There is no single “best” number curve for every game or voice. Start with a neutral Logitech Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED profile, make small cuts to bass and muddy low mids, and add a restrained presence lift for footsteps and speech. For the microphone, enable BLUE VO!CE in G HUB, set gain with headroom, use moderate cleanup, and place the boom at the corner of your mouth rather than directly in front of your lips.
The settings below are starting points, not factory measurements. Your game mix, listening volume, room noise and voice all change the result, so compare at the same loudness and save separate profiles.

What the Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED can actually adjust
The headset provides a configurable 10-band equalizer and 50 mm PRO-G graphene drivers. Logitech does not publish one universally correct numeric EQ curve; its product documentation presents the EQ as a way to tailor the sound to your game and preference. See the product specifications at Logitech G’s PRO X3 LIGHTSPEED page.

Best gaming EQ: a practical starting curve
Open G HUB, select the PRO X3 LIGHTSPEED, open its equalizer and begin from a neutral or flat profile. The table describes the direction and approximate size of each move. A negative value means a cut from the neutral position; a positive value means a boost. If your G HUB version labels the bands differently, choose the slider covering the same tonal region rather than forcing an exact frequency match.
| Tonal area | Starting move | Why it helps in games | When to undo it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lowest bass | Cut slightly, about 2–3 dB | Reduces the rumble from explosions, vehicles and music that can mask quiet cues. | If the game sounds thin, loses impact or you mainly play cinematic single-player titles. |
| Upper bass and low mids | Make a modest cut, about 1–2 dB | Clears muddiness from overlapping effects and crowded team chat. | If voices lose warmth or footsteps become hollow. |
| Middle bands | Leave near neutral | Preserves the natural balance of weapons, ambience and speech while you evaluate the other changes. | Only alter these bands for a specific recurring problem. |
| Presence region | Add a small lift, about 1–2 dB | Can improve the definition of footsteps, reloads and consonants in voice chat. | If sibilance, hiss or listening fatigue appears. |
| Highest treble | Keep neutral initially | Avoids adding unnecessary hiss and harshness while the presence lift does the detail work. | Use a small cut if cymbals, gunfire or room noise become piercing. |
These ranges are deliberately conservative. Large boosts consume headroom and can cause clipping, while aggressive treble boosts often create fatigue rather than useful detail. If you need a dramatic change, first check the game’s own mix, master volume and dynamic-range option.

How to tune the curve by ear
- Choose a repeatable section of a game: a training range, replay or quiet room followed by a combat sequence.
- Set the headset to a comfortable listening level and write down that level. Compare every change at the same loudness; a louder setting often sounds “better” even when it is not clearer.
- Adjust only one slider by a small amount, then listen for both the intended cue and unwanted side effects.
- Keep surround or spatial processing unchanged while you evaluate EQ. Switching both at once makes it impossible to tell whether the extra width or the EQ produced the change.
- Save the profile only after you can hear the benefit in several scenes, not just one sound effect.
Profiles worth saving in G HUB
If your installed G HUB version supports profile switching, keep separate profiles instead of compromising one curve for every use. Name them by purpose so you can identify the active profile quickly.
Recommended Free Tools
| Profile | EQ approach | Best use | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Competitive FPS | Small low-bass and low-mid cuts with a restrained presence lift; treble near neutral. | Games where positional detail and speech intelligibility matter more than cinematic impact. | Explosions and music may sound less full. |
| General games | Near-neutral bass, only a slight muddiness cut and a tiny presence lift. | Mixed genres and long sessions. | Less separation than the FPS profile in a dense mix. |
| Media or single-player | Neutral or your preferred bass balance; avoid a large presence boost. | Films, music and story games where tonal weight is important. | Quiet competitive cues may be less prominent. |
Switching profiles is optional. If your version of G HUB does not expose automatic game profiles, change them manually and verify the active profile before a match.

