Quick answer: which Metro package should you buy?
| What you want | Best fit | What it contains | Why choose it |
|---|---|---|---|
| The complete series for a first playthrough | Metro Saga Bundle | Metro 2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux and Metro Exodus Gold Edition | One purchase covers the trilogy and the bonus content attached to the Gold Edition of Exodus. |
| The next game after owning the first two | Metro Exodus Gold Edition | Metro Exodus plus The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story | It avoids rebuying the Redux games while giving you both named Exodus story expansions. |
| Only the opening part of the series | The two Redux games, purchased separately or through a suitable package | Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux | Choose this route when you want to begin with the first two games and decide on Exodus later. |
| Only the third core game | An Exodus edition on your platform | Metro Exodus; check whether the SKU is standard or Gold | Useful when you do not need the earlier games, but the edition label determines whether the expansions are included. |
The Xbox store and Deep Silver listing describe the complete package this way: “The Metro Saga Bundle includes all three games in the critically acclaimed Metro series – Metro 2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux and Metro Exodus Gold Edition (featuring all bonus DLC).” The PlayStation listing presents the same three-game bundle for that storefront.

The trilogy has three core entries in sequence. Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux are the remastered versions of the first two games. Metro Exodus is the third core game in the sequence and appears in the complete bundle as its Gold Edition.

Metro 2033 Redux
This is the correct starting point for a new player. The “Redux” label is important: it identifies the remastered edition of Metro 2033, rather than an unrelated side story or a separate sequel. If a store offers both an older original listing and the Redux listing, the Redux edition is the one used by the Metro Saga Bundle and the one to select for the recommended first-playthrough order.
Metro: Last Light Redux
Play this after Metro 2033 Redux. It is the remastered edition of the second game and is the middle entry in the trilogy sequence. Buying a Redux-labelled package keeps the first two games in the same remastered-edition family, which makes edition checking simpler when you are assembling the series one title at a time.
Metro Exodus
Exodus is the third core game. A standard Exodus listing and Exodus Gold Edition are not interchangeable for buying purposes: the Gold Edition is the version to look for when you want the two named story expansions as well as the base game.
What is in the Metro Saga Bundle?
The Metro Saga Bundle is the broadest official package identified for this series. Its contents are:
- Metro 2033 Redux
- Metro: Last Light Redux
- Metro Exodus Gold Edition
Because the third line is the Gold Edition rather than an unspecified copy of Exodus, the bundle also carries the bonus DLC associated with that edition. The Xbox store description explicitly calls out “all bonus DLC.” The two named Exodus expansions are The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story.

Who should buy it?
- New players: You get the recommended sequence without having to match three separate listings.
- Players replacing or consolidating a library: The bundle provides a single package containing both Redux games and the Gold Edition of Exodus.
- Players who specifically want both expansions: The bundle reaches the Gold Edition for the third game instead of stopping at a base-game listing.
When it is not the efficient choice
If your account already owns Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, the complete bundle may duplicate games you cannot usefully buy again on that storefront. In that situation, compare the cost and contents of Metro Exodus Gold Edition with any upgrade or add-on option shown by your store. Storefronts do not always present ownership, bundles and DLC in the same way, so read the purchase screen rather than assuming a bundle will subtract titles you own.
What does Metro Exodus Gold Edition include?
Metro Exodus Gold Edition combines the Exodus base game with the bonus DLC identified by the Xbox store listing. The named story expansions are:
Recommended Free Tools
The Two Colonels
The Two Colonels is one of the two named story expansions included with the Gold Edition. If a product page lists only Metro Exodus without the Gold designation or without an explicit DLC list, do not assume this expansion is attached. Look for the Gold Edition label or a contents panel that names the included add-ons.
Sam’s Story
Sam’s Story is the other named story expansion. The official Metro announcement calls it “The second Expansion for Metro Exodus” and identifies Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Stadia as its release platforms. That historical platform statement does not by itself guarantee that every current-generation edition, upgrade route or backward-compatible version includes it automatically; the live store page for your platform controls what you receive.
Why Gold is the focused Exodus purchase
Gold is the convenient choice when you want Exodus and both named story expansions in one edition. It is especially straightforward for someone who already owns the first two games. The practical check is simple: confirm that the item is titled Metro Exodus Gold Edition, then verify that the listing names the bonus DLC before payment.

