Diablo IV is the clearest choice if “better loot” means a constant stream of legendary equipment, class upgrades and repeatable monster farming. Choose Path of Exile 2 for deeper theorycrafting, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning for a colorful single-player fantasy journey, Monster Hunter Wilds or Monster Hunter: World for targeted hunt-to-craft progression, and Nioh 2 for demanding melee combat with layered gear systems.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 combines vocation experimentation, a customizable main Pawn, open travel through Vermund and Battahl, and memorable battles against large monsters. Its equipment system is not built around an endless random-drop treadmill, however. The games below intensify a different part of that formula: random loot, build optimization, deliberate crafting, exploration or combat mastery.

How these games improve on Dragon’s Dogma 2’s loot
“Loot-focused” can describe several very different progression loops. Diablo IV showers you with randomized items and asks you to refine a build around the best combinations. Path of Exile 2 makes the equipment and passive systems themselves the main hobby. Monster Hunter turns every weapon upgrade into a specific hunting project. Nioh 2 mixes difficult fights with frequent gear evaluation, while Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning offers a broad, self-contained fantasy adventure with extensive equipment and class evolution.

Diablo IV: the cleanest answer to “I want more loot”
Diablo IV is the most direct answer when the satisfying part of Dragon’s Dogma 2 for you was defeating monsters and checking what they dropped. Its world is organized around combat encounters, character classes and a steady stream of equipment, including legendary loot. Instead of waiting for one particular sword in a long story, you repeatedly clear activities, compare drops and adjust your build.
Why its loot loop works
Every run can produce an upgrade, a useful effect for another build or materials that help improve the equipment you already own. The loop is intentionally repeatable: fight monsters, collect gear, salvage or equip it, then tackle tougher content. That makes Diablo IV a better fit than Dragon’s Dogma 2 if you want progression to continue after the main narrative has stopped being the focus.
The game supports solo progression as well as two-player local co-op and four-player online play, according to PlayStation’s feature description. It also supports trading, cross-play and cross-progression. Those shared systems make it easy to alternate between a private campaign and group farming rather than committing to one mode.
Classes, platforms and caveats
GamesRadar lists Diablo IV on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and connects its six classes to a raid-and-loot progression loop. Platform features and available content can vary as the live service changes, so check the current edition for the season and expansions you intend to play.
The trade-off is that Diablo IV is an action RPG first, not a party-based exploration adventure. Its zones, quests and encounters serve the farming loop. If you want the specific thrill of climbing a griffin, improvising with a Pawn or discovering a remote ruin, this is a change of emphasis rather than a replacement for Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Choose Diablo IV if
- You want the largest number of meaningful equipment drops per session.
- You enjoy class-based builds and repeating activities to make a character stronger.
- You want to play alone but keep co-op and cross-progression available.
- You are comfortable with a live-service game whose seasonal and expansion details evolve.
Path of Exile 2: the systems-first loot RPG
Path of Exile 2 is for players who view loot as a set of tools for building a character rather than as a simple reward screen. GameSpot lists it as an early-access action RPG released on December 6, 2024 for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with co-op for up to six players. Its combat is more methodical than Diablo’s, while its gear, skill and passive systems invite sustained experimentation.

What makes the build chase different
In a conventional loot game, you often replace an item because its numbers are higher. Path of Exile 2 asks more questions: does this item support your skill setup, solve a resistance problem, change your resource economy or enable a completely different play style? That makes an apparently weaker drop valuable if it unlocks a better overall combination.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The result is a longer decision process between fights. You spend time tuning equipment and abilities, testing interactions and planning for the punishing endgame described in the coverage. This is ideal if you enjoy spreadsheets, build guides and the satisfaction of discovering a powerful interaction; it is less suitable if you want to equip the newest item immediately and keep moving through a cinematic story.
Early-access limits matter
Both GameSpot and GamesRadar describe Path of Exile 2 as early access. The cited coverage says its campaign and class roster are incomplete, and scope or pricing can change while development continues. Treat the current version as an evolving foundation rather than a finished replacement for a completed single-player adventure.
Its six-player co-op makes it the most group-oriented option in this list, but cooperation does not remove the complexity. Everyone still has to understand their own build, equipment requirements and combat timing. If you want a more predictable solo campaign with a finished arc, choose Amalur instead.
Choose Path of Exile 2 if
- You want the deepest build optimization among these recommendations.
- You enjoy methodical fights and planning more than instant, arcade-like clearing.
- You expect to rebuild characters, test interactions and pursue a demanding endgame.
- You accept early-access limitations, an incomplete campaign and a changing feature set.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning: the broad single-player substitute
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is the closest broad fantasy alternative for someone who wants to remain in a colorful, self-contained world after Dragon’s Dogma 2. The remaster combines a large single-player setting with action combat, many equipment choices and a flexible approach to character development.

