For the most responsive Hot Wheels Infinite Rush setup, put your television or monitor in Game Mode, enable Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM) when supported, leave TV resolution on Automatic initially, and use 120 Hz output only after confirming that your display remains stable. Turn on HDR when the display produces an accurate, responsive Game-mode image; otherwise, SDR is the better choice. Before changing steering or drift controls, calibrate the sticks and run Nintendo Switch 2’s input test.
These recommendations use the system controls Nintendo documents for Switch 2. Nintendo and Milestone have not published an official Infinite Rush frame-rate target, steering-sensitivity value, dead-zone value, drift-assist setting, camera preset, or HDR calibration number. Any fine-tuning beyond the system controls should therefore be treated as personal preference rather than an official best setting.

What Infinite Rush supports on Switch 2
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is a native Nintendo Switch 2 release from Milestone, launched on September 10, 2026. The Nintendo listing specifies TV, tabletop, and handheld play, a 12.7 GB download, HDR on compatible televisions, and more than 150 vehicles.
Local play supports one to four players on a single system. Online play supports two to twelve players and requires Nintendo Switch Online plus internet access. Those player counts describe the modes Nintendo lists; they do not imply that every mode uses the same split-screen or network performance characteristics.
Set up the television or monitor for low latency
1. Enable the display’s Game Mode
- Open the television or monitor’s picture settings.
- Select Game Mode, Low Latency Mode, or the equivalent setting.
- Disable extra processing such as motion interpolation, cinematic smoothing, noise reduction, and artificial sharpness if the display leaves those controls active in Game Mode.
- Save the setting for the HDMI input connected to Switch 2.
Game Mode matters because image processing adds delay between a button press and the displayed result. A brighter or more heavily processed preset can look impressive for video but is usually the wrong priority for racing controls.

Nintendo includes Auto Low-Latency Mode in Switch 2’s display options. With a compatible television or monitor, ALLM can request the display’s low-latency profile automatically. Leave the television’s own Game Mode enabled while testing: some displays accept ALLM but still require a separate input or picture-mode permission.
If the screen repeatedly changes picture modes, flashes when a race starts, or loses the signal after enabling ALLM, disable ALLM and select Game Mode manually. A stable manually selected low-latency mode is preferable to an unreliable automatic switch.

3. Check the cable and input path
Connect the console directly to the display while troubleshooting. Soundbars, receivers, capture devices, HDMI switches, and splitters can introduce handshake or refresh-rate problems. Once the direct connection works, add other equipment one piece at a time so a new failure has an identifiable cause.
Choose a resolution without assuming 4K is best
Switch 2 exposes Automatic, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p choices for TV resolution. Automatic is the correct first test because it lets the console negotiate a signal with the connected display.
Recommended Free Tools
When to try 1080p
Choose 1080p when Automatic produces an unstable handshake, when a 4K television applies unwanted scaling, or when a monitor behaves more consistently at that input mode. Lower output resolution can also simplify a setup that passes through older HDMI equipment. It does not, by itself, guarantee a higher game frame rate or lower controller latency.
When to try 1440p
Use 1440p if the monitor accepts it natively and its 1440p Game-mode path is cleaner than its 4K path. Compare the screen’s reported signal, image sharpness, and stability rather than choosing 1440p solely because it is numerically between 1080p and 2160p.
When 2160p makes sense
2160p is useful when the display handles that signal correctly, preserves Game Mode, and produces the image you prefer. There is no evidence in the official listing that selecting 2160p forces Infinite Rush to render internally at that resolution, so treat it as an output choice rather than a guaranteed graphics-quality mode.

Decide whether 120 Hz is worthwhile
Nintendo provides a 120 Hz output option, but the setting alone does not establish a 120-fps mode in Infinite Rush. The official game information does not publish a rendered frame-rate target, a performance-mode toggle, or a frame-rate comparison between resolutions.

- Enable 120 Hz in Switch 2’s display settings.
- Start a race and watch for flicker, blanking, repeated resynchronization, audio dropouts, or a picture mode changing away from Game Mode.
- Keep 120 Hz only if the signal remains stable and the control response or motion presentation feels better to you.
- Return to 60 Hz if the display is unstable. Stability is more valuable than a higher output-refresh number.
A display’s 120 Hz capability can also reduce its own scanout interval or improve compatibility with other content, but that is a property of the complete console-display chain, not proof that every game supplies 120 unique frames each second.
Configure HDR and black levels correctly
HDR output
The Nintendo listing confirms HDR support for Infinite Rush on compatible televisions. In Switch 2’s display settings, enable HDR output, then select the display’s HDR Game picture mode. Check bright sky effects, white track markings, dark areas, and the game’s user interface. If highlights clip, shadows lose detail, colors look gray, or the display adds delay in HDR, turn HDR off and use a correctly calibrated SDR Game mode.
Because no official Infinite Rush HDR calibration values are published, do not copy a numeric brightness or paper-white value from another game and call it a universal setting. Use the display’s own HDR controls and keep the mode that preserves detail while maintaining responsive controls.
RGB range
Switch 2 lets you choose Full or Limited RGB range. The television or monitor must use the same range. A mismatch can make blacks appear gray and flat or crush shadow detail into solid black.

