Your best setup depends on whether you need nationally televised games, your local team’s in-market broadcasts, or out-of-market games. Team rights, your ZIP code, network exclusives and blackout rules all matter.
Before subscribing, look up the specific matchup on MLB.com/Watch, check your club’s local broadcast guide, and enter your home ZIP code in the provider’s channel tool. The service that works for a fan in one market may miss a local affiliate or regional sports network in another.

Start with the kind of MLB games you want
MLB viewing breaks into three different problems. A national package can show a marquee matchup but still miss your local team’s ordinary games. MLB.TV can show most regular-season games played outside your home territory but can be blacked out locally. A team’s direct-to-consumer (DTC) service can solve local access without providing every national exclusive.

Nationally televised and exclusive games
National games are assigned to a network or streaming platform for the entire country, subject to the service’s rights and your subscription. During the 2026 season, MLB’s national partners include Netflix, NBC and Peacock, Apple TV, FOX and FS1, TBS, and ESPN. Some games are exclusive to one platform, so a conventional live-TV bundle is not automatically enough.

Your local team’s regular-season games
Local broadcasts are determined by the club’s home territory. MLB’s 2026 club guide lists each team’s regional sports network or broadcast outlet and its in-market DTC option. All 30 clubs have a DTC option, and 14 teams added a new option during the offseason. The relevant service depends on where you live, not simply which team you follow.
Out-of-market games
If you live outside a team’s home territory, MLB.TV is the primary product to investigate. It is designed for out-of-market regular-season viewing, but it does not eliminate geographic blackouts. Your physical location, including the IP address associated with your connection, can determine whether a game is unavailable.
What the 2026 national MLB schedule means for streaming
The recurring 2026 pattern distributes national games across several services:

- Saturday: FOX or FS1 carries scheduled Saturday games.
- Sunday night: NBC and Peacock carry Sunday night games.
- Tuesday: TBS carries scheduled Tuesday coverage.
- Selected games: ESPN has additional games, while Netflix has selected event coverage.
These are recurring programming patterns, not a guarantee that every Friday, Saturday or Sunday game is available on every tier of every provider. The individual matchup, regional availability and subscription package control access. Use the game-by-game listing on MLB.com/Watch immediately before watching rather than assuming a bundle includes the entire national schedule.
The 2026–2028 rights arrangement also gives ESPN a 30-game national package and the ability to stream more than 150 out-of-market games, described as one per day. NBCUniversal has Sunday Night Baseball, Sunday Leadoff and all Wild Card Series rights. Rights are season-specific; do not assume this distribution will remain unchanged in later years.

