Short answer: choose Dominion Biosyn Expansion if you want the most substantial new gameplay, including a campaign and Chaos Theory scenario. Pick Dominion Malta Expansion for a second story-scale experience. For animal-focused purchases, match the pack to your favorite class: Prehistoric Marine Species Pack for ocean life, Feathered Species Pack for feathered and flying animals, Cretaceous Predator Pack for predators, and Secret Species Pack for hybrids. The other packs are narrower roster or cosmetic additions rather than new campaign systems.
There are 11 paid add-ons in Steam’s current catalog, covering campaign expansions, themed species packs and the separate Deluxe Edition content. This guide explains exactly what each adds, who benefits, what it does not add, and the safest order to buy them.

Which DLC changes the game most?
Dominion Biosyn Expansion: the strongest first purchase
Biosyn is the largest campaign-oriented option. Steam describes a new campaign inspired by events from Jurassic World Dominion, all-new prehistoric species, feathered dinosaurs and a new Chaos Theory scenario. That combination matters because it adds structured objectives and a scenario designed around the expansion’s content, rather than only adding animals to existing sandbox, challenge or campaign play.
Choose Biosyn first if you have completed the base game’s story and want a reason to play through guided objectives again. It also suits players who want feathered animals but prefer to receive them alongside a substantial narrative package. The available description does not state an animal count, so treat “all-new prehistoric species” as a qualitative promise rather than a fixed number.
Dominion Malta Expansion: a second story-scale option
Malta is set before the events of Jurassic World Dominion. Its central setup sends you to the Mediterranean to manage multiple dinosaur facilities across three locations. The multi-site structure is the key distinction: progression is built around operating more than one facility in a connected setting instead of simply dropping a few species into every existing mode.

The catalog description does not specify an animal total, building count or separate cosmetics list, so those should not be used as buying assumptions.
How the two expansions compare
| Decision point | Dominion Biosyn | Dominion Malta |
|---|---|---|
| Primary format | New campaign plus Chaos Theory scenario | Story-scale management across three Mediterranean locations |
| Franchise connection | Inspired by events from Jurassic World Dominion | Set before Jurassic World Dominion |
| Animal emphasis | New prehistoric species, including feathered dinosaurs | New content associated with the Malta scenario; a count is not stated |
| Best for | Players wanting the most explicit new missions and scenario structure | Players wanting another multi-facility, story-led management experience |
What every species-focused pack adds
Park Managers’ Collection Pack
This is the broadest mixed-roster choice. Steam describes iconic species spanning the ocean, sky and very small land animals. That spread makes it more versatile than a single-theme pack: it can fill several types of enclosure or habitat in one purchase. Choose it when you want variety across your park and do not have a single preferred animal class.
It is still primarily a roster pack. The catalog description does not identify a new campaign or Chaos Theory scenario, so do not buy it expecting the mission depth of Biosyn or Malta.
Secret Species Pack
Secret Species adds four bioengineered hybrid dinosaurs. It is the focused choice for players who enjoy engineered creatures and want a deliberately unusual roster rather than another period-based collection. The pack’s identity is the hybrid concept itself; it is not presented as a campaign expansion.

Cretaceous Predator Pack
This pack contains four new predators. It is the cleanest recommendation for a park built around dangerous carnivores, predator exhibits or a more intimidating species lineup. Because its stated addition is four animals, with no campaign or facility-management feature listed, its value depends on how often you use predator habitats.
Prehistoric Marine Species Pack
Prehistoric Marine Species Pack adds four marine species. Select it when your park’s aquatic viewing areas are the part you most want to expand. It is the dedicated ocean option in the catalog, whereas the Park Managers’ Collection is a mixed pack that only includes marine life as one of several categories.

With this offbeat approximation of a family at your side, there will be tears and laughter as you set about tearing into the cosmos together. Whatever's waiting around the next corner, you know it's going to be a blast.
Feathered Species Pack
Feathered Species Pack provides three land-dwelling dinosaurs and one flying reptile. That combination is useful if you want both feathered terrestrial exhibits and an aerial animal in the same purchase. It overlaps thematically with the feathered content associated with Biosyn, but it does not carry Biosyn’s campaign and Chaos Theory additions.
Late Cretaceous Pack
Late Cretaceous Pack adds four prehistoric species tied to a Late Cretaceous theme. It is aimed at era completionists and players designing a period-specific roster. Choose it when the time period is more important to you than animal class, because the pack is defined by its era rather than by a predator, marine or flying specialization.
Early Cretaceous Pack
Early Cretaceous Pack is the corresponding era-focused collection for an earlier part of the Cretaceous. The catalog calls it a Cretaceous-era animal collection but does not provide a species count in the supplied listing. It is therefore best treated as a thematic completion purchase rather than a guaranteed number-of-animals bargain.
Camp Cretaceous Dinosaur Pack
This pack contains species associated with the Camp Cretaceous animated series. It is the obvious choice for viewers who want their game roster to reflect that show. The listing does not describe a new campaign or scenario, so its franchise value comes from the species tie-in rather than additional story missions.
What is in the Deluxe Edition Content?
The separate Deluxe Edition Content includes five prehistoric animals, six building signs and three vehicle skins. Frontier confirms that owners of the Standard Edition can buy this content separately through their platform store. The five animals comprise one dinosaur, one flying reptile and one marine reptile.
This add-on is primarily a launch-bonus and cosmetics package. It does not replace either story expansion, and it is not required to access the base game’s core campaign, sandbox or other later DLC. Buy it if the specific animals, signs or vehicle looks matter to your park; skip it if you only want new missions or a specialized modern roster.

