunning machined aluminum top-plate. Aesthetically beautiful, the top-plate exudes quality and durability thanks to its premium look and feel as well as delivering a precise, angular design. X-E5 offers analog controls for quick, easy access to core functions, while additional features such as the Bluetooth connectivity button - placed on the base like a film rewind button - enhance the camera’s nostalgic feel.
  • A first for X Series cameras, FUJIFILM X-E5 features a customizable Film Simulation dial. Neatly placed under the aluminum top-plate with a circular window providing an easy view of the active mode, the dial provides fast access to Fujifilm’s unique Film Simulation modes that deliver stunning results straight out of camera. Additionally, the dial has three customizable settings, which give users the option to create and save their own recipes for instant recall in the field.
  • Sometimes the best images are made when lighting is low and, thanks to the in-body image stabilization (IBIS) on FUJIFILM X-E5, you’ll be able to tackle these situations in complete confidence. Providing up to seven stops of benefit at the center of the frame and six stops at the edges, the IBIS system features a new algorithm and upgraded gyro sensor to deliver an improved performance that helps keep crucial images free from camera shake.
  • Image quality is assured with FUJIFILM X-E5 thanks to the latest 40.2-megapixel X-Trans 5 HR sensor and X-Processor 5 imaging engine. This combination brings additional functionality, including a lower base ISO of 125 and deep learning AI-powered subject detection AF across a broader range of subjects. The higher resolution also unlocks a two-step digital teleconverter feature, which crops into the sensor to provide a 1.4x or 2x zoom, giving further in camera flexibility.

The original X100, introduced in 2011, established the retro controls, fixed 23mm f/2 lens and hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder that define much of the modern Fujifilm appeal (DPReview X100 review; MPB X100-series guide).

Fixed lens or interchangeable lens?

Choose a fixed-lens camera when

  • You want a small camera that is always ready.
  • A 35mm-equivalent view (X100) or 28mm-equivalent view (X70) suits your work.
  • You prefer consistency and do not want to build a lens collection.

Choose an interchangeable-lens body when

  • You photograph wildlife, sports, portraits or landscapes requiring different focal lengths.
  • You already own Fujifilm X-mount lenses.
  • You need greater autofocus, video or expansion options.

The X100’s built-in 23mm lens is approximately 35mm equivalent and cannot zoom. The X70’s 18.5mm lens is approximately 28mm equivalent. If changing focal length is important, an X-T, X-E or X-Pro body is the better foundation (MPB).

Sensor generations in practical terms

  • X-Trans CMOS I/II: Can produce excellent stills, but autofocus, video, batteries and interfaces are dated. Buy for price or character rather than action.
  • X-Trans CMOS III: A strong still-photography sweet spot in the X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T20 and X100F.
  • X-Trans CMOS 4: Faster processing, better autofocus and stronger video in the X-T3, X-T4, X-Pro3, X-T30, X-T30 II and X100V.

Megapixels do not tell the whole story. The X100F has a 24.3MP X-Trans CMOS III sensor, while the original X100 has 12MP; both can make compelling photographs, but the newer camera is easier to use and more flexible for cropping (MPB; DPReview). Older Bayer-sensor Fuji bodies can also be worthwhile when inexpensive.

Best old Fujifilm cameras

Fujifilm X-T3: best overall

The X-T3 is the most balanced recommendation: interchangeable lenses, familiar shutter-speed and ISO dials, modern-generation autofocus and capable video in a body that remains manageable for travel, portraits, street work and general photography.

FUJIFILM X-M5 Mirrorless Digital Camera XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS PZ Lens Kit - Silver
  • 26.1 Megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 Sensor and X-Processor 5 Engine – Delivers high-resolution stills with Fujifilm’s X-Trans color filter array and advanced image processing for detailed image capture across a wide range of lighting conditions.
  • Advanced Autofocus with AI-Based Subject Detection – Features a hybrid autofocus system with phase- and contrast-detection points and deep-learning subject detection to identify and maintain focus on people, animals, and other subjects.
  • High-Resolution Video Recording Up to 6.2K – Supports internal 6.2K/30p 10-bit video recording, as well as 4K/60p and Full HD up to 240 fps, enabling flexible capture options for a variety of video applications.
  • 3.0″ Articulating Touchscreen LCD – Includes a fully articulated 3-inch touchscreen for easy framing from multiple angles and intuitive control over settings during stills and video shooting.
  • Built-In Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connectivity – Enables wireless image transfer and remote camera control from compatible devices, simplifying sharing and workflow
  • Buy it for: the broadest all-round capability and X-mount flexibility.
  • Weaknesses: no IBIS, smaller battery than the X-T4 and less compact than X-T30 or X-E bodies.
  • Alternative: choose an X-T4 if handheld video or low-light stabilization is essential.