How the major services fit MLB viewing needs
| Service | Documented MLB access | Best fit | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hulu + Live TV | Lists MLB Network, ABC, FOX, ESPN, FS1, TBS, NBC and select regional sports networks. | Households wanting a broad national-channel bundle plus any supported local or regional channels. | Regional sports networks are determined by home ZIP code. Local affiliates depend on physical location, and regional restrictions and blackouts still apply. |
| Fubo | Provides a ZIP-code Game Finder and states that all non-nationally televised out-of-market games are available through MLB.TV. | Fans who want to check a market-specific lineup and combine live channels with MLB.TV access. | The cited MLB information does not establish that every national MLB network is included. Confirm the game finder and plan-specific channel list for each network you need. |
| DIRECTV | CHOICE and higher packages include MLB Network, FOX, FS1, TBS, ESPN, NBC and local regional sports networks where available. MySports is described as a lower-cost option for key MLB channels with ESPN Unlimited. | Viewers who need a broad national lineup and have compatible local or regional availability. | Package and market restrictions apply. Peacock, FOX One or HBO Max may require separate subscriptions for games carried there. MLB EXTRA INNINGS is satellite-only. |
| MLB.TV | Out-of-market regular-season coverage, with MLB Network access described on MLB’s 2026 subscription page. | Fans following teams outside their home market or watching many out-of-market games. | Geographic blackouts apply. Select postseason games require authentication through a participating pay-TV provider, and Wild Card games on NBC or Peacock are not live through MLB.TV. |
None of these services is documented as a universal solution. A channel may appear in a provider’s national lineup but be unavailable in your ZIP code, while an exclusive game may require a separate streaming subscription. Treat the table as a starting point, not a substitute for checking a specific matchup.
Choosing a setup by viewer type
If you mainly follow your local team
- Open MLB’s 2026 club guide and identify your team’s regional sports network, broadcast outlet and in-market DTC service.
- Enter your home ZIP code on each candidate provider’s channel-availability page.
- Check whether the team’s ordinary games are on the listed outlet or are subject to a local blackout on MLB.TV.
- Check national exclusives separately. A local DTC subscription may not include games assigned to Apple TV, Peacock, Netflix, FOX, FS1, TBS or ESPN.
Some clubs also have over-the-air (OTA) games. Those broadcasts may be received with an indoor TV antenna if your location has a usable signal. An antenna does not provide subscription-only games, streaming apps or blackout relief.
If you follow a team outside your home market
Start with MLB.TV and verify the team’s blackout territory before paying. Out-of-market status is based on where you are watching, not where you purchased the subscription or where your favorite team is located. A game can be available one day and blacked out when you travel into the club’s home territory.
Then add only the national services needed for games that are not part of MLB.TV’s regular-season out-of-market coverage. The 2026 schedule’s Apple TV, Peacock, Netflix, FOX/FS1, TBS and ESPN assignments make a single-service assumption risky.
If you watch whichever game is on tonight
A broad live-TV bundle can cover many FOX, FS1, TBS, ESPN, NBC and local-affiliate broadcasts, but you still need to verify the package and market. Fubo’s ZIP-code Game Finder, Hulu + Live TV’s ZIP-based lineup and DIRECTV’s package checker are useful starting points. Use MLB.com/Watch to identify the exact network first, then confirm that network in your chosen plan.

If you want the playoffs
Postseason access follows a different set of rights. MLB’s postseason guidance says eligible U.S. MLB.TV subscribers need a participating pay-TV provider carrying FOX or TBS to authenticate select live postseason games. Wild Card games carried by NBC or Peacock are not available live through MLB.TV. Therefore, an MLB.TV subscription alone should not be treated as a complete postseason pass.
Can I watch MLB games without cable?
Yes, but “without cable” does not mean “with one subscription.” You can combine a team’s in-market DTC service, MLB.TV for eligible out-of-market games, standalone access to an exclusive platform, or an OTA antenna for games broadcast locally. The correct combination depends on the team, location and networks on the schedule.
For example, a fan may need a local team DTC service for ordinary in-market games, MLB.TV for a second team outside the market, and a separate platform for a Friday or Sunday exclusive. Another fan may receive several local and national games through a live-TV service and need MLB.TV only when traveling or following an out-of-market club.
How to check “What MLB games are on tonight?”
- Open the MLB schedule or MLB.com/Watch. Set the date and your location if the page requests it.
- Identify the game’s designation. Note whether it is local, national, out-of-market, or exclusive to a named streaming platform.
- Check your blackout status. A game listed for MLB.TV may be unavailable at your current physical location.
- Confirm the provider tier. Verify the exact plan, not just the provider name. Network access can vary by package.
- Check local affiliates and regional networks by ZIP code. A national channel list does not prove that your local station or RSN is included.
- Check authentication requirements. For select postseason games, MLB.TV may require credentials from a participating pay-TV provider.
Repeat this process when a game’s listing changes. MLB’s national schedule and provider lineups can be updated, and rights information for a later season may differ from 2026.
MLB.TV blackouts and common failure points
The game is listed but unavailable
That usually indicates a geographic blackout. MLB says blackout decisions can use physical-location signals such as your IP address. Confirm that your account location, device location and current network are accurate. A VPN or unusual network route can produce a location mismatch, but changing location signals does not create rights to a blacked-out game.

You expected local games from MLB.TV
MLB.TV is an out-of-market product. If the team is in your home territory, its regular-season games may be blacked out even when you pay for MLB.TV. Use the club’s in-market DTC service or the listed local broadcaster instead.
You expected every playoff game
Postseason rights are not identical to regular-season out-of-market rights. Eligible U.S. subscribers may need to authenticate through a participating provider for select live games on FOX or TBS, and Wild Card games on NBC or Peacock are not live on MLB.TV.
You missed the live window
MLB.TV subscribers can access live audio and full-game archives 90 minutes after the game, according to MLB’s postseason help guidance. This is useful for delayed viewing but does not make a blacked-out live stream available in real time.

