What makes a VPS suitable for a 24/7 YouTube stream?
A VPS can host streaming software that sends video to YouTube continuously. Whether a particular plan is suitable depends on the stream you intend to send, the number of destinations, and the host’s sustained outbound-network policy—not just the advertised port speed or the number of CPU cores.

For a stream that forwards an existing encoded feed without changing it, network capacity and transfer terms are central. If the server must encode or transcode video, CPU capacity also matters; the reviewed provider pages do not establish how much capacity a particular stream needs. Before paying, ask the provider to confirm in writing that your specific continuous YouTube-relay use is permitted and what sustained egress, transfer, SLA, and support terms apply.

On the published evidence, Inservers is the more directly streaming-specific VPS offer; that does not prove it will perform better than Contabo for your route or workload. Compare written terms and test your intended setup before relying on either for a production channel.
Estimate the outbound bandwidth your stream needs
Start with YouTube’s encoder settings
YouTube Help recommends RTMPS for live ingestion and provides recommended bitrate guidance by resolution and frame rate. Its guidance also recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, with a maximum interval of four seconds. Use the current YouTube table for your target resolution, frame rate, and codec rather than treating one bitrate as universal: YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions.

YouTube’s guide is configuration guidance, not confirmation that live streaming is enabled for your account. Check live access and the current stream configuration in your own YouTube account before planning a launch. YouTube also advises testing with representative audio and motion before going live, then monitoring stream health during the event.
Count every destination
For one destination, the server must continuously send the stream’s outbound bitrate to YouTube. If you relay the same feed to multiple platforms or destinations, outbound traffic can multiply with each destination. Calculate the combined outbound bitrate for your actual setup, then ask the provider whether its sustained egress and transfer policy support that load. The Inservers page describes relaying one incoming OBS stream onward to several platforms, but its bandwidth-sufficiency claims are not independently verified here.

A 1 Gbps advertised uplink or an “unmetered” label does not by itself show that a VPS will sustain your stream continuously or that its usage complies with the host’s policy. Ask for the relevant written limits and conditions, not just the headline network figure.
Keep NIC guidance in its own context
The National Informatics Centre’s webcast service guidance specifies 2–4 Mbps of dedicated bandwidth per stream for the workflows described on that government service page. Its hired-agency path also calls for a static public IP and confirmation of outbound RTMP port 1935. These are NIC workflow requirements, not blanket YouTube or VPS requirements; do not substitute the NIC bandwidth figure for YouTube’s encoder bitrate guidance. How to choose and launch a VPS relay
- Choose the workflow. Decide whether the VPS will relay an already encoded OBS feed or encode/transcode video itself. If you plan to encode on the server, ask the provider whether the chosen plan has sufficient CPU for your specific workload; the reviewed pages do not establish a safe CPU specification.
- Confirm location and current offer. Check that the exact India location is available for the plan you want. Inservers identifies New Delhi on its streaming VPS page; Contabo identifies Mumbai on its India location page. Confirm current price, tax treatment, and configuration directly with the provider.
- Get written network and policy answers. Ask about transfer caps or fair-use rules, sustained outbound throughput, whether continuous YouTube relaying is permitted, static IP availability if your workflow needs it, outbound port restrictions, SLA or service credits, support hours, and any backup costs. Do not infer these from an “unmetered” label or a listed port speed.
- Configure the encoder for YouTube. In your encoder, select RTMPS and use YouTube’s current bitrate guidance for your resolution, frame rate, and codec. Set CBR and a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds), following YouTube’s guidance. Use the stream key from your YouTube live setup and keep it private.
- Test before depending on it. Send a test with the same kind of motion and audio as the planned stream. Check YouTube stream health and observe the VPS’s outbound behavior for the intended duration. A short successful test cannot establish long-term uptime; confirm contractual terms separately.
- Monitor and prepare recovery. Monitor YouTube stream health during operation and know how to restart the encoder or relay if the connection fails. Establish who to contact and what response is included under the host’s support terms.
Costs and trade-offs
Inservers advertises its listed entry streaming offer from ₹880/month; that is a provider-published price, not an independently verified or guaranteed current price. Contabo’s location page publishes monthly prices for its listed configurations, but the reviewed information does not establish which, if any, is appropriate for continuous YouTube relay. Check the current location-specific checkout total and terms before committing.

A VPS gives you control over the server and relay setup, but you are responsible for configuring and recovering that software and for checking whether your plan’s sustained egress and policy fit the stream.
