For a do-it-yourself 24/7 Gurbani stream, Amazon Lightsail is the clearest fixed-price starting point in the available India-region pricing—but its Mumbai data-transfer allowance is half the general bundle allowance. At 3 Mbps, a continuous feed uses about 0.97 decimal TB in a 30-day month before overhead, almost all of the Mumbai allowance on Lightsail’s $7 bundle. At 5 Mbps, it uses about 1.62 TB, more than the $12 bundle’s Mumbai allowance before overhead. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Google Cloud are alternatives, but you need to price the chosen VM and outbound transfer together. None can be called the cheapest or most reliable without matching quotes and workload tests.

If you want to avoid managing a VM, StreamNeo is the first alternative to consider: it keeps an uploaded video or playlist looping to YouTube from the cloud, at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with the first day free.

Choose the service based on what the server must do

The main sizing question is whether the server must encode video or can relay a feed that is already encoded. A prerecorded file or composed source that needs encoding puts more demand on the VM’s CPU or GPU; a suitable already-encoded feed may need less compute. This is an engineering distinction, not a published performance comparison of the providers below. Test the actual workload before relying on a selected VM.

  • For a simple fixed-price baseline: compare Amazon Lightsail’s Mumbai bundle price and reduced regional transfer allowance.
  • For configurable compute: price an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or Google Cloud VM in an India region, then include its network egress and storage charges.
  • For less server administration: StreamNeo runs an uploaded video or playlist in the cloud to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera.

There is no special cloud requirement for Gurbani identified in the technical guidance cited here. The relevant factors are the source, encoding workload, audience, and chosen bitrate. Whichever service you use, confirm that you have the necessary rights to stream the Gurbani recording and any accompanying music or other material.

Set a bitrate before comparing monthly transfer

YouTube accepts encoder streams over RTMP or RTMPS and recommends RTMPS, its secure extension to RTMP. YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends H.264 at 3 Mbps for 720p30 and 5 Mbps for 1080p30. It also specifies H.264, H.265 or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate encoding; and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.

A 24/7 feed consumes data continuously. The following estimates are calculations, not published provider or YouTube statistics: bitrate × seconds × 30 days ÷ 8, converted to decimal bytes. They assume an uninterrupted stream at a constant bitrate for 30 days and exclude protocol overhead.

Example feed Monthly transfer estimate Practical implication for Lightsail Mumbai
720p30 H.264 at 3 Mbps About 0.97 decimal TB Nearly uses the 1 TB allowance on the $7 bundle before overhead.
1080p30 H.264 at 5 Mbps About 1.62 decimal TB Exceeds the 1.5 TB allowance on the $12 bundle before overhead.

Actual provider metering units, stream bitrate variation, and protocol overhead can change the total. Leave headroom rather than planning to consume the full allowance. YouTube advises testing with similar audio and motion and checking stream health before depending on a continuous broadcast.

Compare cloud options for an India-based feed

1. StreamNeo: managed cloud looping to YouTube

For a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo is the simplest alternative to managing a VM: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps it looping without a home computer or connection staying on. Every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, playlists and 24/7 looping, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers. The product streams to YouTube only.

All plans include the same product; only the billing length changes. A first day is free with no card, once per account. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide.

  • Daily: $0.99 per day
  • Weekly: $2.99 per week
  • Monthly: $9.99 per month
  • 6 months: $49.99 for 6 months
  • Yearly: $89.99 a year

2. Amazon Lightsail: clearest fixed-price VM baseline

AWS lists general-purpose Linux/Unix bundles with included memory, vCPUs, SSD storage, and transfer. The published transfer allowance is reduced by half in Mumbai. The listed allowance counts inbound and outbound transfer, but only outbound transfer beyond the allowance is subject to overage. For this use, outbound streaming is the key part of the allowance to watch. The prices below are AWS’s listed monthly prices; check current terms, including overage pricing, before purchasing.

Monthly price Memory vCPUs SSD Listed transfer Mumbai transfer allowance
$5 0.5 GB 2 20 GB 1 TB 0.5 TB
$7 1 GB 2 40 GB 2 TB 1 TB
$12 2 GB 2 60 GB 3 TB 1.5 TB

These bundles are useful as a transparent starting point, not proof that a particular instance can encode your source or remain uninterrupted. Compare the Mumbai allowance with your calculated feed transfer and allow for overhead. Verify present-day pricing and overage terms on AWS Lightsail pricing.

3. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: account for the selected shape

Oracle publishes India-localized compute prices and lists the first 10 TB per month of outbound transfer originating in APAC as free, with charges applying above that threshold. This is not a single all-in VM bundle: the total depends on the compute shape and storage you choose. Include both in your estimate and verify current terms in Oracle’s India cloud price list.

4. Google Cloud: estimate VM and egress together

Google Cloud documents Mumbai and Delhi regions and tiered network egress pricing. Compute and networking are separate configurable costs, so the egress rate alone is not comparable with a Lightsail bundle that includes an allowance. Price the selected VM, region, storage, destination, and network tier together using Google Cloud network pricing.

Why a managed AWS video stack is a different comparison

AWS also documents a managed live-video architecture that includes encoding, packaging, and viewer distribution. Its example is $69.74 per hour for a one-hour SD-540p event in US East with about 1,000 viewers, under the example’s stated assumptions. That is not a cost estimate for one VM sending a feed to YouTube. The architecture and distribution workload differ; see AWS’s live-streaming cost example.

Make a like-for-like cost estimate

Before calling a VM the low-cost choice, estimate each candidate against the same continuous-feed assumptions. A cheap compute line item can be outweighed by transfer or operational requirements.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Fix the video workload: choose resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate, then decide whether the VM encodes the source or relays an already encoded feed.
  2. Choose the source and storage: determine whether media is stored on the VM or supplied externally, and account for storage and any transfer associated with getting it there.
  3. Select an India region and instance: compare Mumbai or another available region, VM shape, memory, and compute cost. Do not assume a low-cost instance can handle encoding without testing.
  4. Calculate a full month of egress: multiply the sustained bitrate by the seconds in the billing period, divide by eight, and convert to the provider’s metering units. Add headroom for overhead and variable bitrate.
  5. Apply provider transfer terms: check the region-specific allowance, what traffic counts toward it, overage charges, network tier, and destination rules.
  6. Add the operational costs and checks: include storage, taxes where applicable, monitoring, restart and alert arrangements, and the time required to maintain the service.

Provider prices, regional quotas, metering, availability, and taxes can change. Recheck current provider terms immediately before buying. The published prices alone do not establish a same-workload winner, latency result, or uptime comparison.

Configure the YouTube stream safely

  1. Enable YouTube Live and create the stream through YouTube’s workflow. Keep the stream key private: do not put it in a public script, screenshot, or article. Treat anyone with access to the key as able to send to that stream.
  2. Set the encoder for the selected format. Use a supported video and audio codec, constant bitrate, and a two-second keyframe interval where applicable; do not exceed four seconds. For H.264, YouTube’s cited recommendations are 3 Mbps at 720p30 or 5 Mbps at 1080p30.
  3. Use RTMPS and the valid ingest endpoint. YouTube’s RTMPS API guidance specifies port 443 on the valid ingest server. See YouTube’s Live Streaming API guidance.
  4. Run a representative test. Test with audio and motion similar to the intended feed, then monitor YouTube stream health and review any ingest messages before leaving it running.
  5. Plan recovery and monitoring. Arrange for the streaming process to restart after a failure, retain useful logs, and alert someone when the feed stops. The cited provider pricing does not establish a provider-specific restart configuration or guarantee.

Common problems and what to check

  • The feed stops after a transfer quota is reached: compare actual metered outbound traffic with the region-specific allowance and overage terms. A continuous bitrate estimate is only a baseline; overhead can push usage higher.
  • YouTube reports poor stream health: check sustained upload capacity, encoder bitrate and keyframe interval, and whether the server is overloaded encoding the source. Test the same resolution and similar audio and motion.
  • The encoder cannot connect: confirm that the stream key is correct and private, the ingest server is valid, and RTMPS uses port 443 as required by YouTube’s API guidance.
  • The process does not resume after a restart or disconnect: check service supervision, restart behavior, logs, and alerts. Build and test a recovery plan rather than assuming the VM provider restarts your encoder automatically.
  • The bill is higher than the VM price: inspect egress, storage, overage, tax, and any separately billed network components. Google Cloud and Oracle require configuration-specific totals; Lightsail’s Mumbai transfer allowance is reduced.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, the setup is three steps: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It plays your uploaded video to YouTube, at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding. If YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers it. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start the free day on StreamNeo.
