For the Season 10.5 build and its October 15, 2026 follow-up, the most reliable performance setup is to reduce texture and model-detail cost, use the lowest-resolution resource pack your image quality allows, enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode, and choose a hardware-supported upscaler. Treat frame generation as optional rather than automatically beneficial: NetEase warns that AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation can add occasional stutters on lower-thread CPUs when combined with shader compilation mode.
There is no new universal FPS preset or guaranteed frame-rate target in the October 15 notes. Use the baseline below, then judge success by frame-time consistency during team fights, not only by the number shown in a menu or empty practice area.

Which Marvel Rivals patch this guide covers
Season 10.5 began on October 9, 2026 at 09:00 UTC. Version 20261015 followed on October 15, 2026 at 09:00 UTC with fixes and optimizations. The later notes do not introduce a single graphics preset that works for every PC, so the practical approach is to configure the current build around your hardware and confirm the result in real matches.

Recommended performance-first settings
| Setting or action | Starting recommendation | What it changes | Trade-off or warning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resource pack | Use the low-resolution pack if storage or GPU memory is constrained | Reduces installation size and lowers texture-resource pressure | NetEase says visual fidelity may be reduced in some cases |
| Texture quality | Lower it first when the game runs slowly | Reduces texture memory and streaming work | Surfaces and character details look less sharp |
| Upscaler | Use the vendor option supported by your GPU; compare quality and stability | Renders internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs the image | Performance and clarity vary by mode and hardware |
| Switch Shader Compilation Mode | Enable it when the option is available | Compiles shaders on the first launch after a game version or driver update | It is experimental; the first post-update launch can still involve compilation |
| AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation | Leave it off while diagnosing stutter, then test it separately | Generates intermediate frames to increase displayed smoothness | Can introduce occasional additional stutters on lower-thread CPUs when combined with shader compilation mode |
| Anti-aliasing | Try the Off option if frame times remain unstable | Removes an anti-aliasing pass | More jagged edges and shimmer are possible |
| Model detail | Use Performance when you need another reduction | Lowers geometric and character-detail workload | Models can appear less detailed at distance |
These are starting points, not a promise of a particular FPS number. The official system requirements define a minimum and a recommended class of hardware, but they do not establish a universal frame-rate result for every map, fight, resolution, or driver.
Check your PC before changing graphics
Marvel Rivals lists the following Windows PC requirements. Meeting the minimum means the game can launch within the stated specification; it does not mean every high-cost setting will deliver consistent frame times. The recommended tier is a more useful reference for deciding whether image-quality compromises are likely to be small or substantial.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit, version 1909 or newer | Windows 10 64-bit, version 1909 or newer |

| API | DirectX 12 | DirectX 12 |
| Storage | 70 GB available | 70 GB available |
Install the game on an SSD. The Epic Games Store FAQ explicitly recommends an SSD for a better experience and repeats that advice when addressing long delays at 99% loading. An SSD cannot make a weak CPU or GPU faster, but it reduces storage latency during loading and asset access compared with a hard disk.
Set up the low-cost rendering path
1. Decide whether you need the high-resolution resource pack
If your drive is nearly full or your graphics card has limited memory, start without the High-Resolution Resource Pack so the game uses the low-resolution pack. NetEase describes the low-resolution pack as reducing the overall installation size to a certain extent, while warning that visual fidelity may be lower in some situations.
This choice is separate from the in-game texture-quality slider. The resource pack changes which texture assets are installed and available; the texture setting controls how aggressively those assets are used at runtime. If you have enough storage and memory, you can keep the high-resolution assets and still lower texture quality when performance is slow. If both storage and memory are tight, the low-resolution pack removes pressure before you tune individual sliders.
2. Lower texture quality before cutting every other option
The official FAQ specifically recommends reducing graphics settings such as texture quality when a PC meets the requirements but still performs slowly. Texture quality is therefore the first image-quality control to test. Lower it one step, load the same type of match, and watch whether traversal stutter and fight-time hitching improve.
Texture quality usually affects memory use more than raw geometric complexity. If lowering it improves consistency without a large visual penalty on your display, keep that change and leave more expensive geometry and effects available. If it has little effect, your bottleneck may be CPU-side work, shader compilation, or a different GPU effect rather than texture storage.

