Set Scroll Direction to Natural in the INFTYLAB Glide desktop app, then enable Smooth Scrolling. Those two settings produce the closest approximation to the “content follows your fingers” feel of a Mac trackpad. Tune DPI separately for Bluetooth, the 2.4G receiver and wired use, because each connection can use a different DPI profile and Bluetooth is limited to a lower polling rate.
The M Mouse can map Mac commands such as Mission Control, screenshots and horizontal scrolling, but it is still a mouse. It does not add Apple’s physical Multi-Touch surface or reproduce every two-, three- or four-finger gesture. If pinch-to-zoom, rotate, Smart Zoom and continuous multi-finger navigation are essential, a Magic Trackpad remains the better fit.

What “trackpad-like” scrolling means on the M Mouse
A conventional mouse wheel is usually “standard”: moving the wheel down moves the document down. macOS trackpads normally use Natural scrolling, where content moves in the same direction as your fingers. Drag two fingers upward and the page follows upward; drag downward and it follows downward.
The M Mouse recreates that part of the interaction through software. Its wheel is not a Multi-Touch panel, so the result is a smooth, wheel-based approximation rather than a literal trackpad surface. Glide can also animate wheel movement with Smooth Scrolling and assign shortcuts that imitate selected Mac actions.

What it can reproduce
- Natural or standard wheel direction.
- Smoother animated scrolling through Glide’s desktop setting.
- Horizontal scrolling when assigned to a function button or supported control.
- Shortcuts for Mission Control, screenshots and other macOS actions.
- A radial Quick Pie shortcut menu opened from an assigned button.
What it cannot reproduce
Apple’s native trackpad gesture set includes two-finger scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, rotate and Smart Zoom, along with additional multi-finger gestures. The M Mouse maps selected commands to buttons; it does not provide a continuously touch-sensitive surface. Users who rely on gestures rather than buttons should keep a dedicated trackpad available.
Requirements and connection choices
Use the Glide desktop app on macOS 13 or later for the complete feature set. The mouse also has a browser-based Glide WebHID setup, but WebHID exposes fewer controls and only works in browsers that implement WebHID, including Chrome and Edge.
| Connection | Polling limit | Configuration note |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth | 125 Hz | Uses a separate Bluetooth DPI profile; lower polling can feel different from receiver or wired mode. |
| 2.4G USB receiver | Up to 1,000 Hz | The receiver uses USB-C and includes a USB-A adapter. It supports a separate DPI profile. |
| USB wired | Up to 1,000 Hz | Uses its own DPI profile and can provide the highest polling option. |
The product specification lists a maximum of 6,000 DPI and a listed weight of 85 g (INFTYLAB/BenQ, 2026). These are limits, not recommendations. A high maximum DPI does not make a setting automatically better for a particular display or user.
Set up the Glide desktop app step by step
- Install Glide. Download and install the INFTYLAB Glide desktop app for macOS 13 or later, then launch it. Grant any macOS permission the app requests for the shortcuts or input features you intend to use.
- Connect the mouse. Pair it over Bluetooth, plug in the 2.4G receiver, or connect it by cable. If you use more than one mode, configure each mode separately rather than assuming one DPI value will carry across all three.
- Open the mouse device page. Select the M Mouse in Glide and locate its scrolling, pointer, connection and button controls. Labels can vary slightly with an app revision, but the relevant controls are Scroll Direction, Smooth Scrolling, DPI, polling rate, button assignment and Quick Pie.
- Choose Natural scrolling. Set Scroll Direction to Natural. This is the setting that makes wheel movement match the direction of a finger moving content on a Mac trackpad. Choose Standard instead if you prefer traditional mouse-wheel behavior.
- Turn on Smooth Scrolling. Enable Smooth Scrolling in the desktop app. It changes the motion between wheel steps, making scrolling feel less abrupt. It is a Glide desktop feature and is not available in the no-install web version.
- Configure horizontal scrolling. Assign a function button to side-scrolling or another horizontal-scroll action if you work in wide spreadsheets, timelines or design canvases. Desktop Glide is required for side-scrolling customization.
- Set DPI for the current connection. Start at a moderate value, test pointer travel across your display and then increase or decrease it. Repeat the adjustment after switching between Bluetooth, receiver and wired modes because each can retain its own profile.
- Choose a polling rate. Use a higher rate when you want more frequent pointer reports and your receiver or cable connection supports it. Bluetooth is capped at 125 Hz; receiver and wired modes can reach 1,000 Hz. A higher rate is not a universal improvement and may have different power or system-load implications on your setup.
- Assign the three function buttons. Select each button and choose the Mac command or shortcut you use most. Mission Control, screenshot and horizontal scrolling are useful starting assignments; Glide can replace them with other shortcuts or supported Mac actions.
- Try Quick Pie if it suits your workflow. Assign Quick Pie to a button, then press it to open a radial shortcut menu beside the pointer. It requires the desktop app and is most useful when you have several occasional commands that would otherwise consume separate buttons.
- Enable maintenance features as needed. Desktop Glide provides low-battery alerts and firmware updates. These controls are not available in the WebHID-only setup.
Which DPI and polling settings should you use?
There is no single “best DPI” value. The right speed depends on display size, scaling, pointer acceleration, desk space and how precisely you need to place the cursor. The official material publishes a maximum rather than a universal recommendation.
A practical calibration method
- Choose a moderate DPI for the connection you are currently using.
- Move the pointer from one side of your primary display to the other using a comfortable hand movement.
- Lower DPI if you repeatedly overshoot buttons, handles or small controls.
- Raise DPI if you run out of desk space or make large arm movements for routine navigation.
- Repeat on every display arrangement you use regularly, especially if a laptop is sometimes connected to an external monitor.
Keep the values consistent across connection modes if you switch between them during the day. If Bluetooth feels slower or less immediate, check both its DPI profile and its 125 Hz polling limit before changing macOS pointer settings.