BLUE VO!CE: what each microphone control does
BLUE VO!CE is a processing chain in Logitech G HUB. Logitech describes controls for input gain, microphone EQ, noise reduction, gate, compressor, de-esser, de-popper and limiter in its BLUE VO!CE guide. Treat it as a chain: the microphone signal is gained, shaped, cleaned and controlled before it reaches your chat application.
- Input gain: Sets how strongly the microphone signal enters the chain. Raise it only until normal speech is clearly audible, leaving room for loud words.
- Mic EQ: Changes the tonal balance of your voice. A small low-mid adjustment can reduce boxiness; a restrained presence lift can improve intelligibility. Logitech notes that Mic EQ can also help remove clicks and keystrokes.
- Noise reduction: Suppresses steady room or computer noise. Start moderately; heavy processing can make speech sound watery or remove quiet consonants.
- Gate: Closes or reduces the microphone when you are not speaking. Increase it only until keyboard or room noise falls quiet between phrases. Too much gate cuts the first syllable of words.
- Compressor: Narrows the difference between quiet and loud speech. Light compression keeps teammates from chasing your level; excessive compression sounds flat and raises background noise.
- De-esser: Controls sharp “s” and “sh” sounds. Use it only when those sounds are genuinely painful; too much produces a lisp.
- De-popper: Reduces bursts from “p” and “b” sounds. It cannot replace sensible microphone placement.
- Limiter: Catches peaks after other processing. Set gain so the limiter is a safety net, not something working constantly.
Step-by-step microphone setup
- Connect the headset to a PC with its LIGHTSPEED receiver and USB DAC, then open Logitech G HUB. BLUE VO!CE is a PC/G HUB feature and requires the USB DAC; it is not a universal effect stored in the headset for every connection mode.
- In G HUB, select the PRO X3 microphone and enable BLUE VO!CE.
- Speak at your normal Discord or team-chat volume while watching the input meter. Raise input gain until ordinary speech is strong, then back it off enough that your loudest words do not clip.
- Start with moderate noise reduction and a conservative gate. Type on your keyboard and listen to the gaps between sentences. Raise the gate gradually until the noise is quiet, stopping as soon as word beginnings start to disappear.
- Add light compression for consistency. Ask a friend to listen while you speak softly and then emphatically; if both are understandable without pumping or distortion, leave the compressor there.
- Use de-esser and de-popper only when you can identify the problem. If your voice becomes dull, lispy or muffled, reduce those effects before changing EQ.
- Leave the limiter as peak protection and re-check the meter with an intentionally loud phrase.
- In Discord or another chat app, choose the PRO X3 microphone as the input device and make a short recording. Keep one main noise-suppression system active; stacking several suppressors can remove consonants and make speech sound artificial.
Broadcast 2: a useful audition, not a guaranteed answer
Tom’s Guide reported that the untreated microphone sounded clear but thin, while BLUE VO!CE with the Broadcast 2 EQ sounded louder, fuller and richer. The same review heard more background noise with that treatment and noted that additional noise processing could address it. Read the test in context at Tom’s Guide’s Logitech G Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED review.

Select Broadcast 2 as a starting preset, record yourself at your normal distance and compare it with a neutral BLUE VO!CE profile at the same chat level. Keep it if the added body improves intelligibility without making the room louder. If the preset exposes keyboard or fan noise, lower input gain first, then add only enough noise reduction and gate to control the noise. Do not assume a louder preset is a cleaner preset.
Microphone placement that prevents thin or breathy audio
Place the boom at the corner of your mouth, slightly to the side and just off-axis, rather than directly in front of your lips. Logitech’s quick-start guidance says this position keeps speech clear while reducing breathing pickup; the placement diagram and instructions are in the PRO X headset quick-start guide.