Fujifilm X-T4: best older hybrid camera

The X-T4 adds sensor-shift IBIS and a larger battery, making it the better old Fuji for handheld video, low-light shooting and photographers who want one body for nearly everything.

  • Trade-offs: it is larger, heavier and generally more expensive than the X-T3; its fully articulating screen may be less appealing than a tilt screen for stills.
  • Best for: hybrid shooters, travel and stabilized handheld work.

Fujifilm X-Pro2: best rangefinder-style value

The X-Pro2 offers a hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder and interchangeable lenses. It is the rational X-Pro choice for street and documentary photographers who want the rangefinder experience without paying extra for the X-Pro3’s unusual screen design.

  • Limitations: no IBIS, older autofocus and video, and a fixed rear screen.
  • Buy it when: you will actually use the hybrid finder; otherwise an X-T3 or X-T30 II usually offers more practical value.

Fujifilm X-Pro3: best deliberate photography experience

Fujifilm built the X-Pro3 around a hybrid finder, titanium exterior components and a rear LCD hidden behind a small secondary display. Its autofocus is specified down to -6 EV, but that does not make it a modern sports body (Fujifilm X-Pro3).

  • Strengths: distinctive handling, durable construction and a finder-first shooting style.
  • Weaknesses: the hidden screen can be inconvenient, the body commands a premium, and used examples require careful hinge inspection.

Fujifilm X-T30 II: best compact interchangeable-lens option

The X-T30 II delivers X-Trans 4 image quality and autofocus in a small body with classic dials. Its compact grip and battery are less comfortable with large lenses, it lacks IBIS and has a single card slot, but it is an excellent beginner and travel body.

The higher resolution also unlocks a two-step digital teleconverter feature, which crops into the sensor to provide a 1.4x or 2x zoom, giving further in camera flexibility.

Fujifilm X-T20: best low-cost entry

The X-T20 provides the core Fuji experience and access to the entire X-mount system at a lower price. Its autofocus, video, battery and screen are older, so condition and included accessories matter greatly.

Fujifilm X100F: best older X100 for most buyers

The X100F combines a 24.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS III sensor, hybrid finder, focus joystick and a fixed 23mm f/2 lens (35mm-equivalent). It is a mature everyday, street and travel camera with Classic Chrome and a useful set of film simulations (MPB).

  • Missing: IBIS, a tilting screen and X100V-level weather resistance.
  • Price warning: MPB US inventory on August 18, 2026 showed approximately $939–$1,389. At the upper end, an X-T3 or newer body may be better value (MPB X100F listings).

Fujifilm X100T: best early X100 when cheap

The X100T retains the 23mm f/2 lens and 16.3MP sensor but adds Classic Chrome, a higher-resolution rear display, improved controls and electronic-rangefinder functionality (Fuji vs. Fuji comparison). Its autofocus, screen and lack of weather resistance are dated. MPB listings observed August 18, 2026 ranged roughly from $789 to $1,019, so it is only a value choice when substantially cheaper than an X100F.

Fujifilm X70: best 28mm-equivalent compact

The X70 uses a 16.3MP X-Trans CMOS II sensor and an 18.5mm f/2.8 lens (approximately 28mm equivalent), with a tilting touchscreen but no built-in finder. It weighs about 340g with battery and card and measures approximately 112.5 × 64.4 × 44.4mm (Fujifilm specifications).

