For a mostly static music visual, start with OBS at 1080p, 30 fps, H.264, CBR, a 5 Mbps video bitrate, a two-second keyframe interval and AAC stereo audio at 128 Kbps. Send the stream over RTMPS. These are YouTube’s recommended 1080p30 H.264 ingestion settings, not a special OBS preset; use them only if your sustained upload speed can support them with headroom.
Recommended OBS settings for a mostly static music stream
Use this as a starting profile for an Indian music livestream with a static image, album art or slowly changing visuals. YouTube’s encoder recommendations checked in 2026 list 5 Mbps as the recommended H.264 video bitrate for 1080p30.
| Setting | Starting value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Video resolution and frame rate | 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps | 30 fps is sufficient for static artwork and avoids spending bandwidth on frames the visuals do not need. |
| Encoder | H.264 | Matches the H.264 values in YouTube’s live encoder guidance. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube recommends constant bitrate for live streaming. |
| Video bitrate | 5,000 Kbps | YouTube’s recommended H.264 value for 1080p30; its stated range is 5 Mbps minimum to 14 Mbps recommended maximum. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Audio codec and bitrate | AAC stereo, 128 Kbps | YouTube recommends AAC or MP3 and 128 Kbps for stereo audio. |
| Audio sample rate | 44.1 kHz | YouTube’s stated recommendation for stereo audio. |
| Color for SDR | Rec. 709, 8-bit | YouTube’s recommendation for standard dynamic range video. |
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS | YouTube recommends RTMPS for sending the live feed. |
In OBS, these are values to set in the stream’s output, video and audio controls; YouTube’s guidance establishes the target encoding values, not a single version-specific OBS layout. Menu labels can vary between OBS releases and platforms, so verify each value rather than relying on a named preset.
Choose bitrate and resolution for your actual upload
A nominal internet plan speed or a download-speed result does not tell you how much upload capacity is available throughout a long broadcast. Measure upload at the computer and network you will use, at a time representative of normal household or workplace use. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate and warns that other users and devices sharing the connection can reduce available upload bandwidth.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- If the 1080p30 target is stable with headroom, begin at 5 Mbps and test the real stream.
- If it is not stable, lower the output resolution and choose the corresponding YouTube bitrate guidance rather than setting a bitrate your connection cannot sustain.
- YouTube lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for 720p30 H.264. The right choice is the highest setting that remains stable in representative testing, not the largest number your connection briefly reaches.
- For a mostly static image, 60 fps is unnecessary. YouTube’s 1080p60 H.264 recommendation is 10 Mbps, but the extra frame rate generally does not help artwork-led music streams.
For example, a 5 Mbps video stream plus 128 Kbps audio is already over 5 Mbps before protocol overhead. Apply YouTube’s 20% headroom guidance to the total streaming bitrate, and leave additional margin if the connection is shared or fluctuates.
Set YouTube Live and OBS up for the broadcast
- Prepare the YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or select the stream and obtain its stream key. Keep the key private: anyone with it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and connect your account or use the stream key option. If using a key, paste the key from the matching Live Control Room stream. Do not publish it or include it in a recording or screenshot.
- Set the encoder values. In Settings → Output, configure the streaming encoder for H.264, CBR, 5,000 Kbps and a 2-second keyframe interval. Set the output to 1080p30 in Settings → Video, and configure stereo AAC audio at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz in the audio/output controls. For SDR, use Rec. 709 and 8-bit color where those controls are available.
- Add the playback source. Use a Media Source for a single local audio or video file, or a VLC Video source for a playlist. Ensure the source audio reaches the OBS mix and check levels before going live.
- Test the actual content. Start a private or unlisted test with representative music and movement, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health messages. Confirm audio is clear and the bitrate is stable before scheduling or starting the public broadcast.
Loop a track or playlist in OBS
Repeat one local file with Media Source
OBS Media Source can play local audio and video files on Windows, macOS and Linux. Add the source, select the file and enable Loop so playback begins again after the file ends. The source also offers Restart playback when source becomes active, which restarts that source when it becomes active; it is not a computer or internet recovery feature.

Play a playlist with VLC Video
For multiple files, add a VLC Video source, select the playlist items and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed; if OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC. Confirm the playlist order, transitions and audio levels in a test before using it for a long broadcast.
Plan reliability, recovery and archives
Looping only repeats media. OBS still depends on the computer, power, storage and internet connection staying available. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement like the intended stream, watching the Live Control Room’s preview and health messages, and testing backup-encoder failover by stopping the primary encoder. If you record locally, check that the archive file is growing during the broadcast.

YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. If preserving the full broadcast matters, keep a local recording and consider dividing the schedule into shorter sessions; confirm the current behavior in your channel’s Live Control Room.
Copyright and music rights for Indian music streams
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. It may replace the stream with a placeholder warning and may temporarily interrupt or terminate a stream if the matched content remains. YouTube says that even licensed music may require the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; having a license alone may not prevent an interruption.

Before using a song, confirm that your permissions cover livestreaming on YouTube, the intended territories and any archive or replay. YouTube’s live terms place responsibility on providers to have the necessary rights, including music rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Rights for a recording, composition, performance or distribution are not automatically interchangeable. Keep written permissions and follow the rights owner’s allowlisting process where required. A track being available online, or having been used without a visible claim elsewhere, is not proof that you may rebroadcast it.
YouTube’s Copyright issues with live streams explains the platform’s live-content scanning, while its Terms of Service set out provider responsibilities. There is no universal Indian music licence established here; confirm the scope with the relevant rights holders for the particular tracks and uses.

Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or change |
|---|---|---|
| Stream health reports instability or dropped frames | Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, often because the network is shared. | Measure upload under normal load, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, reduce resolution/bitrate if needed, then repeat a representative test. |
| Audio is missing or too quiet | The file/source is not reaching the OBS audio mix, or its level is not set appropriately. | Check the source’s audio routing and OBS meters, then listen to a private or unlisted test in the Live Control Room. |
| A single file stops after one play | Loop is disabled on the Media Source. | Open the source properties and enable Loop; test that playback restarts at the end. |
| A playlist ends instead of repeating | Loop Playlist is not enabled, or VLC is missing or incompatible. | Enable Loop Playlist, verify VLC is installed, and match VLC’s 64-bit architecture to 64-bit OBS when applicable. |
| YouTube interrupts a music stream | A third-party match has been detected, or the channel is not allowlisted for licensed music. | Review the Live Control Room notice; verify the relevant livestream and archive rights, and ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting. |
| A long broadcast has no complete replay | The session exceeded YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold or DVR limitations apply. | Retain a local recording, use shorter sessions if a platform archive is essential, and confirm the channel’s current Live Control Room behavior. |
