Amazon says new “Today’s Big Deals” drop at midnight, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. PDT. It also recommends checking the product-page “Price History” link; the feature can show up to 365 days of pricing insights on covered product pages, but Amazon does not say every Mac listing will have that data.

Which Mac deal makes sense for you?
MacBook Neo: the lowest-cost entry, with modest savings here
Macworld describes the Neo as Apple’s cheapest laptop, with an A18 Pro chip, 8GB memory and a 256GB SSD in its base configuration. It is aimed at students, first-time Mac buyers and everyday tasks such as browsing, documents, streaming and video calls. Macworld’s suggested good U.S. price is $649 or less; the October 2 reported $690 offer is only $9 below its stated $699 MSRP. Macworld argues that a somewhat more expensive Air may be a better long-term buy for many shoppers. Consider whether the Neo’s lower price and everyday-use focus matter more than the Air’s additional headroom.
MacBook Air: the general-purpose choice
Macworld recommends the M5 MacBook Air for most people. It reports current starting prices of $1,299 for the 13-inch and $1,499 for the 15-inch after June price increases. The October 2 U.S. listing for the 15-inch is $100 below its stated MSRP, while the 13-inch listing is $65 below. Macworld says a discount of $100 or £100 or more is worth considering and cites historical lows of about $900/£989 for the entry 13-inch and $1,100/£1,169 for the 15-inch. Those are Macworld’s historical comparisons, not a promise that prices will return to those levels. Compare screen size, memory and storage as well as the discount; these offers do not all represent the same configuration.

MacBook Pro: pay for the workload and configuration you need
Macworld describes the range as 14- and 16-inch models with M5, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. A Pro deal is worth comparing when you need a Pro-class machine; match chip, screen size, memory and storage before judging one price against another. The October 2 snapshot includes different configurations in each market, so the listed savings are not a like-for-like U.S.-to-U.K. comparison. Macworld mentions a rumored redesign, but Apple has not confirmed it; a purchase decision should rest on current needs and verified prices, not rumor.
Mac mini: desktop price, plus the cost of your setup
A Mac mini is a desktop, so include any display, keyboard, mouse and other peripherals you still need when comparing its cost with a laptop. Macworld reports September launches for M6 and M5 Pro models, with starting prices of $899/£899 for M6 and $1,699/£1,699 for M5 Pro. It expects discounts on these new models to be modest and older M4/M4 Pro stock potentially to see reductions; that is Macworld’s expectation, not a confirmed event outcome. The U.S. M5 Pro listing is $30 below its stated MSRP, while the U.K. M6 listing is £75 below its stated RRP.

How to judge a real Prime Day discount
- Compare the live offer with the current list price and, where available, the product-page Price History. Amazon says its history feature covers up to 365 days of insights on eligible product pages, not necessarily every Mac listing.
- Match the chip, screen size, memory and storage. A lower price on a different configuration is not proof that the model you want has a better deal.
- Decide whether the savings justify buying now. A small reduction may be less compelling than a model that better fits your workload or a configuration with enough storage and memory for your needs.
- Check that the listing is for the intended market and that seller, stock, configuration and final checkout price still match the offer you evaluated.
Amazon says the October event’s deals can be limited-time and available while supplies last. Macworld’s October 2 prices were recorded before the event began, and Amazon has not confirmed any Mac-specific Prime Big Deal Days discounts. Treat those figures as a starting point for comparison, not live event pricing.
