There is no single “realistic” Logitech G29 profile that transfers perfectly between games. For a modern Logitech setup, leave the wheel software at its defaults and tune force feedback in each simulator. iRacing’s documented starting point is 20% strength and 0% damping; after driving several laps, use its Auto function to set the strongest level that avoids clipping. Gran Turismo 7 provides Force Feedback Max. Torque and Force Feedback Sensitivity, but its manual does not prescribe one ideal numeric pair for every G29 owner. Logitech lists the G29 as compatible with Gran Turismo 7, Assetto Corsa Competizione and F1 25, yet compatibility does not create a shared setting profile.
The reliable G29 baseline
Start with the G29’s wheel software at its default values. On a current Logitech setup using G HUB, the important adjustments should normally be made in the game rather than by stacking separate effects in the driver. Calibrate the wheel in the game whenever that option exists, then change one force-feedback control at a time.

| Game or source | Setting or specification | What the evidence establishes |
|---|---|---|
| iRacing | 20% strength; 0% damping | Documented starting point in iRacing’s Logitech wheel support article, modified September 9, 2025; strength can then be adjusted to preference. |
| iRacing | Linear mode off | iRacing says this can make lower-end gear-driven wheels such as the G29 feel livelier. It is an iRacing-specific recommendation, not a universal rule. |
| Gran Turismo 7 | Force Feedback Max. Torque; Force Feedback Sensitivity | These are the controls identified by the official manual. The manual does not provide one universally optimal G29 numeric combination. |
| iRacing’s listed G29 torque | 2.2 Nm | Value listed by iRacing in 2025. |
| Logitech G product specification | 2.3 Nm | System specification shown on Logitech’s current product page accessed in 2026. It is a differently attributed nominal figure, not a reconciled measurement with iRacing’s number. |
Use that baseline as a controlled starting point, not as a promise that every car, track, platform or driving style will feel the same. A road car, a high-downforce race car and a car with heavy steering can all produce different forces even when the game settings are unchanged.

Force feedback is not simply a measure of how heavy the steering wheel feels. A useful profile preserves changes in load: the initial resistance as the front tires take a set, the increasing effort in a loaded corner and the release as the car loses grip or straightens. Excessive weight can make the wheel tiring while hiding those transitions.

Strength controls the available force
Strength determines how strongly the game commands the wheel. Raising it can make a G29 feel more substantial, but it can also push the wheel beyond its available output. When that happens, different high-force signals are compressed into the same maximum output.
Damping changes resistance and detail
Damping adds resistance to movement. A small amount may suit a particular preference, but too much can make the wheel feel slow or mask fine texture. iRacing’s documented G29 starting point therefore uses 0% damping; that is a starting recommendation for iRacing, not proof that every title should use zero damping.
Clipping removes information
iRacing explains clipping as the simulator asking for more force than the wheel can deliver. Once the output is at its limit, an additional increase in the simulated force cannot produce a corresponding increase at the rim. The result is a wheel that may feel heavy but less informative, especially through the largest cornering loads.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutePrepare the G29 before changing numbers
- Connect the wheel directly and let the operating system recognize it. Confirm that steering, throttle and brake inputs move correctly before opening the game.
- Leave the Logitech wheel software at its defaults. This follows iRacing’s guidance for newer Logitech wheels, including the G29. Avoid creating a second layer of centering spring, damping or strength while you are establishing a baseline.
- Select the correct game and platform profile. A setting that makes sense on a console version may not use the same labels or ranges on PC.
- Run the game’s own calibration. Set the steering center and rotation range using the title’s calibration process when offered, then verify that the wheel reaches full lock in both directions and that the pedals reach their full travel.
- Save a baseline before experimenting. Record the original values or use a profile slot so that you can return to a known state after a change makes the wheel worse.
Do not diagnose force feedback from a single car or corner. Drive enough of a session to encounter braking, a steady loaded corner, a change of direction and a low-grip moment. Those situations reveal different problems.
iRacing: the documented G29 procedure
1. Start with the official baseline
In iRacing’s force-feedback controls, enable force feedback and begin at 20% strength and 0% damping. iRacing’s Logitech support article, modified September 9, 2025, says that the strength may be adjusted to taste. The same article states of newer Logitech wheels: “The newer G29, G920 and G930’s for example – we would recommend leaving the defaults.”