Fujifilm X-T50 Mirrorless Digital Camera XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS PZ Lens Kit - Silver
  • Dedicated Film Simulation dial offering fast access to 20 Film Simulations (including REALA ACE mode)
  • 40.2-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor
  • Supports all X Series lenses and includes a 1.4x and 2x Digital Teleconverter
  • 6.2K/30P, 4K/60P, FHD/240P, 4:2:2 10-Bit Video
  • Native Frame.io Camera to Cloud integration with no accessory requirements
  • Choose it for: a genuinely small wide-angle camera.
  • Do not overpay: MPB’s August 18, 2026 snapshot was approximately $1,039–$1,229, enough to make an X-T30 II with a small prime more sensible for many buyers (MPB X70 listings).

Fujifilm X30: best old Fuji zoom compact

The X30 has a physical zoom ring, built-in electronic viewfinder and a ⅔-inch X-Trans CMOS II sensor. It is much smaller-sensor than the APS-C X100 and X70, so expect lower low-light performance and less latitude for large prints. MPB inventory on August 18, 2026 ranged from approximately $229 to $899, including a “spares and repairs” listing; that highest range reflects scarcity, not superior image quality (Fuji vs. Fuji; MPB X30 listings).

Fixed-lens comparison: X100, X70 and X30

Model Lens Sensor Finder Screen/zoom Best fit
X100F/T 23mm f/2, about 35mm equivalent APS-C Hybrid optical/electronic Fixed screen; no zoom Street, travel and everyday photography.
X70 18.5mm f/2.8, about 28mm equivalent APS-C No built-in finder Tilting touchscreen; no zoom Wide-angle, pocketable shooting.
X30 Built-in optical-range zoom ⅔-inch Electronic Physical zoom ring Casual travel and family photography.

X-T, X-Pro and X-E body styles

  • X-T: SLR-style grip and electronic finder; the most straightforward all-round system.
  • X-Pro: rangefinder-style body with a hybrid finder; choose it for the viewing experience.
  • X-E: smaller rangefinder-style bodies with electronic finders; an X-E3 with a compact lens is one of the more realistic small-system options.

A body is only part of the size equation. An X-T or X-Pro with a fast zoom is a jacket-bag camera, not a trouser-pocket camera; a pancake lens can change that assessment.

Autofocus, stabilization, viewfinders and weather resistance

Autofocus

For demanding moving subjects, favor the X-T3, X-T4, X-T30 II, X100V or X-Pro3. The X-T2, X-T20, X-Pro2 and X100F are adequate for ordinary street, travel and portrait work. Original X100, X100S, X-E1, X-E2 and X-T1 bodies are better bought for still subjects, character or low cost than for action.

IBIS

The X-T4 and X-H1 are the important older stabilized choices. X-T3, X-Pro2, X-T30 II, X100F and X70 have no sensor-shift IBIS. For context, the newer X100VI offers five-axis stabilization rated up to six stops (Fujifilm X100VI).

Best Value
FUJIFILM X100VI Black
  • Capture timeless moments effortlessly with the FUJIFILM X100VI camera. Featuring a classic dial-based design merged with cutting-edge imaging technology, it offers 1.5x more resolution and double the speed of its predecessor. With an internal 4-stop ND and digital teleconverters, it ensures precise exposure control and closer shots. Experience the charm of analog photography combined with modern functionality, guaranteeing unforgettable memories.
  • When the light is low, and the stakes are high X100VI ensures photos stay sharp and videos stable thanks to up to 6 stops in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system. Internal gyro sensors minimize the impact of camera shake for those critical moments by detecting movements and vibrations across five axes.
  • Stay versatile! In addition to 40.2MP stills, X100VI delivers professional quality video straight out of camera in resolutions up to 6.2K/30P and 4K/60P. On-the-go content creators can also use one of Fujifilm’s 20 built in unique Film Simulation modes, including the new REALA ACE, and take control with two F-Log options to maximize flexibility in post-production workflows.
  • Be ready for every creative moment with X100VI’s state-of-the-art autofocus (AF) system. By harnessing the power of its new X-Processor 5 image processing engine, the camera uses a state-of-the-art AF algorithm and deep learning AI technology to broaden the range of subjects it can recognize. This enables it to accurately track objects, even in low-light conditions when unpredictability can be the difference between getting the image or missing it.
  • Create, share and collaborate in an instant with X100VI’s native Frame.io Camera to Cloud technology. Wirelessly connect to an active internet connection, authenticate to Frame.io, and start uploading photos and videos at the moment of creation.