Position checklist
- Keep the capsule close enough for a solid voice level, but do not let it touch your lips or clothing.
- Aim the microphone toward the corner of your mouth, not at the center of the airflow.
- Keep the boom position consistent between sessions; moving it changes both level and tone.
- If plosives remain, move a little farther away or farther to the side before adding more de-popper.
- If the voice is thin, check distance and gain before boosting treble. A large high-frequency boost cannot restore the low-frequency body lost by poor placement.
Discord and voice-chat checks
After configuring BLUE VO!CE, make a short local or Discord test recording. Confirm that the application is receiving the processed PRO X3 microphone rather than a laptop microphone or a duplicate virtual input. Speak at the distance you will use in a match, include a loud laugh and type briefly so you can judge both clipping and noise control.
Keep the application’s input level high enough to avoid an extremely weak signal, but do not compensate for low G HUB gain by pushing every downstream control to maximum. If teammates report that the first syllable is missing, reduce the gate. If they hear pumping or room noise rising between words, reduce compression or noise-processing intensity. If they hear harsh “s” sounds, back down the presence EQ before applying more de-essing.
Connection, storage and feature limits
For BLUE VO!CE, use Logitech G HUB on a PC with the LIGHTSPEED receiver and USB DAC. Logitech’s setup guide states that custom EQ can be saved to the USB DAC, while BLUE VO!CE requires G HUB and the USB DAC on PC: connection and setup details. A custom headphone EQ stored on the DAC should not be confused with the full BLUE VO!CE processing chain being available in every mode.
If you switch to a connection mode that does not run G HUB and the USB DAC, expect the headset’s available processing and saved behavior to differ. Test the actual console, mobile or other device you plan to use instead of assuming that a PC profile follows you unchanged.
Hardware facts that affect expectations
| Specification | Published value | How it affects setup |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone format | 48 kHz/16-bit full-bandwidth omnidirectional microphone, as listed by Logitech G in 2026 | Provides a full-bandwidth source for chat processing; it does not eliminate room noise or poor placement. |
| Equalizer | 10 bands, according to Logitech G in 2026 | Allows broad tonal shaping, but a 10-band EQ still cannot correct every room or voice problem. |
| Drivers | 50 mm PRO-G graphene drivers, Logitech G, 2026 | Driver size and material do not determine a universal EQ; tune for the game and your hearing. |
| Battery | 70 hours, Logitech G, 2026 | Long sessions are possible, but take breaks when a bright profile causes fatigue. |
| Wireless range | Up to 30 m (98 ft) under best-case conditions, reported by Tom’s Guide in 2026 | Walls, interference and the receiver’s position can reduce practical range. |
Troubleshooting by symptom
“My voice is thin”
- Move the boom to the mouth corner and slightly off-axis.
- Check that the microphone is close enough and that input gain is not excessively low.
- Reduce an overly strong noise gate or noise reduction.
- Try Broadcast 2 for comparison, then lower its gain if it brings up room noise.
“The microphone picks up my keyboard”
- Move the boom closer to your mouth and farther from the keyboard’s acoustic path.
- Use moderate noise reduction and raise the gate only until the keyboard is quiet between phrases.
- Keep one primary suppression system active rather than stacking several.
- Lower input gain if your speech is already loud enough; excessive gain makes every background sound easier to hear.
“Words are being cut off”
- Lower the gate threshold or intensity.
- Reduce aggressive noise reduction.
- Check that the boom has not moved too far away since the last session.
“My voice is harsh, lispy or fatiguing”
- Remove the presence boost or reduce the highest treble band.
- Use less de-esser if the lisp appeared after processing.
- Compare at equal loudness; a louder preset often seems clearer for a few seconds.
“The game sounds muddy”
- Apply a small low-bass cut, then a modest low-mid cut.
- Keep the presence lift small and leave the rest near neutral.
- Check the game’s own dynamic-range and audio mix settings before making larger headset changes.
“I hear clipping or distortion”
- Lower input gain or any large EQ boost.
- Leave headroom for loud words and let the limiter catch occasional peaks rather than constant overload.
- Verify that the chat application is not applying a second gain boost.
A repeatable final check
- Listen to a familiar game scene with the neutral profile.
- Apply the small bass, low-mid and presence changes one at a time.
- Compare at identical volume with surround processing unchanged.
- Record 20–30 seconds of normal speech, a loud phrase and keyboard activity.
- Ask one listener whether speech is intelligible, whether the room is distracting and whether any consonants sound sharp.
- Save the profile with a clear name, and keep a neutral fallback for games or media that sound worse with competitive tuning.
The dependable setup is therefore a restrained gaming EQ plus carefully staged BLUE VO!CE processing, not a dramatic preset. Use Broadcast 2 as an audition, place the boom correctly, and make every change small enough that you can identify its effect.
