For exercise rather than party-style sports, consider Ring Fit Adventure. If you are open to another system, Nex Playground offers camera-controlled games. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is a Switch 2 title scheduled for October 22, 2026, so it is not yet playable as of October 7, 2026.
What makes a game similar to Nintendo Switch Sports?
Nintendo Switch Sports continues the Wii Sports idea of accessible, movement-led play. Released on April 29, 2022, it includes six sports: soccer, volleyball, bowling, tennis, badminton and Chambara, Nintendo’s swordplay sport. The alternatives below preserve different parts of that experience rather than duplicating the whole package.

Choose by platform first, then by what you want to keep: motion as the main control method, a particular sport, local or online play, or the general appeal of moving while you play. The control method matters too: options here use Joy-Con motion, a smartphone camera, or a separate console’s camera.

MotionPlay Sports: camera-controlled bowling and table tennis
MotionPlay Sports is the closest current Switch alternative if you want your body movement tracked by a camera rather than mapped from a Joy-Con. Nintendo describes the concept with the tagline “YOU ARE THE CONTROLLER. JUST MOVE.” Its free companion app uses a compatible smartphone camera to track movement and turn it into game controls. Nintendo says no wearable controller or additional accessory is required, but you do need a compatible smartphone and the app.
#1 Best Overall
- Step up and take control of how you leave your mark in the biggest, most immersive MLB The Show yet.

- Compete in the officially licensed Men’s NCAA College World Series as you rise from a promising high school talent to one of the all-time MLB greats – immortalized in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and maybe even a place on the first ballot.

- Play revamped Mini-Seasons campaigns as you level up your stars with an upgraded PXP system, customize their skills with Parallel Mods, and hit Parallel V faster through special challenges.
The game currently covers two sports: bowling and table tennis. Bowling offers solo play against AI or local two-player play; table tennis has AI difficulty settings. It is a focused option, not a broad multi-sport collection, and the camera-based setup makes it a different kind of motion play from Switch Sports.
Mario Tennis Aces: tennis with motion controls as an option
If tennis is the sport you most want, Mario Tennis Aces offers arcade-style tennis and both traditional controls and a motion-control mode. That flexibility is useful if you want to swing a controller sometimes but still have conventional input available. It is a tennis game, not a substitute for Switch Sports’ range of activities.
Rank #2
- Swing, kick, spike, and bowl your way to victory in 7 sports
- Play Golf, Soccer, Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton and Chambara (swordplay)
- Motion controls will get you moving and help turn your real-world actions into in-game movements
- Use the Leg Strap accessory to kick the ball in Soccer
- Play with friends and family locally or online—in some sports, you and a friend can even team up on the same system to take on other teams online
Exercise-oriented play
Ring Fit Adventure: a workout RPG, not a sports collection
Ring Fit Adventure is a better fit when the goal is active exercise rather than recreating a sports party game. The Switch RPG uses the Ring-Con as part of its workout play. Its movement focus may appeal to someone who likes getting off the sofa, but it is not a multi-sport alternative to Switch Sports.
Camera-controlled play on another system
Nex Playground: separate hardware with a camera-game library
Nex Playground is a separate camera-controlled system, not a Switch game. Its review lists Goal Keeper among the starter games and Tennis Smash among the broader catalog. Access to expanded games uses a Play Pass subscription, so check the current subscription terms and included titles before choosing it. This option makes sense only if you are willing to use different hardware.
Rank #3
- The ultimate game that brings together 30 different sports
- Challenge your family or friends and may the best player win
- Multiple game modes available: Quick match or Tournament / Team mode or Solo
- Explore a multitude of environments! Volcano / Desert / Snowy countries
- Unlock new costumes and choose to play with motion or buttons on NSW
Upcoming: Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for Switch 2
Nintendo has announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for Switch 2, with 12 motion-control sports, including bowling, basketball, boxing, table tennis and golf. Its listed release date is October 22, 2026, which is after October 7, 2026; treat it as forthcoming, not as a game you can currently play. Nintendo says online play requires both an internet connection and a Nintendo Switch Online membership. It is the most direct announced follow-up for readers seeking a larger motion-sports package, but it is a Switch 2 title rather than a game for the original Switch.