3. Select a supported upscaler
Use the upscaler exposed for your graphics hardware, then compare two things: image clarity and frame-time stability. The current notes add AMD FSR 4 support for Radeon RX 9000-series cards and document AMD FSR 3.1 behavior, including frame generation. That makes FSR 4 a relevant choice for a supported RX 9000-series GPU; older or different GPUs should use the vendor option the game actually exposes for that hardware.
Start with the quality-oriented mode at your monitor’s native output resolution. If the GPU remains saturated, move toward a performance-oriented mode. A more aggressive mode can raise rendering headroom but may soften thin lines, distant characters, and effects. Compare the same camera distance and a busy team fight rather than judging a still menu image.
Do not assume that an upscaler’s displayed FPS number equals a faster response. Reconstruction changes the internal render cost, while frame generation changes the number of displayed frames. Input response and frame-time pacing still depend on the original rendered frames and on your CPU and GPU headroom.
Shader compilation and frame generation
Why Switch Shader Compilation Mode is worth testing
NetEase describes Switch Shader Compilation Mode as experimental. When activated, shaders compile only the first time you launch the game after a new version or graphics-driver update. NetEase says the feature can significantly reduce memory use and minimize in-game stuttering, with particular value on systems using 16 GB of RAM or less.
Recommended Free Tools
Enable it when the option is present, then allow the game to complete its first-launch work after a patch or driver update. A restart may be required before the mode takes effect. Because it is experimental, compare a few normal matches rather than assuming that the first launch represents the final result.
When to avoid AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation
Frame generation is optional. NetEase warns that AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation can introduce occasional additional stutters on lower-thread CPUs when it is combined with Switch Shader Compilation Mode. If your processor is near the minimum class, or if hitching began after enabling both features, turn frame generation off first and test again with shader compilation mode unchanged.
On a system with enough CPU headroom, you can test frame generation after the base render is stable. Change only that option, replay a similar fight, and compare pacing and control response. If the generated output looks smoother but real-frame pacing becomes uneven, the setting is not a net improvement for competitive play. Keep it disabled until the underlying stutter is resolved rather than using generated frames to mask a CPU or shader problem.

Reduce expensive detail only as far as needed
Anti-aliasing
Version 20250110 added an Off anti-aliasing option. Use it as a deliberate performance test when texture reduction and upscaling are insufficient. Disabling anti-aliasing can reduce a rendering pass and improve frame-time headroom, but edges may shimmer or appear jagged, especially at lower internal resolutions.
Model detail
The same notes added a Performance model-detail option. Choose Performance when geometry or character detail is contributing to unstable frame times. This is a more targeted compromise than immediately lowering every visual setting: the scene can retain a reasonable texture level while distant or complex models use less detail.
Test model detail in a crowded fight, where many characters and effects are visible at once. A setting that looks fine in an empty corridor can still produce spikes when several abilities, destructible objects, and players enter view.
How to stop Marvel Rivals stuttering
Start with a clean graphics-driver installation
The Epic Games Store FAQ recommends a clean installation of the latest GPU driver for stutter. Use your GPU manufacturer’s installer, select its clean-install option when offered, restart Windows, and then launch the game. A driver update can also trigger shader recompilation, so the first launch afterward may not represent steady-state performance.
Force the Windows High performance GPU mode
For systems with more than one graphics adapter, set Marvel Rivals to Windows High performance:
- Open Windows Settings.
- Choose System, then Display.
- Open Graphics.
- Add or select the Marvel Rivals executable.
- Choose Options, select High performance, and save.
- Restart the game so Windows applies the selection.
This prevents Windows from choosing a lower-power adapter for the game. It does not increase the capability of the selected GPU, so continue with texture, upscaling, and detail adjustments if the hardware remains at its limit.
Install on an SSD when loading stalls at 99%
If loading repeatedly pauses near 99%, verify that the installation is on an SSD and that the drive has the required free space. The FAQ’s SSD recommendation addresses this type of storage bottleneck. Moving the game can improve asset delivery, but it will not replace the need for 16 GB of RAM or a graphics card that meets the listed requirement.

