Where to change Major V’s EQ
Marshall says Major V works without its app, but the Marshall Bluetooth app adds personal EQ adjustment, M-button customization, and software updates. The official materials confirm the EQ feature but do not specify numeric band frequencies, gain values, or genre presets. The app’s current controls may vary, so use the labels and options actually shown on your device rather than assuming particular frequency bands.

To connect the headphones, hold the control knob until the LED pulses blue, select MAJOR V in your device’s Bluetooth list, then follow the Marshall Bluetooth app setup.
Make the equalizer easier to reach
You can assign the left-cup M-button to open the equalizer in the Marshall Bluetooth app. Marshall lists Spotify Tap, equaliser, voice assistant, and do nothing as the available actions; Spotify Tap is the default. Once assigned, use the button as a shortcut to your EQ settings.

Starting points for bass, vocals, and podcasts
These are practical listening suggestions, not tested curves or official Marshall presets. Change one thing at a time, listen at a comfortable and consistent volume, and adjust toward what sounds natural to you.
For more bass
- Start from your current EQ and make a small bass lift.
- Listen for whether kick drums and bass lines gain impact without becoming boomy.
- If the added bass covers vocals or makes the mix feel heavy, reduce the lift.
For clearer vocals
- If a voice sounds thick or recessed, try reducing excess bass slightly before raising other parts of the sound.
- If the app exposes a midrange or presence control, try only a small adjustment and check that voices do not become sharp or harsh.
- Do not rely on a particular control name or band being available unless you see it in the app.
For podcasts
- Choose a restrained bass balance and the clearest comfortable voice setting.
- Compare the same short spoken passage after each change. Keep playback volume consistent and safe so loudness does not influence the comparison.
- Prioritize speech intelligibility and comfort over extra bass, especially during longer listening sessions.
When an adjustment sounds wrong
If voices or instruments start to sound unnatural, move the EQ back toward its previous or default setting. Small, reversible changes make it easier to identify what helped.

What Marshall says about Major V’s sound
Marshall describes Major V’s sound as “Thunderous bass, smooth mids and crisp treble.” That is the manufacturer’s product characterization, not an independent measurement or a guarantee that the stock tuning will suit every recording or listener. Marshall also says the headphones use custom-tuned dynamic drivers and reduced distortion; those are manufacturer claims.

Wired listening and other limits
Marshall’s English manual says the included 3.5 mm lead connects to an analogue audio output. The reviewed documentation does not establish whether app EQ settings persist identically in every wired-use case, so do not assume that a setting made in the app will behave the same over an analogue connection.