- Wired: appropriate when you want the highest available polling option without relying on a wireless link.
Button mappings that make macOS navigation faster
The three function buttons are the bridge between a conventional mouse and Mac-specific commands. Assign commands you perform repeatedly rather than duplicating actions already easy to reach from the keyboard.
| Button role | Suggested assignment | Best use case |
|---|---|---|
| Function button 1 | Mission Control | Switching among full-screen apps, windows and Spaces. |
| Function button 2 | Screenshot | Capturing a screen or selected region without reaching for a keyboard shortcut. |
| Function button 3 | Horizontal scrolling | Wide documents, spreadsheets, editing timelines and canvases. |
These are sensible starting assignments, not a claim about a fixed factory layout. Glide lets you replace them with other shortcuts or supported Mac actions. If one command is rarely used, reassign that button instead of adding another layer of menus.
Using Quick Pie instead of fixed buttons
Quick Pie is useful when you need more commands than the three physical buttons can hold. Assign it to one button and place related actions around the radial menu. Because it opens beside the pointer, it can reduce cursor travel. It requires the installed desktop app; the WebHID version cannot configure it.
Can you configure the mouse without installing Glide?
Yes, within limits. The Glide WebHID version can configure DPI, polling rate and selected button shortcuts in a compatible browser. Chrome and Edge support WebHID, while browsers without WebHID support cannot perform the browser setup.
WebHID setup workflow
- Open the Glide WebHID configurator in a WebHID-capable browser such as Chrome or Edge.
- Connect the M Mouse using Bluetooth, the receiver or a cable, then choose the detected device.
- Change DPI, polling rate or an available button shortcut.
- Save or apply the change when the configurator offers that control, then test the mouse in another window.
- Repeat for each connection mode whose profile behaves differently.
Settings can remain stored on the mouse when the selected function supports onboard storage. WebHID does not provide the complete desktop feature set: Scroll Direction, Smooth Scrolling, side-scrolling customization, Quick Pie, low-battery alerts and firmware updates require Glide for macOS.

