If you want to livestream on YouTube from a phone without buying a broadcast system, start by deciding whether you need a phone encoder, a relay, or a bonded hardware setup. They are different kinds of tools: a relay is not a phone app, and a premium bonded system is not a like-for-like replacement for one. For Indian creators on a budget, staying phone-first is usually the least complicated route; consider a relay or specialist hardware only when your workflow needs it.
First, identify what you need to replace
IRL Pro is listed on Google Play as an Android streaming app for Twitch, YouTube, and other services. The listing says it was updated on 18 September 2024; check the live listing for current availability and features before choosing it.

Alternatives fall into three categories. An app encodes and sends video from your phone. A relay receives an encoder’s feed and forwards it or helps protect the broadcast path. A bonded hardware system combines streaming equipment and connectivity for field use. Each solves a different problem, so compare like with like.
| Option | What it does | Budget question | What to compare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile app | Encodes and sends a stream from a phone | Is the app itself free, and does it cover what you need? | Android or iOS support, destinations, protocols, overlays, encoder settings, and connection bonding |
| Relay or server | Receives a phone encoder feed and forwards it or protects the broadcast path | What recurring fee, bandwidth limits, and separate encoder or software are required? | SRT, SRTLA, or RTMP; data caps; bitrate and resolution limits; server region; and drop protection |
| Bonded hardware system | Combines streaming hardware and connectivity for a managed field setup | Is the reliability gain worth the equipment and subscription cost? | Upfront and recurring costs, supported networks, weight, battery, and setup |
Budget-friendly alternatives and routes
Keep the phone-first setup
If Android phone broadcasting meets your needs, you may not need a relay or dedicated hardware. IRL Pro’s Google Play listing describes streaming to YouTube and other services, but the available evidence does not establish a dependable current India-specific price or a feature-by-feature comparison with other apps. Check official app listings for current availability, supported destinations, and pricing in your storefront.
#1 Best Overall
- 【Hardware H.265/H.264 Encoding at 1080P60】Dedicated hardware encoder delivers broadcast-quality 1080P60 streams with H.265/H.264 compression. Reduces bandwidth usage by up to 50% compared to legacy H.264-only solutions, while maintaining crisp, crystal-clear video output.
- 【Broad Protocol Support for IP Distribution】 Supports SRT, RTMP(S), RTSP, UDP, HTTP, HLS, WebRTC, TRTC, Icecast and SHOUTcast — integrate seamlessly with CDNs, surveillance NVRs, IPTV systems and browser-based monitoring dashboards. One device replaces multiple single-purpose streaming boxes.
- 【Browser-Based Setup in Minutes】 Set up in minutes through any browser — no software, drivers or OS compatibility issues. DHCP is enabled by default to prevent IP address conflicts on your network. Note: basic networking knowledge (IP address, RTSP/RTMP configuration) is recommended for advanced streaming setups.
- 【Compact Design with Flexible Deployment】Palm-sized form factor (approx. 90×54×29mm) fits easily behind monitors, on shelves, or in equipment racks. Low power consumption ensures reliable 24/7 operation for live events, remote monitoring, and digital signage.
- 【Professional Audio & OSD Overlay + 1-Year Warranty】 Supports HDMI embedded audio plus external 3.5mm input. Built-in OSD generator adds scrolling text, logos, or timestamps directly to the video stream — ideal for branding, event info, or security labeling. Backed by a 1-year warranty and 24/7 online technical support.
Use a different protocol when you need multiple connections
IRL Pro uses RTMP and SRT over one connection; it does not bond multiple connections, according to the Enhanced IRL technical guide. That guide points creators who want to combine connections toward an SRTLA workflow with Moblin or BELABOX. This is a different workflow, not proof that either option is a drop-in IRL Pro replacement with identical features. It adds setup requirements, so check the official documentation and destination support before committing.
Add a relay only when the workflow calls for one
IRLServer lists a Standard plan at $9.99/month (the page capture did not state a year). It lists RTMP, SRT, and SRTLA relay endpoints, a 20 Mb/s maximum input bitrate, uncapped resolution, and no data caps or overage fees. Users provide their own OBS, Streamlabs, or vMix software, so this is a relay—not a standalone phone broadcasting app. Recheck current terms and whether its workflow fits your setup before subscribing.

Consider bonded hardware as a separate, higher-cost tier
Bonded equipment may suit creators who need a more managed field setup, but the cited vendor prices are not like-for-like app comparisons and should be verified directly because prices can change.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| System | Published starting price in the cited comparison or listing | What that price describes |
|---|---|---|
| LiveU Solo | $1,500 plus $45 or more per month | Starting price in IRL Bonded’s 2026 vendor comparison |
| TVU One | $10,000 or more | Starting price in IRL Bonded’s 2026 vendor comparison |
| UnlimitedIRL IRL Backpack v7 | $2,995 without camera | UnlimitedIRL’s listing describes an all-in-one bonded video streaming system |
These figures illustrate a different spending tier, not a budget default. UnlimitedIRL says the Backpack v7 integrates hot-swappable USB-C power banks for extended operation. A compatible power bank can also be supporting gear for a phone stream, but check your phone’s charging standards, required output, cable, capacity, weight, and rig compatibility before buying one.

How to choose without paying for the wrong thing
- Choose an app if you mainly need to encode and send a phone stream and your mobile connection is adequate.
- Investigate bonding if combining multiple network connections is important; confirm the SRTLA workflow, supported apps or hardware, and destination requirements.
- Pay for a relay only if its receiving and forwarding role addresses a real need. Budget for the separate encoder or software it requires.
- Price a hardware system separately from an app or relay. Account for equipment, recurring service where applicable, power, and setup.
- Compare more than the sticker price: bitrate and resolution ceilings, ingest server location, bonding support, recurring data or relay cost, device compatibility, and setup complexity can determine whether an option is practical.
Optional endurance gear for long streams
A USB-C power bank can help keep a phone powered during a long mobile stream, but it is an accessory rather than an IRL Pro alternative. UnlimitedIRL’s Backpack v7 listing describes hot-swappable USB-C banks as part of its extended-runtime setup; that does not establish compatibility with every phone or rig. Confirm charging standards, output, cable, capacity, weight, and fit for your own equipment.