The official publisher description highlights combinations of skills, abilities, weapons and armor rather than a permanently locked class. You can therefore experiment with different roles while still pursuing equipment that supports the way you actually play.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
That flexibility resembles Dragon’s Dogma 2’s vocation experimentation more closely than the fixed class identity of a traditional seasonal ARPG. The difference is pacing: Amalur presents its gear and abilities inside a conventional open-world quest structure instead of asking you to repeat the same activity for an ideal legendary roll.
Content and presentation
The remaster includes all original downloadable content, and the publisher advertises hundreds of hours of play. Those are publisher-provided scope claims, not a guaranteed completion time; optional quests, exploration and downloadable areas determine how long an individual run lasts.
Its age is the main limitation. Re-Reckoning improves the original release but still has an older presentation and combat feel than a current-generation action RPG. The world is broad and colorful, yet enemy reactions and animation do not have the same immediacy as Dragon’s Dogma 2. In return, you get a substantial, self-contained adventure that does not depend on seasonal resets.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesChoose Amalur if
- You want a solo fantasy campaign with a great deal of optional exploration.
- You like changing your role through skills, abilities and Destiny evolution.
- You want equipment variety without an always-online, season-driven structure.
- You can accept remastered-generation visuals and a less modern combat feel.
Monster Hunter Wilds: make every drop serve a target
Monster Hunter Wilds replaces random loot showers with a deliberate hunt-to-craft loop. PlayStation describes a process in which resources gained from hunts become increasingly powerful weapons and armor. You identify a creature, prepare for its attacks, defeat it, carve or gather its materials, and forge an upgrade tied to that hunt.
Why targeted rewards feel satisfying
This model is especially good for players who dislike sorting through piles of nearly identical random items. If you need a particular material, you know which monster to pursue. The reward is not merely a higher number; it is a visible piece of equipment with a connection to the creature you overcame.
Preparation is part of progression. Choosing a weapon, learning a monster’s patterns and deciding which materials to prioritize can matter more than reflexes alone. That makes Wilds a strong follow-up when Dragon’s Dogma 2’s large-monster battles were your favorite moments, but you wanted a clearer reason to repeat them.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The important trade-off
Wilds does not provide the Diablo-style sensation of opening a chest and finding a surprising legendary item. You are working toward a known weapon or armor set, and repetition is purposeful rather than random. Players who enjoy planning a build around a specific target will find that motivating; players who want constant surprise may prefer Diablo IV.
Recommended Free Tools
Choose Monster Hunter Wilds if
- You want every major upgrade tied to a recognizable monster and a concrete crafting goal.
- You enjoy learning attack patterns and improving through weapon mastery.
- You prefer a hunt, harvest and forge loop to randomized equipment drops.
- You want the most direct continuation of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s giant-monster appeal.
Monster Hunter: World: the mature hunting alternative
Monster Hunter: World uses the same targeted material philosophy as Wilds in a more established package. GamesRadar lists it for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox One, and describes an open world built around combat, harvesting, crafting and post-launch updates.
World versus Wilds
World is the sensible choice when you want a mature hunting RPG with a large amount of existing content and do not need the newest presentation. Its progression still asks you to hunt specific monsters, gather their parts and craft stronger equipment. You therefore spend less time asking whether a random item is worth keeping and more time deciding which hunt will move your planned set forward.
Wilds is the newer recommendation in this pair; World is the older one. The age difference affects visual presentation and how current the surrounding systems feel, but it does not erase World’s central strength: a well-established combat-and-crafting loop that can occupy a long-term solo or cooperative campaign.
Choose Monster Hunter: World if
- You want a content-rich hunting RPG and are comfortable with an older release.
- You prefer deliberate crafting targets over randomized drops.
- You want cooperative support around hunts and preparation.
- You value a proven package more than the newest presentation.
Nioh 2: loot alongside demanding melee mastery
Nioh 2 is the pick for players who want equipment to matter without letting equipment replace skill. PlayStation describes a challenging action RPG in which a half-human, half-Yokai warrior uses lethal weapons and transforms to unleash paranormal powers. Its sprawling environments, secrets and dojo training reinforce a combat-first progression loop.
Why its gear system feels different
Mission rewards and layered equipment systems give you frequent opportunities to refine a build, but enemies remain dangerous even when your numbers improve. Weapon familiarity, timing, stance choices and Yokai abilities all contribute to success. A strong item can support a strategy; it cannot remove the need to learn encounters.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
This makes Nioh 2 a better answer to “Which RPG has Dragon’s Dogma-style combat but deeper builds?” than to “Which game gives me the most random loot?” The game rewards close attention to enemy behavior and deliberate skill training. Its dojo offers a place to practice, while secrets and alternate routes make exploration worthwhile between major fights.
Expect a steeper learning curve
Nioh 2 demands more precision than Amalur or a typical Diablo session. Early defeats are part of the learning process, and the number of systems can feel dense before their relationships become clear. Start with one weapon, learn its basic timing and add Yokai abilities gradually instead of trying to master every option at once.
Choose Nioh 2 if
- You want difficult real-time melee where execution remains important after you improve your gear.
- You enjoy supernatural abilities, secrets and dojo-based skill training.
- You want layered builds without giving up demanding encounters.
- You are willing to spend time learning systems instead of expecting immediate power.
Which game should you choose?
For the strongest conventional gear chase
Pick Diablo IV. Its legendary drops, class builds, repeatable monster farming and solo/co-op progression most closely match the familiar loot-focused action RPG formula.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For the deepest theorycrafting
Pick Path of Exile 2 if you are comfortable with early access and want to spend as much time designing a build as fighting. Its incomplete campaign and class roster are important limitations, not footnotes.
For a single-player fantasy adventure
Pick Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. It gives you the broadest exploration-focused substitute, extensive equipment options, flexible class evolution and included original downloadable content.
For purposeful monster rewards
Pick Monster Hunter Wilds for the newer hunt-to-craft direction or Monster Hunter: World for an older, mature package. Neither is a random-loot game; both make progression understandable by tying upgrades to specific creatures and materials.
For the hardest combat
Pick Nioh 2. It is the most demanding option here and the one most likely to make you feel that practice, timing and build knowledge are equally important.