If you want new missions
- Start with Dominion Biosyn Expansion for its explicitly described campaign and Chaos Theory scenario.
- Add Dominion Malta Expansion when you want another story-scale experience built around three Mediterranean facilities.
- Choose species packs afterward to customize the animals available in those scenarios and in your sandbox parks.
If you care about one animal class
| Your priority | Recommended pack | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Marine animals | Prehistoric Marine Species Pack | Four new marine species in a dedicated aquatic pack |
| Flying and feathered animals | Feathered Species Pack | Three land dinosaurs plus one flying reptile |
| Predators | Cretaceous Predator Pack | Four new predators |
| Hybrids | Secret Species Pack | Four bioengineered hybrid dinosaurs |
| Mixed habitats | Park Managers’ Collection Pack | Animals spanning ocean, sky and very small land species |
If you build by geological era
Pick Early Cretaceous Pack for an earlier-Cretaceous focus and Late Cretaceous Pack for a later-Cretaceous focus. The catalog confirms four species for the Late Cretaceous pack but does not state a number for the Early Cretaceous pack, so era preference—not an assumed equal animal count—should drive the decision.
If a film or series connection matters most
- Dominion Biosyn: campaign inspired by Jurassic World Dominion.
- Dominion Malta: story set before Jurassic World Dominion, with Mediterranean facilities.
- Camp Cretaceous Dinosaur Pack: species associated with the animated series.
If you want the widest variety in one roster purchase
Park Managers’ Collection Pack has the broadest stated mix of animal categories. It is a better fit than buying a highly specialized predator, marine or hybrid pack when you regularly rotate between different exhibit types.

There is no required sequence for owning the add-ons, so use this order only as a decision aid:
Rank #3
- Chaos Theory mode lets you play through key moments of your favorite films - with a twist.
- Immerse yourself in a compelling and original Jurassic World narrative set after the Earth-shattering events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
- Take control with deeper management tools and creative options; Construct and customize new buildings and flex your managerial muscle across never-before-seen locations ranging from dense forests to rocky deserts.
- Buy Biosyn first if you want the biggest change to how you play, not just more species.
- Buy Malta second if you finish Biosyn and still want story-led facility management.
- Buy one specialist species pack that matches the animals you actually use most: Marine, Feathered, Predator or Secret Species.
- Add Park Managers’ Collection when you want a cross-category roster instead of another narrow theme.
- Finish an era or franchise collection with Early Cretaceous, Late Cretaceous, Camp Cretaceous or Deluxe content according to your collection goal.
This sequence avoids paying for several roster packs before you know whether you value new scenarios or additional animals more.

Platform, edition and purchase details
Where the base game is available
Jurassic World Evolution 2 launched on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 9 November 2021. Its launch suggested retail price was £49.99, $59.99 or €59.99. Those are launch figures, not a guarantee of the current base-game price.
DLC is tied to your platform
Purchase each add-on through the same platform family as your base game. A PC purchase does not automatically provide a console license, and a PlayStation or Xbox purchase should not be assumed to transfer to another platform. Check the store page for the exact edition and region before paying.
Buying the base game and Deluxe content together
If you do not own the game, a physical PS5 or Xbox copy can be a practical starting point; verify the live listing’s region and edition before purchase. If you already own the Standard Edition, Frontier states that the five-animal, six-sign and three-skin Deluxe content is sold separately through the relevant platform store.
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Expecting every pack to add a campaign
Only Biosyn and Malta are described as the meaningful campaign-scale expansions. The other add-ons are primarily roster or cosmetic purchases. Read the product type before buying if mission content is your main reason for expanding the game.
Choosing by animal count alone
Counts are not stated uniformly. Four animals are explicitly listed for Late Cretaceous, Prehistoric Marine, Cretaceous Predator and Secret Species; Feathered lists three land dinosaurs and one flying reptile; Deluxe lists five animals plus signs and skins. Other catalog descriptions use broader wording. Do not infer an unstated number for Early Cretaceous, Camp Cretaceous, Park Managers’ Collection, Biosyn or Malta.
Assuming a franchise tie-in means a new story
A film or series connection can describe the setting or species without adding a campaign. Biosyn and Malta explicitly describe story content; Camp Cretaceous is described as a species association. Treat those as different types of value.
Buying on the wrong storefront
Because DLC licenses are platform-specific, confirm that the store account, platform and base-game edition match before checkout. This is especially important when comparing a physical console copy with a digital add-on.
