The lowest-cost route may be free OBS on a computer you keep running; the lowest-effort route is a cloud service that loops your videos for you. OBS has no software fee, but you supply the computer, electricity, internet connection, configuration and upkeep. Among the cloud plans reviewed on October 3, 2026, Beamd and YTStream each displayed a $19 monthly entry price, with different limits and trial terms. StreamNeo is the first cloud alternative to consider if you want an always-on YouTube stream from the cloud, any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and a free first day.
Choose by total cost and operating effort
A 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream needs an encoder or cloud service to send video to YouTube continuously. YouTube describes encoders as software or hardware that convert video into a digital format for streaming, and lists OBS among its free, open-source software options. You can run an encoder yourself or pay a cloud provider to handle the continuous operation. YouTube’s encoder catalog lists tools, but inclusion is not an endorsement.

Compare the whole workflow rather than the monthly headline price: number of simultaneous streams, output quality, storage, playlist and scheduling features, restart handling, trial restrictions, and whether you must keep a computer and reliable uplink running. The Beamd and YTStream offers below were displayed on vendor pages accessed October 3, 2026; prices and features can change, so confirm the current terms before paying.

YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded streaming; that listing does not establish price or performance. |
| 6. Restream | Its pricing FAQ describes free multistreaming to two channels out of 30+ supported; prerecorded Upload & Stream is available. | Someone who needs multichannel distribution or scheduled prerecorded broadcasts. | Whether the intended workflow supports indefinite unattended looping; the pricing page does not establish it as a 24/7 loop replacement. |
StreamNeo’s plans offer the same product; only the billing duration changes. Its slot includes one always-on stream, looping and playlists, 10 GB pooled storage per slot, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. See StreamNeo for current details.

What each route costs beyond the advertised price
OBS: no software subscription, but you operate the system
OBS is free software, not a free end-to-end 24/7 service. The computer, power, internet connection and maintenance are yours to provide. The official sources reviewed do not calculate electricity or hardware costs, so there is no reliable universal total to compare with a cloud subscription. A spare computer you already own may make this route inexpensive; buying or dedicating equipment changes the calculation.
Cloud plans: compare limits, not just monthly prices
Beamd and YTStream both displayed a $19 monthly entry point, but their offers are not equivalent. Beamd specifies one simultaneous stream at 1080p/60fps and gives trial limits; YTStream prices per 1080p stream and advertises unlimited 24/7 streaming, looping playlists and auto-restart. Do not infer that one is cheaper for your setup without considering how many streams you need and the included storage and controls.

Gyre is a relevant cloud option in YouTube’s encoder catalog, but the reviewed sources do not establish a comparable price. Restream supports prerecorded broadcasts and multistreaming, but the cited pricing information does not establish unattended continuous looping. Treat each as a product to verify against your exact workflow, not a confirmed substitute based on name or category alone.

YouTube’s encoder guidance confirms OBS as free streaming and recording software, but the reviewed material does not provide a tested OBS configuration for 24/7 prerecorded looping. - Prepare the source and computer. Put the video files you want to play in a stable, local folder and make sure your computer, power and internet connection can remain available. Check the current OBS requirements for your operating system and workload; no minimum hardware specification is established in the cited sources.
- Create the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and obtain its stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions are at the official help page.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and connect the account or enter the stream key as the available setup allows. Check that the selected destination and key match the intended YouTube stream.
- Build the playback scene. Add the video source or playlist method you intend to use, arrange sources in a scene, and enable looping if the chosen source supports it. Play a test and confirm that transitions, audio and aspect ratio behave as intended. OBS source and playlist controls can vary with the source type and installed version.
- Match output to the video and connection. Set the output resolution and frame rate to a quality your source and uplink can sustain. Use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for bitrate and keyframe interval rather than copying an arbitrary setting: the reviewed sources do not establish a single bitrate or keyframe value for every resolution, frame rate and connection.
- Test before going public. Start with an unlisted stream, check YouTube’s preview and stream health, confirm the video loops, and listen for audio problems. Only switch to a public or scheduled broadcast once the test behaves correctly.
- Plan for interruptions. A self-hosted setup depends on the computer and connection remaining available. Decide how you will notice a dropped stream and restart it; the reviewed official documentation does not validate a particular unattended OBS recovery configuration.
Copyright, reused content and YouTube rules
Having a file available does not grant permission to broadcast it. Use video, music, images and other material you own or are licensed to stream, and keep documentation of permissions where relevant. YouTube’s encoder listing is a tool catalog, not a waiver of its platform rules. Repeating prerecorded material also does not guarantee monetization: check YouTube’s current copyright and monetization policies for your channel and content. No independent audience, revenue or watch-time outcome is established by the sources reviewed here.

Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream problems
- YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that OBS is set to YouTube, the correct stream key is entered, and the stream is actually started. If the key has been reset, replace the old one in OBS.
- Video stutters or stream health is poor: Reduce output demands or bitrate to fit the available uplink, then test again. Follow YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for your chosen resolution and frame rate; the reviewed sources do not establish one universal bitrate.
- The video stops instead of looping: Confirm that the playback source is configured to loop and test the end-to-start transition. Verify behavior with the exact source type and OBS version you use.
- The stream ends after a power or internet interruption: A locally run encoder depends on your computer and connection. Restore power or connectivity and restart the broadcast; do not assume automatic recovery unless your configured system or service specifically provides it.
- Trial output has a watermark or hits a limit: Beamd’s stated trial includes a watermark and limits of one stream, one destination, 20 GB and 15 files for 72 hours. Check those terms before using it for a public broadcast.
- Content is claimed or removed: Review the rights for every video and audio track in the playlist, and follow YouTube’s notices and appeal process where appropriate. A continuous loop does not change ownership or licensing requirements.
