For a value-focused replacement, start by comparing the TP-Link Deco BE63 with the Wi-Fi 6E Deco XE75 family. In a small apartment, first check whether you need mesh at all; if you do, eero 6 and eero 7 are options. For larger homes or premium needs, compare multi-node Deco kits, NETGEAR Orbi, and ASUS ZenWiFi. Choose by floor plan, node placement, wired ports, devices, and controls—not a brand’s coverage estimate alone.

Choose by home and budget

These are starting points, not guarantees of coverage or speed in a particular home. Confirm the exact kit, node count, ports, current local price, and included features before buying.

Situation Options to compare What to weigh
Small home or apartment A conventional router; eero 6 or eero 7 if mesh is needed A traditional router may be enough for a small home. eero 6 is a tested, lower-cost Wi-Fi 6 choice; eero 7 is Wi-Fi 7 but dual-band and has no 6 GHz band.
Value-oriented whole-home upgrade TP-Link Deco BE63 WIRED and RTINGS both recommend it favorably. Check the pack size, port speeds, and current price.
Midrange Wi-Fi 6E TP-Link Deco XE75 or XE5300 A two-pack XE75 may suit a smaller space; the XE5300 is a three-pack XE75 variant. Check the exact model and Ethernet limits.
Large or multistory home NETGEAR Orbi 770 or a multi-node Deco kit Compare node count, placement, wired backhaul support, port rates, and what the specific kit includes.
Premium, multi-gig, or feature-focused setup ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 or BQ16 Pro; eero Pro 7 Compare bands and ports with your broadband plan and client devices, as well as app controls and subscription features.
Upper-midrange Wi-Fi 6E without a monthly feature fee ASUS ZenWiFi ET9 RTINGS says its described features are managed in the ASUS app and are not locked behind a monthly subscription. Compare its price with current Deco offers.

How to interpret the price and coverage figures

WIRED’s 2026 guide lists the Deco BE63 three-pack at a $470 MSRP with 7,600 square feet of suggested coverage, the Orbi 770 three-pack at a $700 MSRP with 8,000 square feet, the ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 two-pack at a $690 MSRP with 6,000 square feet, and the eero Pro 7 three-pack at an $800 MSRP with 6,000 square feet. These are guide-reported MSRP and coverage estimates, not guaranteed current retail prices or results in a specific home; prices are not established for every country. Treat the coverage numbers as a comparison reference, not a promise.

Decide whether you need mesh and how many nodes

Start with the rooms where Wi-Fi is weak, the number of floors, the building materials, and the path nodes can use to communicate. Square footage alone misses obstacles: thick walls, floors, and the distance between nodes can all change the result. A two-node kit is a sensible starting point for a smaller home; a larger or multistory layout may call for three, but the placement and link between nodes matter as much as the count.

TP-Link Deco X55 AX3000 WiFi 6 Mesh System, Deco X55(3-Pack) | Covers up to 6500 Sq.Ft. , Replaces Wireless Router and Extender, 3 Gigabit ports per unit, supports Ethernet Backhaul
  • Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Wi-Fi - Next-gen Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 whole home mesh system to eliminate weak Wi-Fi for good(2×2/HE160 2402 Mbps plus 2×2 574 Mbps)
  • Whole Home WiFi Coverage - Covers up to 6500 square feet with seamless high-performance Wi-Fi 6 and eliminate dead zones and buffering. Better than traditional WiFi booster and Range Extenders
  • Connect More Devices - Deco X55(3-pack) is strong enough to connect up to 150 devices with strong and reliable Wi-Fi
  • Our Cybersecurity Commitment - TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement
  • More Gigabit Ports - Each Deco X55 has 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports(6 in total for a 2-pack) and supports Wired Ethernet Backhaul for better speeds. Any of them can work as a Wi-Fi Router

TechRadar says a traditional router is generally sufficient in small homes and apartments, while mesh can help in large or multistory homes and where dead spots persist. RTINGS likewise recommends starting with size and layout, with two nodes as a smaller-home starting point and three potentially needed in larger homes. Neither is a universal node-count rule.

Placement matters more than the advertised area

Google says coverage depends on home size, construction, and neighborhood Wi-Fi congestion. Its guidance for Google Wifi and Nest Wifi suggests placing points roughly two to three rooms apart and elevating them where possible, rather than putting a point directly in the dead zone. Concrete or brick walls and multiple floors may require more careful positioning. Google’s recommendation of no more than five Google Wifi devices on one network is specific to Google Wifi; it is not a universal limit for other mesh brands. Google’s guide to how many Nest Wifi Pro, Nest Wifi, or Google Wifi devices are needed explains the factors and placement guidance.

