For a young beginner who loves PAW Patrol and wants to race, PAW Patrol: Grand Prix is the strongest starting point in this group: Nintendo describes an easy control option with auto-acceleration. For a gentler platforming alternative, Yoshi’s Crafted World offers Mellow mode. Both are Nintendo Switch games that Nintendo lists as supported on Switch 2—not native Switch 2 releases. These features make them reasonable beginner picks, but they cannot predict how easy any child will find a game.

- For PAW Patrol racing: PAW Patrol: Grand Prix has Nintendo-documented easy controls and auto-acceleration for little ones.
- For platforming with a gentler mode: Yoshi’s Crafted World includes Mellow mode and supports one or two local players.
- For PAW Patrol rescues: PAW Patrol: On a Roll! is built around rescue-focused puzzle-platform missions, while PAW Patrol World is a free-roaming 3D adventure with missions Nintendo describes as designed for preschool players.
- For a newer kart racer: Mario Kart World is made for Switch 2 and has races for up to 24 drivers. Nintendo documents an explicit auto-acceleration aid for Grand Prix; the cited product information does not establish the same feature for Mario Kart World.
These recommendations are based on the features Nintendo describes, not hands-on testing. A child’s interest, comfort with camera movement, and ability to use a controller can all affect the experience.

What each pick is like for a young player
PAW Patrol: Grand Prix — racing with a documented assist
This is the clearest fit when a child wants to race as PAW Patrol characters. Nintendo specifically describes easy controls and auto-acceleration for little ones, so the player does not have to manage acceleration in the usual way. That is a useful documented aid, not a guarantee that steering, turns, or racing will suit every beginner.
PAW Patrol: On a Roll! — rescue missions and platforming
This Switch game focuses on puzzle-platform rescue missions rather than racing. Nintendo lists 16 missions across eight locations and pup-specific abilities. Choose it when a child wants to help the pups through distinct objectives, not when they are asking for a kart racer.
Rank #2
- Ryder and all eight PAW Patrol pups, including Everest & Tracker
- 16 daring adventures set in eight Adventure Bay locations
- Special pup abilities that need to be used for each rescue
PAW Patrol World — a 3D adventure
Nintendo describes this as a free-roaming 3D adventure, with missions designed for preschool players and local co-op. Its more open 3D presentation differs from the more structured rescue-platforming of On a Roll!. Nintendo’s product page indicates in-game purchases, so caregivers concerned about spending should check the listing and parental settings.
Yoshi’s Crafted World — platforming with Mellow mode
If your child is open to a game outside the PAW Patrol franchise, Yoshi’s Crafted World is a useful comparison. Nintendo lists Mellow mode and local play for one or two players. Mellow mode gives families a setting to consider when choosing a platformer, but the product description alone cannot tell you how a particular child will respond to its movement or challenges.
Rank #3
- RACE WITH NEW FACES: Play with the Rescue Wheels crew, including Roxi, Boomer and Mayor Humdinger.
- MONSTER TRUCK MAYHEM: Bulldozer, Hovercraft, Jet. Which one will you choose to help you win the championship?
- STUNT TO THE FINISH LINE: Perform tricks mid-air to get a boost and unlock your Pup’s signature stunt.
- PUP POWER-UPS: Get ahead of the competition by collecting Pup Treats and objects.
- DRIFT INTO THE ACTION TOGETHER: Speed through arenas across Adventure Bay, the Jungle, Foggy Bottom, and beyond in multiplayer
Kirby Star Allies — local group play
Kirby Star Allies is an action-platforming option with local play for one to four players, according to Nintendo’s listing. It may be worth considering when playing together is a priority. Its ESRB descriptor is Cartoon Violence; that content note is separate from how demanding a game feels to play.
Mario Kart World — native Switch 2 racing
Unlike the PAW Patrol and Yoshi titles above, Mario Kart World is a Nintendo Switch 2 game. Nintendo’s coverage describes races for up to 24 drivers, making it a different proposition from a simpler-seeming recommendation based on Grand Prix’s specifically documented auto-acceleration. The cited rating is Everyone with Mild Fantasy Violence. A rating is content guidance, not a measure of controller difficulty.
Rank #4
- RACE WITH NEW FACES: Play with the Rescue Wheels crew, including Roxi, Boomer and Mayor Humdinger.
- MONSTER TRUCK MAYHEM: Bulldozer, Hovercraft, Jet. Which one will you choose to help you win the championship?
- PUP POWER-UPS: Get ahead of the competition by collecting Pup Treats and objects.
- DRIFT INTO THE ACTION TOGETHER: Speed through arenas across Adventure Bay, the Jungle, Foggy bottom, and beyond in multiplayer.
Check compatibility before buying
Nintendo’s general guidance says Nintendo Switch games can be played on Switch 2, but compatibility varies by title and Nintendo advises checking with the publisher for specific games. For the four games named below, Nintendo’s individual product pages show the status “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch.”

- Open the Nintendo product page for the exact game and confirm it says the title is supported on Switch 2.
- Check that the listing is for the intended game and platform. PAW Patrol: Grand Prix, On a Roll!, PAW Patrol World, Yoshi’s Crafted World, and Kirby Star Allies are Nintendo Switch games; support on Switch 2 does not make them native Switch 2 titles.
- Check the product format and current availability if you want a physical copy; stock and store details can change.

Use ratings for content, not skill level
ESRB ratings provide an age-category suggestion and content descriptors for elements families may want to consider. They do not predict whether a child can handle a controller, follow objectives, or enjoy a game. In this set, Mario Kart World is rated Everyone with Mild Fantasy Violence; Yoshi’s Crafted World has a Mild Cartoon Violence descriptor; and Kirby Star Allies is listed with Cartoon Violence. Those descriptors should be read as stated—not turned into a claim that a game has no violence. Nintendo explains the role of ratings on its ESRB organization overview.
