Which setup do you actually need?
“24/7 stream” can mean two different things. A prerecorded ambience video loop is a playback task; a camera feed or a composed OBS scene is a live production task. Choose the machine only after deciding which one you are building.

- Live or composed output: A live camera, capture card, overlays, browser sources, filters, or other OBS elements require a local encoder or another suitable live-production setup.
These approaches are not interchangeable: a cloud loop can suit uploaded videos, while a live camera or complex OBS scene needs a system that can produce that output.

Why consider the Beelink Mini S12 Pro?
Beelink’s product page lists a Mini S12 Pro configuration with an Intel N100, 16 GB DDR4 memory, a 500 GB SSD, gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi 6, and a fan-and-heatsink cooling system. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent streaming or endurance-test results. The page was accessed on 2026-10-03, and its indexed listing may not reflect today’s regional bundle. Before buying, confirm the exact memory, storage, operating system, warranty, seller, and price for your region.
Intel’s N100 specification lists four cores and four threads, turbo frequency up to 3.40 GHz, Intel UHD Graphics with 24 execution units, and Quick Sync Video. Intel lists 6 W TDP and a maximum memory size of 16 GB. The 6 W figure is the processor’s thermal design specification—not measured wall power for the complete mini PC. These specifications do not establish OBS performance or long-term reliability.
For a simple loop, hardware encoding support is useful to investigate, but it is not a guarantee. OBS says compatible hardware does not by itself ensure that a system can stream or record successfully; its CPU demands vary with encoder, output resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. A mostly static scene may be less demanding than one with multiple animated overlays, browser sources, capture devices, filters, and simultaneous local recording, but validate your actual setup.

Choose resolution, frame rate, and encoder
YouTube’s live encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1, supports up to 60 fps, recommends CBR bitrate encoding, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Its current guidance recommends 17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps using H.264. Treat that bitrate as a setting for the specified codec and output—not a universal target for every resolution or frame rate. Check YouTube’s current table for your intended combination: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

Set your OBS output to a resolution and frame rate that make sense for the source and your viewers. A static nature scene does not automatically benefit from 60 fps; higher output settings can demand more from encoding and upload bandwidth. Keep the encoder, bitrate, keyframe interval, and YouTube ingest settings consistent.
Check network and physical placement
YouTube recommends testing the upload connection and matching stream quality to its capacity. Prefer wired gigabit Ethernet when practical for a fixed, always-on setup, and test under conditions representative of normal use. The mini PC’s listed gigabit LAN is a port specification, not evidence that your internet connection has adequate upload capacity.
Consider where the machine will run: cooling, ventilation, ambient temperature, and fan noise matter in a room where people sleep or listen to ambience. The product page’s “ultra-quiet” description is a manufacturer claim; no independent noise or sustained-load measurement is established here.

A system intended to run unattended needs a plan for power cuts, operating-system restarts, OBS crashes, and lost internet. Test that the PC and OBS recover in the way you expect, and confirm the stream returns to YouTube after interruptions. If you plan to keep local recordings or source videos on the machine, estimate their storage needs; the listed 500 GB drive is a configuration claim, not a statement about usable capacity after formatting or system files.

How to validate a mini PC for your stream
- Build the real scene. Install your intended operating system and OBS version, then add the actual video source, overlays, filters, audio, and any capture devices you plan to use. Do not assess the PC from the processor name alone.
- Configure the intended output. In OBS, open Settings → Output and choose the encoder available in your installed system. In Settings → Video, set the output resolution and frame rate. Match the stream to YouTube’s current recommendations for codec, CBR bitrate, and keyframe interval; its guidance recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Check YouTube’s stream setup. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and use its stream key in OBS. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel. Use RTMPS when configuring the server connection where supported by your chosen encoder workflow.
- Test with representative content. YouTube says to test before going live, with audio and video movement similar to the planned stream. Check the stream health indicators and messages during the test, not just whether OBS shows that it is connected.
- Run an extended trial and rehearse recovery. Let the complete setup run long enough to reveal heat, dropped frames, disconnects, and other issues. Then test the restart and reconnection path you expect to use after a power or software interruption. A short successful test does not prove months of unattended operation.
Use OBS Project’s system requirements as a compatibility reference, not a performance guarantee. YouTube’s guidance also emphasizes matching quality to connection capacity and monitoring stream health.
Copyright and YouTube channel checks
Nature ambience channels still need rights to everything they broadcast. Confirm that you have permission to use the video, music, sound effects, and any third-party material in the stream; a loop or live presentation does not make unlicensed content safe to use. YouTube’s policies and monetization eligibility are separate from whether a stream technically works, so review the rules that apply to your channel and content before building a 24/7 schedule. Do not assume that repeated playback alone establishes eligibility or avoids a copyright claim.
For a practical preflight, use the copyright safety checklist. Keep records of licenses or permissions for assets you did not create yourself.
Costs and what the 6 W figure does—and does not—tell you
The N100’s 6 W TDP does not tell you how much electricity the full mini PC uses at the wall while streaming. Actual consumption depends on the complete system and workload. No comparable whole-system power measurement or electricity-rate assumption is established here, so a trustworthy monthly operating-cost estimate cannot be made from the processor specification alone. Measure your setup with a plug-in power meter and apply your own electricity rate if you need a cost estimate.