Hulu + Live TV
The documented lineup is broad, including MLB Network and several national broadcast networks, but regional sports network availability is market-specific. Enter your home ZIP code before assuming that your local team’s RSN or affiliate is included. Physical location and blackout rules continue to apply even when the channel appears in the service’s general lineup.

Fubo
Fubo’s MLB help information directs viewers to a ZIP-code Game Finder and identifies MLB.TV as the route for non-nationally televised out-of-market games. That is helpful for checking a specific market, but it is not proof that every national MLB partner is carried. Compare the game’s listed network with the channel list for the exact plan you would purchase.

DIRECTV
CHOICE and higher packages are documented as including MLB Network, FOX, FS1, TBS, ESPN and NBC, along with local RSNs where available. MySports is presented as a lower-cost way to obtain key MLB channels with ESPN Unlimited. Games on Peacock, FOX One or HBO Max may still require separate subscriptions, and MLB EXTRA INNINGS is limited to satellite service.
MLB.TV
MLB.TV is the clearest choice for eligible out-of-market regular-season games, not for local coverage or every national event. Blackouts are location-based. The 2026 subscription information also describes MLB Network access, but that does not remove the need to check the individual game listing and blackout map.
Pricing, package tiers and what to verify before subscribing
Official information available for these services does not establish a current, apples-to-apples price ranking. Promotional rates, add-ons, regional sports fees, taxes, package changes and separate subscriptions can change the total cost. Compare the recurring price and the first-year price separately if a provider advertises an introductory offer.
Before checkout, verify:
- The plan tier that includes the required network.
- Your local affiliate and regional sports network availability by ZIP code.
- Whether MLB.TV is included, discounted or sold separately.
- Whether an exclusive platform such as Peacock, Apple TV or Netflix is required for the game you care about.
- Whether postseason authentication requires a participating pay-TV provider.
- Whether a satellite-only package meets your equipment and location needs.
- Any blackout, simultaneous-stream or device restrictions shown in the current terms.
Do not choose a service solely because its headline channel list looks larger. A missing local station or unavailable RSN can matter more than several national channels you never watch.
Using an indoor antenna for local MLB broadcasts
An indoor TV antenna can be a practical supplement when your club’s guide lists OTA games and your home receives the station’s signal. Reception depends on distance, building materials, terrain and antenna placement. The antenna does not unlock regional sports networks, subscription streaming services, national exclusives or MLB.TV blackouts.
Search for an “indoor TV antenna” only after confirming that the relevant games are actually broadcast over the air in your market. Treat it as a way to receive eligible local broadcasts, not as a replacement for a complete MLB streaming plan.
A practical decision checklist for 2026
- Team: Which club or clubs do you follow?
- Location: What is your home ZIP code, and will you watch while traveling?
- Game type: Are you primarily watching local, out-of-market, national or postseason games?
- Networks: Which networks appear most often on your team’s schedule?
- Exclusives: Are you willing to maintain a separate subscription for platform-exclusive games?
- Blackouts: Have you checked MLB.TV’s restrictions for your location?
- Local reception: Does your club have OTA games that you can receive with an antenna?
- Budget: Have you added the cost of every required service rather than comparing base prices?
The most reliable workflow is schedule first, location second, provider third: identify the game on MLB.com/Watch, verify the local or out-of-market status, then confirm the exact plan and ZIP-code lineup. Recheck those details during the season because rights, packages and availability can change.

Choose based on the games you actually watch, not on a universal “best” label. A local-team fan should begin with the club’s 2026 DTC or broadcast option; an out-of-market fan should investigate MLB.TV and its blackout map; a national-game viewer should verify FOX, FS1, TBS, ESPN, NBC, Peacock, Apple TV and Netflix coverage game by game. Many fans will need a combination, and MLB.com/Watch plus a ZIP-code channel check are the fastest ways to avoid paying for a service that misses the games that matter.