Recommended play order, step by step
- Start with Metro 2033 Redux. Select the Redux edition, not an older original listing, when both appear in the store.
- Continue with Metro: Last Light Redux. This is the second entry and preserves the intended order of the first two remastered games.
- Move to Metro Exodus. It is the third core game. If you want the complete Exodus package, use Gold Edition.
- Add the expansions after choosing Gold. The two named expansions bundled with Gold are The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story. Follow the order and availability shown by your platform’s game menu or store.
This order answers the most common “what should I play first?” question without requiring a separate spin-off sequence: the trilogy bundle itself establishes the progression from the two Redux remasters to Exodus.

Bundle and edition comparison
| Package or route | Core games | Named Exodus DLC | Best for | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metro Saga Bundle | Metro 2033 Redux; Metro: Last Light Redux; Metro Exodus Gold Edition | Included through the Gold Edition; the named expansions are The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story | First-time buyers and anyone seeking the full trilogy | Platform, region, digital or physical SKU, and the current contents panel |
| Metro Exodus Gold Edition | Metro Exodus | Both named expansions | Owners of the first two games who want the complete third-game package | That the listing is Gold Edition rather than a base-game SKU |
| Metro 2033 Redux plus Metro: Last Light Redux | The first two remastered games | Not part of this two-game route | Players who want to begin with the opening pair and postpone Exodus | That each product is the Redux edition and that no duplicate ownership is being created |
| Metro Exodus standard listing | Metro Exodus | Not established by the standard label alone | Players who need only the core third game | Whether the page names either expansion; do not infer Gold contents from the word Exodus alone |
“Not established by the standard label alone” is deliberate: the reliable distinction in the available store wording is that Gold Edition features the bonus DLC. A page that does not identify itself as Gold should be checked item by item.
Platform buying guide
Xbox
The Xbox store description is the clearest quoted contents statement for the Metro Saga Bundle: it names all three games and says that Metro Exodus Gold Edition features all bonus DLC. On Xbox, confirm the platform generation shown on the product page, the edition name, and whether the purchase is digital, a code or a physical product. A Gold Edition label is more useful than a generic “Metro Exodus” heading because it tells you which package to inspect.
PlayStation
The PlayStation listing presents the same three-game Metro Saga Bundle. Before buying, check the exact console listing, region and delivery format. A package can share a title across generations while using a different SKU or upgrade path, so read the compatibility and entitlement text attached to the listing you are about to purchase.
PC
PC availability is storefront-specific. Confirm which launcher or store owns the license, whether the page is selling the complete bundle or an individual game, and whether the DLC appears as included rather than merely available for separate purchase. If you are comparing a physical PC product with a digital listing, compare the actual activation method and edition contents, not just the cover name.

