For a jewellery showroom promo with a mostly steady camera and deliberate product handling, start with 1080p at 30 fps, H.264, CBR at 5,000 Kbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, AAC stereo at 128 Kbps, and Rec. 709 SDR. Treat 5,000 Kbps as a starting target, not a guarantee: keep it only if your actual upload connection sustains it without dropped frames. If it does not, try 720p30 at 3,000 Kbps and check stream health again. YouTube’s recommendations are platform ingest guidance, not a test of any particular Indian ISP or showroom connection.
Recommended OBS profile for a jewellery showroom
This profile is a practical starting point derived from YouTube’s current H.264 encoder recommendations. It is not a tested universal OBS preset. YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 3 Mbps for 720p30; its guidance also recommends CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and Rec. 709 for SDR. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance was accessed October 3, 2026.

YouTube’s guidance lists up to 60 fps. For HDR it specifies H.265/HEVC and 10-bit, and notes that AV1 is not supported for HDR. SDR is the simpler choice for this setup unless you have deliberately built and checked an HDR workflow. See YouTube’s encoder settings.

Do not raise bitrate simply because polished jewellery has fine detail. Sparkle, facets, and engravings can benefit from image quality, but dropped frames or an unstable stream undermine a continuous presentation. YouTube advises choosing a quality that remains reliable on the available connection and recommends an upload speed test. OBS gives a rough starting rule of setting bitrate at 75% of total upload speed. Under that rule, a 5 Mbps video bitrate implies about 6.7 Mbps measured upload (5 ÷ 0.75), before allowing for other business or household traffic and ordinary variation. That arithmetic is not an ISP guarantee; test the actual route over time. YouTube encoder guidance and OBS connection troubleshooting provide these recommendations.

These are YouTube’s recommended H.264 figures, not independent performance tests. If stream health or OBS shows dropped frames, reduce bitrate or output resolution and test again instead of assuming an advertised broadband speed is available continuously.
Set up OBS and YouTube before the promo
- Confirm the channel can go live. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and confirm the channel is eligible to stream. Labels can change; use the current Live Control Room prompts to configure the event.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect the account or enter the stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in a scene, recording, screenshot, or public message. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before using it again.
- Set the video output. In OBS, use Settings → Video to set the canvas and output resolution to 1920×1080, with 30 fps. If testing shows the computer or connection cannot sustain the profile, use 1280×720 at 30 fps instead.
- Set the encoder. In Settings → Output, use Advanced output mode if necessary to expose encoder controls. Choose H.264, CBR, 5,000 Kbps, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Set the audio encoder to AAC stereo at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz if those controls are available. Encoder names and available fields vary by OBS version and hardware; use the equivalent controls your selected encoder exposes.
- Check colour and advanced encoder options. Use Rec. 709 SDR and progressive output. If exposed, use square pixels, two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC as in YouTube’s advanced recommendations. Do not force unsupported options if your encoder does not offer them.
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal. Test representative handling, movement, audio, scene changes, and overlays. Check the preview, stream health messages, the channel/watch page, and a mobile device. Confirm that OBS’s local recording file is growing if you are recording a backup. YouTube recommends rehearsing with similar audio and movement and monitoring the stream during the event. YouTube’s live streaming tips explain the checks.
Make jewellery legible on camera
- Use a neutral, consistent background and lighting so the product remains the visual focus.
- If your camera permits it, lock exposure and white balance after framing the products; automatic shifts can make consecutive pieces appear to change brightness or colour.
- Test polished and matte pieces at the actual shooting distance. Move each piece slowly enough for facets, engravings, and colour to remain legible.
- If exact colour representation matters commercially, validate the camera, lighting, and display workflow separately. YouTube and OBS’s encoder guidance does not specify a jewellery camera, lens, light, colour-rendering index, or focus distance.
These are practical production suggestions, not platform-prescribed camera settings. Judge the picture using the actual camera, products, lighting, and viewing conditions planned for the promo.

Plan continuous broadcasts, archives, and viewer rewind
A continuous-looking promo does not mean a single YouTube broadcast will reliably produce an archive for unlimited time. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a replay matters, schedule sessions shorter than 12 hours and keep a local OBS recording as a backup. YouTube’s archive guidance was accessed October 3, 2026.

For an archive, also verify that the local recording is actually growing during the event; YouTube’s live tips recommend checking the local archive file as well as monitoring audio, video, preview, and stream health. YouTube’s live streaming tips.
Troubleshoot instability before the event
- Dropped frames or unstable stream: OBS identifies dropped frames as a sign that the connection is unstable or cannot sustain the bitrate. Lower the bitrate based on stable upload capacity, or lower resolution, then rehearse again while watching OBS and YouTube stream health.
- Wi-Fi fluctuations: Use wired Ethernet if practical. OBS recommends a wired connection for streaming; a cable is setup support, not a guarantee that the internet route or service will be stable.
- Choppy video or encoder overload: Reduce output resolution or frame rate, or select an encoder the computer can sustain. Test using the actual showroom scene; there is no universal CPU or GPU threshold established for this workload.
- Local archive not growing: Check that OBS recording is active and that the selected recording destination has available space. Confirm file growth during rehearsal rather than assuming the stream archive will be sufficient.
- Need replay or DVR: Keep scheduled sessions below 12 hours if automatic archiving matters, and test rewind behaviour if viewers need to revisit earlier demonstrations.
- Connection trouble persists: OBS notes that VPNs, security software, and network hardware can contribute to problems. Check those factors one at a time during a test, rather than changing several settings during a public broadcast.

Copyright and live-content checks
Use only product footage, music, graphics, and other material you have the rights to stream. A test rehearsal should use the same audio and overlays planned for the public promo, so you can catch avoidable issues before launch. Platform ingest settings do not grant rights to music or other third-party material, and the sources cited here do not establish a jewellery-specific copyright exception. Check YouTube’s current channel and live-stream requirements in YouTube Studio before scheduling the public event.