2. Drive before judging the level
Use a familiar car and complete several representative laps. Pay attention to whether the wheel communicates the build-up and release of cornering load, rather than judging it only by how hard it pulls on a straight. If the wheel is constantly at its maximum in major corners, reducing strength can restore distinctions between strong and very strong events.
3. Use Auto to avoid clipping
iRacing’s Auto function can select the highest force level that does not cause clipping after the driver has completed several laps. Let the simulator gather that driving data, then apply the suggested value. You can also watch the force meter while driving; repeated saturation is a reason to lower the level rather than increase it.
4. Decide whether to use linear mode
iRacing says linear mode can remain off to boost smaller forces and make lower-end gear-driven wheels such as the G29 feel livelier. Because this advice is specific to iRacing’s force model and the G29’s hardware, do not copy the same instruction automatically into another title. Compare the feel of subtle load changes and keep the option that gives you clearer information without making the center artificially light or noisy.
5. Make only one change at a time
After Auto has established a force level, adjust strength in small steps if the wheel still feels too light or too heavy. Leave damping unchanged while evaluating strength. If both controls are changed together, you cannot tell whether the change came from force amplitude or added resistance.
Gran Turismo 7: tune the two controls the manual identifies
Gran Turismo 7’s manual names Force Feedback Max. Torque and Force Feedback Sensitivity as the wheel-feedback controls. Max. Torque changes the maximum torque and the response under hard cornering. Sensitivity affects resistance as steering begins.

Set a neutral baseline
Because the manual does not publish a universal G29 numeric pair, begin with the game’s current default values after calibrating the wheel. This avoids importing an unverified number from a different wheel, platform or edition.
Recommended Free Tools
Adjust Max. Torque for cornering load
If the wheel reaches a uniform heavy limit in many hard corners, reduce Max. Torque and reassess the detail you can feel as the car loads up. If the steering communicates the shape of a corner but feels consistently too light, increase it gradually. The aim is not the heaviest possible rim; it is enough range to distinguish changes in load.
Adjust Sensitivity for the initial turn
Use Sensitivity to address the resistance as steering begins. A change here should be evaluated in a slow corner and in a quick direction change. If the wheel becomes immediately heavy but gives little additional information as the corner develops, return toward the previous value and change Max. Torque instead.
Keep the test consistent
Use the same car, track and conditions while comparing values. Switching cars during the tuning process changes the steering forces you are trying to judge. Once a pair feels appropriate, save it as your GT7 baseline and create separate profiles only when a particular car or driving preference genuinely requires one.
Assetto Corsa Competizione and F1 25
Logitech lists the G29 as compatible with Assetto Corsa Competizione and F1 25, among other racing games. The available official material does not establish a current, exact G29 numeric force-feedback recipe for either title. That distinction matters: a compatibility listing confirms that the wheel can be used, but it does not validate a preset made for a different wheel or an older game version.

A safe tuning method when no official G29 numbers are published
- Start with the game’s default force-feedback values and complete its steering and pedal calibration.
- Confirm that the wheel is recognized as a G29 rather than as a generic controller.
- Drive a consistent test route with one car before changing values.
- Change the in-game strength control first, using small increments and checking whether strong corners become indistinguishable at the top of the range.
- Change damping or filtering only after strength is giving you a usable range of forces.
- Do not relabel settings made for a direct-drive or other Pro wheel as G29 settings; the available torque and gear-driven mechanism are different.
For these games, the exact control names, ranges and platform behavior can vary. Use the controls shown by your edition and avoid assuming that an FFB number from iRacing or GT7 has the same meaning in another simulator.
Game menu or wheel software: where each adjustment belongs
| Adjustment | Preferred location for the baseline | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Overall force level | In-game force-feedback menu | The game knows which car, tire model and steering event it is sending to the wheel. |
| Game-specific clipping or automatic force level | The simulator’s own tool, where available | iRacing’s Auto function uses several laps to select a non-clipping level. |
| Steering center and pedal travel | In-game calibration | Calibration aligns the game’s input range with the physical wheel and pedals. |
| Driver-level effects | Leave at the manufacturer default while tuning | Changing both layers at once makes it difficult to identify the source of a weak, heavy or dull response. |
This separation also makes profiles portable. The G29 can be compatible with several games while each title interprets strength, damping and sensitivity differently.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the wheel feels weak
The game level is too low
A low in-game strength value can make the wheel appear lifeless even when the hardware is working correctly. In iRacing, begin with the documented 20% value, drive enough laps for Auto to work and then adjust from that result. In other games, raise the game’s strength gradually while checking whether cornering details remain distinct.
Driver and game mappings disagree
On PC, Logitech advises installing Logitech Gaming Software and checking the mappings in both the game and Logitech software where applicable when force feedback is missing. Treat that as a troubleshooting step for absent feedback, not as a reason to add extra effects after force feedback is already operating.
The wrong platform or profile is selected
Confirm that the game supports the G29 on your platform and that the selected controller profile matches the wheel. A console and PC release can expose different controls, and a compatibility statement does not guarantee identical menus across editions.