Viewfinders

X100 and X-Pro cameras use hybrid optical/electronic finders; X-T and X-E bodies use electronic finders; X70 has none built in (an accessory optical finder is possible); X30 has an electronic finder; X10 and X20 have optical-viewfinder/zoom-camera character.

Weather resistance

The X100V improved sealing over earlier X100 generations. Fujifilm describes the X-Pro3 as weather-resistant and gives it a magnesium frame with titanium exterior components (Fujifilm X-Pro3). Weather resistance is not waterproofing, and some bodies require a weather-sealed lens or accessory to complete protection.

Video choices

  1. X-T4: best older hybrid choice because of IBIS and larger battery.
  2. X-T3: excellent if you can stabilize externally.
  3. X-H1: strong ergonomics and IBIS, but heavier and older.
  4. X-Pro3 and X100F: primarily stills cameras.
  5. X70, X30, X10 and X20: casual-video options only.

Buy a newer body when you need current codecs, recording options, USB-C convenience or dependable subject-detection autofocus.

How to choose by budget and use

  • One compact 35mm-equivalent camera: X100F; choose X100T only when the discount is meaningful.
  • Small 28mm-equivalent camera: X70, but only at a price you can justify.
  • Compact zoom: X30, avoiding repair-only listings.
  • Small interchangeable-lens system: X-T20, X-T30 II or X-E3 with a pancake lens.
  • Best all-round body: X-T3.
  • IBIS and serious video: X-T4 or X-H1.
  • Hybrid rangefinder finder: X-Pro2.
  • Screen-minimal experience: X-Pro3.

Used Fujifilm buying checklist

Test before paying

  • Power-on behavior, battery compartment and battery health.
  • Sensor, lens glass and lens barrel for scratches, haze, fungus, dents or play.
  • Every dial, button, focus ring, aperture ring and shutter mode.
  • Single and continuous autofocus, flash and image stabilization where fitted.
  • EVF and LCD for dead pixels, flicker or discoloration.
  • Memory-card slot, USB port, hot shoe and wireless functions you actually need.
  • Confirm the correct battery and charger are included.

Model-specific checks

  • X100 series: leaf shutter, aperture ring, fixed-lens operation, optical finder and rear screen.
  • X70: tilting-screen hinge, lens barrel and availability of its accessory finder.
  • X30/X20/X10: zoom mechanism, viewfinder, battery door and lens barrel.
  • X-Pro3: hidden-screen hinge and rear display.
  • X-T bodies: dials, rubber grip, card door, ports and sealing surfaces.

Prefer a dealer with actual-item photographs, condition grades, a return window, warranty and a transparent accessory list. Keep “spares and repairs” listings for experienced repairers. Battery, charger, hood, filter adapter, memory card and case costs can materially change the real price.

When a newer camera is the better deal

Buy newer when you need reliable subject tracking, IBIS, modern video formats, USB-C, longer battery life, current service or a new-product warranty. Fujifilm’s current comparison catalog includes the X-T30 III, X-E5, X-M5, X100VI, X-T5 and X-S20 (Fujifilm camera comparison).

Used prices are especially distorted for scarce fixed-lens models. MPB’s US inventory snapshot from August 18, 2026 showed approximately $1,799–$2,049 for X100V, $939–$1,389 for X100F and $1,039–$1,229 for X70. These are retailer listings, not market averages; condition, finish, accessories, warranty and location change the price (X100V listings; X100F listings; X70 listings). An excellent camera can still be a bad purchase when scarcity makes it cost more than a more capable newer body.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Buy the X-T3 for the best overall balance, the X-T30 II for a smaller interchangeable-lens system, the X-T4 for IBIS and video, the X-Pro2 for a hybrid rangefinder experience, and the X100F for a fixed 35mm-equivalent compact. Treat the X100T, X70 and X30 as price-sensitive specialist choices: their appeal is real, but scarcity-driven used prices can erase their value.