How to move from Dragon’s Dogma 2 without choosing the wrong loop
- Name the reward you actually miss. If it is the surprise of an unknown item, start with Diablo IV. If it is a new weapon earned from a particular monster, start with Monster Hunter.
- Decide whether you want a finished adventure. Amalur and World provide established campaigns. Path of Exile 2 is explicitly still evolving in the cited coverage.
- Choose your preferred source of power. Diablo IV and Path of Exile 2 emphasize item and build combinations; Monster Hunter emphasizes preparation and crafting; Nioh 2 adds a large execution requirement; Amalur emphasizes flexible class growth inside a traditional RPG.
- Check how you want to play. Diablo IV supports solo, local co-op and online co-op, Path of Exile 2 supports up to six-player co-op, and the Monster Hunter games are designed around cooperative hunts as well as solo play. Amalur is the straightforward single-player choice.
- Accept the presentation trade-off. The older games may offer more established content or a broader campaign, but their visuals and combat feel are less current than Dragon’s Dogma 2 or Wilds.
Final recommendation
Start with Diablo IV if your priority is simply a more satisfying loot chase after Dragon’s Dogma 2. Start with Monster Hunter Wilds if what you really want is a reason to keep fighting huge creatures and a clear upgrade path afterward. Choose Path of Exile 2 for build obsession, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning for a broad solo fantasy campaign, Monster Hunter: World for a mature hunting package, and Nioh 2 when difficult melee mastery is the reward as much as the equipment.