Compare the systems that fit your needs

TP-Link Deco BE63: value-oriented Wi-Fi 7

Deco BE63 is a Wi-Fi 7 mesh system that both WIRED and RTINGS identify favorably in their 2026 coverage. It is a strong candidate to compare for a value-oriented whole-home upgrade, but confirm the precise pack and port configuration: those details affect both coverage planning and whether the system fits a multi-gig internet plan.

TP-Link Deco XE75 and XE5300: Wi-Fi 6E alternatives

The XE75 family offers Wi-Fi 6E tri-band models. RTINGS describes the XE5300 as a Costco three-pack variant of the XE75 and suggests a two-pack XE75 for smaller spaces. Because names, packs, and ports vary, compare the SKU rather than assuming every XE75-family kit is identical. Wi-Fi 6E adds a 6 GHz band; whether it helps depends on your devices and environment.

eero 6 and eero 7: simpler options for smaller homes

RTINGS describes eero 6 as a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 system with simple setup and fewer configuration options. Its assessment says it suits internet connections up to roughly 700 Mbps; that is RTINGS’ product assessment, not a guaranteed speed for every home. Some features are behind eero Plus. TechRadar describes eero 7 as dual-band Wi-Fi 7 without 6 GHz, with easy setup and suitability for small or medium homes; some features require a subscription. If you value straightforward app-guided setup, compare what each model includes without a plan as well as its price.

Orbi and premium ZenWiFi or eero kits

For larger homes or higher-end needs, WIRED’s 2026 comparison includes the Orbi 770, ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 and BQ16 Pro, and eero Pro 7 alongside Deco BE63. The listed kits differ in coverage estimates, ports, bands, node counts, and MSRP. Use those differences to narrow the shortlist, then compare the exact pack’s ports and supported features against your broadband service and wired devices.

ASUS ZenWiFi ET9: Wi-Fi 6E without the described subscription lock

RTINGS names the ZenWiFi ET9 as an upper-midrange Wi-Fi 6E option and says the ASUS app manages the system, with its described features not locked behind a monthly subscription. It also notes AiMesh expansion compatibility. Compare the price and exact model with available Deco offers, and verify that any added AiMesh device is suitable for the setup you want.

Check the details that affect the real cost and fit

  • Ports and broadband: Check WAN and LAN port speeds on each node. A one-gigabit port can constrain a multi-gig connection; also account for wired devices you plan to connect.
  • Wi-Fi generation and bands: Wi-Fi 6E adds 6 GHz, while Wi-Fi 7 features are useful only when the router, client device, and environment can use them. Compare dual-band and tri-band systems rather than choosing on the generation number alone.
  • Backhaul and layout: Nodes need a usable connection to one another. If your home has Ethernet wiring and the kit supports Ethernet backhaul, check the model’s ports and setup instructions; the available comparisons do not establish a universal performance gain.
  • Apps and controls: eero and Google emphasize app-guided use; ASUS and TP-Link have their own management apps and differing configuration depth. Decide how much control you want before treating ease of setup as the only factor.
  • Subscriptions: Check which security, parental-control, and other features are included and which require a recurring plan. Feature packaging can change.
  • Total cost: Compare the actual kit and the cost of any extra nodes, not just MSRP or an old sale price. Retail pricing and stock vary by location and time.

Plan around Google compatibility

Do not assume that a newer Google mesh device can join an older Google network. Google states that Nest Wifi Pro cannot be combined in a mesh with Nest Wifi routers or points or Google Wifi points. If you are replacing Google Wifi with another brand, plan to move to that system’s compatible nodes rather than counting on the existing Google units to extend it. Google’s Nest Wifi Pro compatibility guidance covers this limitation.

A practical way to make the choice

  1. Map weak areas and obstacles. Note the rooms and floors that need coverage, wall materials, and plausible node locations.
  2. Decide whether mesh is warranted. For a small home, compare the cost of a conventional router before buying a multi-node kit.
  3. Match pack size to layout. Compare two-node and three-node versions, and check the exact model number rather than relying on a family name.
  4. Match ports and bands to your devices. Confirm port rates against your internet plan and consider whether your devices can use 6 GHz or Wi-Fi 7 features.
  5. Check controls and recurring costs. Review the included app features, configuration options, and subscription requirements.
  6. Verify price and availability locally. Compare current prices for the complete kit and any additional nodes in your country.