Calibration is incomplete
If the wheel center, rotation range or pedal endpoints are wrong, the force can feel inconsistent even though the strength value is reasonable. Re-run the title’s calibration and test the full input travel before changing force levels again.
Why the wheel clips or feels heavy but vague
Lower strength when the output saturates
Clipping is not fixed by adding damping. If the simulator is requesting more force than the G29 can deliver, reduce strength until the largest events no longer flatten into one undifferentiated maximum. In iRacing, Auto is the most direct way to make this adjustment after several laps.
Do not confuse weight with detail
A heavier steering rim can feel impressive in a stationary test but provide less information while driving if it spends too much time at its limit. Evaluate the wheel while entering, holding and exiting a corner. You should be able to sense the force changing, not merely feel a constant pull.

Reduce added resistance when small forces disappear
If center detail and subtle load changes are difficult to feel, inspect damping and other resistance effects before raising strength. iRacing’s 0% damping starting point is intended to keep the G29’s baseline response from being unnecessarily restrained.
A repeatable tuning checklist
- Reset the Logitech software to its default profile.
- Calibrate steering and pedals in the game.
- Choose one car, one track and repeatable conditions.
- Record the starting values before making changes.
- Set overall strength before damping, filtering or sensitivity.
- Test a slow corner, a sustained loaded corner, a direction change and a heavy braking zone.
- Watch for clipping or a force meter when the game provides one.
- Lower force if strong events become indistinguishable.
- Save a profile only after the wheel remains informative across more than one type of corner.
- Keep separate profiles for separate games instead of copying numbers between titles.
How to interpret the torque figures
Two official sources give different nominal figures for the G29: iRacing lists 2.2 Nm in its 2025 support material, while Logitech’s current product page, accessed in 2026, lists a 2.3 Nm system specification. Those figures should be kept with their respective attributions rather than presented as a single reconciled laboratory measurement. Neither number tells you which in-game strength value will feel best, because the simulator’s force scale, car, platform and clipping behavior also matter.
Choosing settings by symptom
| What you feel | First adjustment | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Strong corners all feel equally maxed out | Reduce in-game strength; in iRacing, run Auto after several laps. | Adding damping to compensate for clipping. |
| The wheel is heavy but small changes are hidden | Check damping and lower excess resistance. | Judging realism by rim weight alone. |
| The wheel feels weak everywhere | Verify calibration, profile selection and in-game strength. | Changing driver and game effects simultaneously. |
| No force feedback at all on PC | Check Logitech Gaming Software and game/software mappings as Logitech recommends. | Assuming a compatible game will configure every mapping automatically. |
| One game feels right and another does not | Create a separate profile and tune the second game independently. | Copying the first game’s numbers without checking how its controls are defined. |
What “best” means for a G29
The best setting is the one that leaves enough headroom for the strongest cornering events while preserving changes in load that help you drive. iRacing explicitly states that “Force feedback levels are highly based on personal preference” in its Controller Setup and Calibration article, modified September 9, 2025. That statement is consistent with the practical limitation of a gear-driven wheel: a level that feels comfortable for one driver, car and track can clip or feel too light for another.
Use the documented iRacing baseline where it applies, use GT7’s Max. Torque and Sensitivity controls rather than an invented universal pair, and treat ACC and F1 25 as separate tuning jobs because no current official G29 numeric recipe is established for them. The result should be a wheel that communicates changing forces clearly, not one that is simply set to the highest available strength.