- Check the display’s HDMI black-level or RGB-range label.
- Set Switch 2 to the matching Full or Limited value.
- Display a scene containing both near-black shadows and bright highlights.
- Change the range only when the mismatch is visible; do not switch ranges as a generic image-quality tweak.
Reduce steering delay and correct controller problems
Calibrate before remapping
- Open Nintendo Switch 2 System Settings.
- Go to Controllers and Accessories.
- Choose the option for stick calibration and follow the on-screen prompts for each analog stick.
- Return to the controller menu and run Test Input Devices or the equivalent input-test command.
- Move each stick slowly through its full range, release it, and verify that the displayed position returns to center.
Calibration is the most defensible first response to a car that steers without input, refuses to hold a line, or changes direction when the stick is released. If the test still shows movement at rest, try another controller or inspect the hardware; repeatedly changing in-game steering preferences will not repair a drifting stick.
Update and reconnect the controller
Use the controller-update option in the same Nintendo settings area before diagnosing a game. Disconnect unnecessary paired controllers, reconnect the one used for racing, and repeat the input test. A clean test with a second controller helps separate a game preference from a hardware fault.
Choose vibration deliberately
Vibration can make braking, collisions, and surface changes easier to feel without watching the screen. Keep it enabled if that feedback helps. Turn it off if the motor distracts you, makes the controller noisy, or you are prioritizing battery endurance. Vibration does not change the game’s steering sensitivity.
Use remapping for access, not as a latency trick
Switch 2 supports button remapping. Move accelerate, brake, look-back, or drift-related commands only when the default layout conflicts with your hand position, an accessibility need, or a preferred finger assignment. Remapping cannot compensate for a delayed display or a drifting stick, so solve those problems first.
Steering and drifting: what you can and cannot tune
No authoritative Infinite Rush page in the available material specifies steering sensitivity, analog dead zones, drift-assist strength, motion-steering behavior, camera settings, or a recommended controller layout. That means there is no evidence-based numeric preset to present as the best one.

A safe personal-tuning method
- Begin with the game’s default control values after calibration.
- Run several laps on the same track so you are comparing a repeatable situation.
- Change one setting by one small increment, if the game exposes that control.
- Test straight-line stability, a medium turn, and a drift entry separately.
- Keep the change only if it solves a specific problem without creating a new one.
For steering that feels twitchy, first verify that the stick centers correctly and that the display is in Game Mode. If the game offers a dead-zone control, a small increase may reduce accidental movement; if it feels unresponsive, a smaller dead zone may help. Those are general control principles, not published Infinite Rush recommendations, and the game may not expose either option.
For drifting, prioritize a repeatable trigger or button assignment and a controller that reports cleanly at center. Do not infer that a different camera, vibration setting, or 120 Hz output changes the underlying drift physics.
Handheld and tabletop setup
Infinite Rush supports handheld and tabletop modes. In handheld mode, the built-in screen determines resolution and refresh behavior, so the TV-only resolution, HDR, RGB, and ALLM choices do not apply in the same way.
- Keep the system’s built-in display at its normal operating settings unless a specific accessibility adjustment is needed.
- Calibrate the attached Joy-Con or compatible controller and verify the sticks with input testing.
- Use vibration according to comfort and battery preference.
- For tabletop play, place the screen where reflections do not force you to increase brightness excessively.
Nintendo documents Handheld Mode Boost for Nintendo Switch software, describing it as making undocked software run as if it were in TV mode. Infinite Rush is listed as Nintendo Switch 2 software, so Handheld Mode Boost should not be presented as an Infinite Rush performance fix or as a guaranteed way to raise its frame rate.
Online and local multiplayer considerations
For local split-screen, Nintendo lists support for up to four players on one system. Connect and test every controller before launching the event so a late pairing or calibration problem does not interrupt the session.
Online play supports two to twelve players. Nintendo requires Nintendo Switch Online and internet access for online play. If races feel delayed online, distinguish network timing from local input lag: test a solo race on the same display first, then check whether the issue appears only after joining an online session. Display settings cannot eliminate latency caused by an internet connection or remote players.
Quick Recap
Troubleshoot common symptoms
| Symptom | Likely checks | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Controls feel delayed in every mode | Display picture processing, ALLM, HDMI path | Use Game Mode, test a direct HDMI connection, and bypass switches or receivers. |
| Steering moves when the stick is released | Stick center and controller firmware | Calibrate, run input testing, update the controller, and test another pad. |
| Screen flickers after enabling 120 Hz | Resolution and HDMI compatibility | Try Automatic or 1080p, test another input or cable, or return to 60 Hz. |
| HDR image looks gray or too dark | HDR picture mode and RGB range | Select HDR Game mode, match Full/Limited range, and disable HDR if the display still looks wrong. |
| Black detail disappears | RGB-range mismatch | Set the console and display to the same Full or Limited range. |
| Game Mode turns off by itself | ALLM behavior or display automation | Disable ALLM and select Game Mode manually if automatic switching is unreliable. |
| Online races feel inconsistent | Network conditions versus local display lag | Compare an offline race, then check the connection and online session rather than changing HDR or resolution. |
Final setup checklist
- Display is in Game Mode or an equivalent low-latency mode.
- ALLM is enabled only when the display handles it reliably.
- TV resolution starts at Automatic, with 1080p or 1440p tested only when needed.
- 120 Hz is used only with a stable compatible signal; it is not treated as proof of 120-fps rendering.
- HDR is kept only when HDR Game mode preserves detail and responsiveness.
- Console and display use matching Full or Limited RGB range.
- Controller firmware is current, sticks are calibrated, and inputs pass testing.
- Vibration and button remapping reflect your own comfort and accessibility needs.
- Handheld Mode Boost is not used as an assumed fix for this native Switch 2 title.
- Nintendo Switch Online and internet access are ready before online play.