Check the in-game performance optimization entry
NetEase announced a PC in-game performance optimization intended to improve CPU rendering. It takes effect after downloading and restarting. When the entry is offered by your build, check Settings → Other, download it, and restart Marvel Rivals. The option may not appear for every installation at the same time, so do not treat its absence as a graphics-setting failure.

If you are near the minimum specification
- Use the low-resolution resource pack if storage or GPU memory is constrained.
- Lower texture quality before reducing every other setting.
- Use a supported upscaler in a performance-oriented mode only after testing a quality-oriented mode.
- Set model detail to Performance and test anti-aliasing Off if fights still produce spikes.
- Keep AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation off while diagnosing CPU or shader stutter.
- Enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode, remembering that it is experimental.
This tier is the least likely to sustain high settings during large fights. The published minimum specification is a compatibility floor, not a guarantee of a fixed FPS target.

If you are around the recommended specification
- Keep the high-resolution resource pack only if storage and memory pressure are acceptable.
- Start with medium or quality-oriented texture and upscaling choices, then lower texture quality if frame times dip.
- Use model detail Performance or anti-aliasing Off only when the fight-time test shows a real need.
- Enable shader compilation mode and test frame generation independently.
- Keep the game on an SSD and the Windows graphics assignment on High performance.
The recommended class—RTX 2060 Super, RX 5700-XT, or Arc A750 paired with the listed processors and 16 GB of RAM—gives you more room for image quality, but it still cannot guarantee identical performance across every resolution, driver, map, or team fight.
If the GPU is stronger but the CPU has fewer threads
A powerful graphics card does not eliminate CPU-side stutter. Lower-thread processors are specifically relevant to the FSR 3 frame-generation warning. Keep frame generation disabled while testing shader compilation mode, and judge the result by hitching during movement and combat rather than by average FPS alone.
How to test a setting change correctly
- Record the current configuration, including resource-pack choice, texture quality, upscaler mode, shader compilation mode, frame generation, anti-aliasing, and model detail.
- Change one setting or one closely related pair, such as texture quality and resource-pack choice.
- Restart when the game or driver has just changed, especially if shader compilation is involved.
- Play the same type of match with comparable player and effect density.
- Observe frame-time consistency during camera turns, traversal, and team fights. A menu counter is not enough because it does not reproduce the workload that causes stutter.
- Check image clarity at native output resolution, including distant characters, thin effects, and edges.
- Keep the change only if it improves the problem you are solving without creating a more distracting visual or control issue.
There is no official benchmark table assigning a specific FPS gain to each individual option. Avoid treating a number from one map or one empty scene as a universal result. The useful comparison is whether the same demanding moment feels steadier after the change.
Common mistakes after a major update
- Chasing the highest displayed FPS: A generated-frame counter can rise while original-frame pacing remains uneven. Test responsiveness and hitching.
- Changing everything at once: You lose the ability to identify which option affected performance.
- Keeping the HD resource pack by default: It consumes more storage and can increase texture pressure; use it only when the visual benefit is worth that cost.
- Blaming textures for a CPU bottleneck: If texture reduction does little, test shader compilation mode, frame generation, Windows GPU assignment, and the CPU-rendering optimization entry.
- Judging the first launch after a driver update: Shader work can make that session atypical. Complete the required restart and retest.
- Assuming recommended hardware means a locked frame rate: The specification identifies a hardware class, not a universal FPS guarantee.
A practical final configuration
For a balanced first run on the current Season 10.5 build, install on an SSD, assign the game to Windows High performance, use the high-resolution pack only when storage and memory allow it, and start with a quality-oriented supported upscaler. Lower texture quality if performance is slow, switch model detail to Performance and anti-aliasing Off if frame times remain unstable, and enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode.
Leave AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation off until the base configuration is smooth. If your CPU has sufficient thread headroom, test it as a separate change; if stutters appear, disable it again. After the October 15 update, validate the result in demanding matches because no official preset or FPS target covers every PC combination.