Troubleshooting trackpad-like behavior
The wheel moves opposite to my Mac trackpad
Open the installed Glide app and set Scroll Direction to Natural. If you configured the mouse only through WebHID, install and use the desktop app because scroll direction is a desktop-only control.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesScrolling still feels jumpy
Confirm that Smooth Scrolling is enabled in desktop Glide. The browser configurator cannot enable it. Also test a different application: some apps implement their own wheel handling, so a difference between apps does not necessarily indicate a faulty mouse.
The pointer speed changes when I switch connections
Set DPI separately for Bluetooth, the 2.4G receiver and wired mode. Each connection can use its own profile and default behavior. If Bluetooth remains less responsive after matching DPI, its 125 Hz polling limit is the expected difference.
My preferred polling rate is unavailable
Check the connection first. Bluetooth supports 125 Hz, while the receiver and wired modes support up to 1,000 Hz. The 1,000 Hz maximum is a product limit, not a guarantee that every operating condition or browser setup will expose every intermediate value.
I cannot find Quick Pie, side scrolling or battery alerts
Those controls are available in the installed Glide desktop app, not the no-install WebHID version. Use macOS 13 or later and open the full desktop application.

Buttons do not perform the assigned Mac action
Reopen Glide, verify that the correct mouse connection profile is selected and reapply the assignment. A shortcut that depends on macOS permissions may also need the permission requested when Glide was installed. Test with a simple action such as Mission Control before troubleshooting a more complex custom shortcut.
Should I update firmware?
Use the desktop app’s firmware-update feature when Glide offers one and follow its on-screen instructions. Keep the mouse connected during the process. Firmware updating is not available from the WebHID-only feature set.

The choice is mainly about input surface and workflow, not a contest over one pointer-speed number.
| Consideration | INFTYLAB M Mouse | Apple Magic Trackpad |
|---|---|---|
| Physical ergonomics | Traditional 85 g mouse grip with wheel and function buttons. | Flat touch surface designed for finger gestures rather than a mouse grip. |
| Scroll direction | Natural or Standard selectable in Glide desktop. | Native macOS trackpad behavior. |
| Smooth or side scrolling | Smooth Scrolling and side-scrolling customization require Glide desktop. | Two-finger scrolling is native to the surface. |
| Shortcut customization | Three function buttons and optional Quick Pie; Glide assigns Mac actions. | Uses macOS gesture and system settings rather than mouse buttons. |
| Multi-Touch coverage | Does not provide physical pinch, rotate, Smart Zoom or full multi-finger gestures. | Provides Apple’s native Multi-Touch gesture set. |
| Connections | Bluetooth, 2.4G USB-C receiver with USB-A adapter, or wired; receiver and wired modes support up to 1,000 Hz, Bluetooth 125 Hz. | Uses Apple’s own trackpad connection options. |
| Software requirement | Glide desktop is needed for the full feature set; WebHID covers a smaller subset. | Core gestures are handled by macOS. |
| Multiple-computer portability | Bluetooth supports up to three devices according to the product page, with connection-specific profiles. | Pairing and switching depend on Apple’s trackpad workflow. |
Choose the M Mouse when you prefer a mouse grip, a wheel and programmable buttons but want Natural scrolling and smoother motion. Choose a Magic Trackpad when continuous Multi-Touch gestures are the reason you want a trackpad-like interface in the first place.

Design, editing and wide documents
Keep Natural scrolling if it matches your other Mac devices, enable Smooth Scrolling and dedicate a button to horizontal scrolling. Test the receiver or wired mode if you need the higher polling limit during precise pointer work.
Travel between several Macs
Use Bluetooth when minimizing adapters matters and remember that it is limited to 125 Hz. If the same mouse moves at different speeds on different computers, check the connection-specific DPI profile rather than changing every Mac’s pointer settings.
Questions readers commonly ask
What is Mac trackpad-like smooth scrolling?
It is wheel movement adjusted to feel less like discrete notches and more like continuous content motion. On this mouse, Smooth Scrolling is a Glide desktop feature; it does not turn the wheel into a touch surface.

Yes. In the Glide desktop app, choose Natural under Scroll Direction. Choose Standard if conventional mouse-wheel direction is more comfortable.
Do I need to download INFTYLAB Glide to customize the mouse?
Not for every setting. WebHID in Chrome or Edge can set DPI, polling rate and selected shortcuts. You do need the desktop app for Natural or Standard scroll direction, Smooth Scrolling, side-scrolling customization, Quick Pie, low-battery alerts and firmware updates.
What are the default shortcuts?
The useful starting layout is Mission Control, screenshot and horizontal scrolling, but Glide allows you to assign different Mac shortcuts. Treat those as recommended mappings rather than a guaranteed factory-default list.