Stadia and historical platform wording
The official announcement for Sam’s Story lists Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Stadia as release platforms. Stadia is a historical platform reference, not a promise of current purchasing access. For every platform, rely on the live storefront’s availability and entitlement information at the time you buy.
Current-generation editions, backward compatibility and upgrades
The available package descriptions establish the games and DLC, but they do not establish one universal current-generation upgrade policy. Console generations, backward compatibility, performance enhancements and entitlement transfers can differ by platform and by SKU.
Use this checklist when a store displays more than one console version:
- Read the platform name in the product title and the compatibility panel.
- Check whether the page promises a native current-generation edition, backward compatibility or only the original release.
- Look for a separately described upgrade entitlement; never infer one from ownership of an older disc or digital license.
- Confirm that the Gold Edition’s DLC is attached to the same account and platform you will use to play.
- For physical copies, verify the disc region and whether the included code has an expiration date or regional restriction.
These checks matter even when two listings use nearly identical cover art. The bundle name identifies the collection, while the storefront’s SKU determines what your account or console can download.
How to buy without choosing the wrong SKU
- Decide your coverage. Write down whether you need the first two Redux games, Exodus alone, or the complete trilogy with both expansions.
- Check existing ownership. Review your game library and DLC list on the same account and platform. This prevents paying for a second copy of either Redux game.
- Search the exact edition name. For a complete collection, search for “Metro Saga Bundle” with your platform qualifier. For the focused third-game purchase, use “Metro Exodus Gold Edition.”
- Open the contents panel. Confirm the three game names for the Saga Bundle, or confirm the base game plus both named expansions for Gold Edition.
- Verify platform and region. Match the listing to Xbox, PlayStation or PC, and check whether the product is digital, physical, a code or an account-bound entitlement.
- Read compatibility language. Look for current-generation support, backward compatibility and any upgrade terms presented by that storefront.
- Check the price at checkout. Sales, subscription access and bundle discounts change frequently. A displayed sale price may be temporary, while subscription access may not grant permanent ownership.
- Save the receipt and edition name. Keeping the exact SKU helps support staff resolve missing DLC or an incorrect platform purchase.
Price timing, subscriptions and physical copies
There is no stable price that applies across all regions and dates. Sales and subscription access change frequently, so compare the live store price when you are ready to buy rather than relying on an old deal or a price quoted on another page.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Digital sale versus subscription access
A sale can make the Metro Saga Bundle the best value for a new player, while an individual Gold Edition can be more efficient for an existing owner. Subscription access is a different type of entitlement: check whether the service grants access only while subscribed, whether DLC is included, and whether the specific edition shown in the catalog is Gold.
Physical versus digital
Physical stock, region and SKU must be verified before purchase. Two boxes can use similar names while containing different editions, platforms or code arrangements. Digital listings usually expose a contents panel immediately, but they still require an edition and compatibility check. If you are using the phrase “Metro Exodus Gold Edition” to find a physical copy or an Amazon listing, verify the seller’s platform, region, disc condition and included DLC entitlement before ordering.
Common buying mistakes and fixes
Buying the standard game when you wanted both expansions
Symptom: The receipt says Metro Exodus but does not mention Gold Edition or either expansion. Fix: Return to the store page and compare the edition contents. The package to seek is Metro Exodus Gold Edition, with The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story identified in the listing.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Buying the full bundle after already owning the first two games
Symptom: The Saga Bundle includes titles already in your library. Fix: Compare it with Metro Exodus Gold Edition and any platform-specific upgrade option. Do not assume the storefront will automatically reduce the bundle price for owned games.
Assuming a current-generation upgrade
Symptom: The product title does not state whether your console receives a native edition or backward-compatible version. Fix: Read the compatibility and entitlement sections for that exact SKU. The trilogy contents alone do not establish a universal upgrade policy.
Confusing the Redux editions with the originals
Symptom: Your cart contains an older Metro 2033 or Last Light listing instead of the remastered versions. Fix: Confirm that both titles include “Redux” in their names before checkout.
Expecting the DLC to appear immediately
Symptom: You purchased Gold but cannot see an expansion in the game menu. Fix: Check the platform’s manage-content or add-on screen, confirm that the purchase account matches the playing account, and verify that the store region and platform match the edition. If the store page never named the expansion, contact the seller or platform support with the receipt before buying another copy.
Decision framework: choose in under a minute
- Do you own neither of the first two games? Choose the Metro Saga Bundle if its current platform price and compatibility suit you.
- Do you own both Redux games? Choose Metro Exodus Gold Edition when you want the base game and both named expansions.
- Do you want only the first two games for now? Buy the two Redux editions, then reassess Exodus later.
- Do you want only Exodus and no stated need for expansions? Compare the standard and Gold listings, but read the DLC contents before deciding; a small sale difference can make Gold the more complete option.
- Are you unsure about platform support? Delay checkout until the live store page confirms your console or PC storefront, region and edition.
Final recommendation
For a new player, the Metro Saga Bundle is the simplest and most complete route: play Metro 2033 Redux, then Metro: Last Light Redux, then Metro Exodus. For someone who already owns the first two, Metro Exodus Gold Edition is the targeted purchase because it pairs Exodus with The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story. Whichever route you take, make the final decision from the current platform listing, edition contents, region and compatibility terms rather than from the bundle name alone.
