Hello Games announced that the iOS release will include the full universe and major updates. Compatible devices and a feature restriction
Hello Games lists iPhone 11 and later and third-generation iPad Air and later as supported. Planetary settlements require iPhone 15 Pro or later. Controls and multiplayer
The mobile version is designed with rebuilt touch controls and supports controllers. Hello Games also says players can cast to a TV and use a mouse and keyboard on iPad; no particular accessory model is specified. Multiplayer is not supported in the announced iOS version, even though the App Store description discusses a shared galaxy in which players may share discoveries. Do not assume multiplayer features from other platforms carry over.

Hello Games says the app is under 4 GB. That is the developer’s announced app size, not a guarantee of the total storage needed after installation or future updates.
Star Traders: Frontiers: best for a self-directed space captain
Star Traders: Frontiers is the strongest alternative if you like choosing your own identity and priorities in a spacefaring game. Its US App Store listing describes a mobile space RPG in which you command a ship and crew.
