The right choice depends on whether you need a managed service or want to run and maintain your own streaming software. For a prepared video loop, a modest VPS with FFmpeg can be enough; scenes, browser sources, or live re-encoding need more CPU and memory. If you want the stream to run without administering a server, StreamNeo is the simplest cloud option to consider first; if you want Linux control, compare VPS specifications and transfer terms rather than relying on an “unmetered” label.
Best options for keeping a lofi stream live
- StreamNeo: A managed cloud service that loops uploaded videos to YouTube, with any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and a free first day.
- Self-managed Indian VPS: A fit for creators comfortable setting up Linux, FFmpeg, and automatic process recovery. Inservers advertises a New Delhi entry plan, but its stated capabilities are vendor claims, not independent performance results.
- YtLive: A hosted alternative with vendor-listed stream limits and prices; compare its current terms and features with your needs before choosing.
StreamNeo is first for the simplest managed route because the stream runs in the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and includes a free first day. That does not make it a comparable substitute for a VPS when you need to run custom software or control a live scene.
Choose based on what your stream has to do
Prepared video loop
If your lofi radio is a finished video file played repeatedly, FFmpeg can send it to YouTube without a graphical desktop. A VPS is a reasonable DIY option, provided the plan has adequate CPU, storage, and monthly transfer allowance and you can maintain the process.
Scenes, overlays, or re-encoding
OBS is useful when you need scenes, browser sources, transitions, or manual visual controls. A Space-Node guide published July 5, 2026 suggests 2 vCPU and 2–4 GB RAM for a static FFmpeg loop, 4 vCPU and 8 GB RAM for OBS scenes at 720p, and 6 vCPU and 12 GB RAM for OBS at 1080p with browser sources. These are guide recommendations, not guaranteed minimums or benchmark results. See the Space-Node VPS guide.

Managed operation
A managed service avoids the day-to-day work of keeping a Linux process alive and recovering it after a failure. Check storage, number of simultaneous streams, upload limits, recovery behavior, cancellation terms, and current price; features advertised by a provider should be treated as that provider’s claims.

| StreamNeo | Managed YouTube looping; see current plans. | Cloud operation, uploaded-video looping and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free without a card; see the cloud option below. |
| Inservers New Delhi streaming VPS | ₹880/month; 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe, 1 Gbps unmetered uplink. | Inservers says this is sufficient for a single 1080p60 relay without transcoding. This is the vendor’s capability statement, not independent verification. Its page is at Inservers VPS for Streaming India. |
| YtLive Starter | ₹499/month; one active stream, up to 720p. | Plan limit and price listed by YtLive; confirm current terms at YtLive. |
| YtLive Pro | ₹999/month; two active streams, 1080p output, advertised auto-recovery. | Plan features and recovery are vendor statements; confirm current terms at YtLive. |
Do not compare only the monthly sticker price. For a VPS, include any taxes, operating-system licensing, backups, and support you may need. Ask whether unmetered egress is contractual, how fair use is applied, and what overages cost. For any provider, check cancellation, response times, recovery behavior, and storage limits.
What an Indian server location does—and does not—mean
A New Delhi server is the location of your encoder, not a guarantee of better reach or playback quality for viewers. YouTube distributes playback to viewers; the server’s region by itself does not establish channel reach. Choose a location for practical reasons such as latency from your administration connection and the provider’s documented network terms, then test the actual stream.

Set up a self-managed VPS for a prepared loop
This route assumes a Linux VPS, an already prepared video file, a YouTube channel eligible to stream, and basic comfort with SSH and Linux services. Exact commands vary by distribution and FFmpeg build; the following sequence describes the necessary setup without assuming a provider-specific control panel.
- Choose a plan for the workload. For a static FFmpeg loop, use the cited 2-vCPU, 2–4-GB-RAM range as a planning estimate, then leave headroom and check storage and transfer limits. Choose more resources if you will run OBS or encode the media on the server.
- Install FFmpeg and place the media on the server. Upload a file you have permission to broadcast. Check that its audio and video play correctly and that its format is supported by your FFmpeg installation.
- Create a YouTube live stream and copy its stream key. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live, configure the stream, and copy the stream key from the stream setup. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, place it in public logs, or share it. Use YouTube’s RTMP or RTMPS ingest details shown for your stream rather than assuming a fixed server URL.
- Configure the encoder to meet YouTube’s recommendations. YouTube’s current help guidance lists H.264 1080p30 at a 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended bitrate, and H.264 720p30 at a 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended bitrate. It recommends CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, and supports RTMP/RTMPS. Use settings appropriate to the resolution and frame rate you actually intend to send. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
- Loop the file with FFmpeg. Use FFmpeg’s input-looping and stream-copy options only when the file’s codecs and parameters are already suitable for YouTube ingest. If they are not, encode to a supported format and bitrate instead; encoding increases CPU demand. Keep the stream key in a protected configuration or environment variable, not in a command history or publicly readable script.
- Run the encoder under a service manager. Configure systemd to start the FFmpeg process on boot and restart it if it exits. A restart policy can recover a stopped process, but it does not prove uninterrupted end-to-end delivery to YouTube. The Space-Node 24/7 VPS guide discusses FFmpeg, OBS, and a systemd restart policy.
- Test before leaving it unattended. Start a private or unlisted test, use representative audio and motion, and check YouTube’s stream health and audio/video playback. Monitor server load and logs long enough to catch buffering, process exits, or resource pressure before relying on the stream continuously.
Bitrate, transfer use, and storage
Continuous streaming uses substantial monthly egress. A Space-Node guide estimates roughly 1 TB per month at 2.5 Mbps; treat that as an estimate, not a plan allowance. Calculate from your actual bitrate and streaming duration, then confirm the VPS provider’s monthly transfer cap, fair-use conditions, and overage charges. A stated 1 Gbps uplink is a link-speed specification, not evidence of unlimited sustained transfer or a particular end-to-end stream quality.

Storage must hold the media you loop as well as the operating system and any logs. A long, high-resolution video can require much more space than a short loop. For multiple active streams, account for each stream’s encoding load and outgoing bitrate rather than assuming a single-stream plan scales automatically.

- Use music, artwork, and video that you created or have permission to broadcast. Rights to the music alone may not cover artwork, samples, or other material in the visual loop.
- Review YouTube’s current live encoder requirements and stream health before starting a public broadcast. A technically healthy connection does not establish that the content complies with copyright or channel policies.
- Do not assume that looping a file makes it permissible or suitable for monetization. Review YouTube’s applicable copyright and reused-content rules for your channel and content.
For a pre-broadcast rights review, use the copyright safety checklist.

Troubleshooting a 24/7 stream
- YouTube shows no incoming video: Confirm that the encoder is running, the selected ingest address is correct, and the stream key matches the stream in YouTube Studio. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder configuration.
- Stream health reports instability or viewers see buffering: Check whether the outgoing bitrate is appropriate for the selected resolution, inspect server CPU and network usage, and verify the provider’s sustained egress and fair-use terms. Run another representative test rather than relying only on advertised uplink speed.
- FFmpeg exits and the broadcast stops: Inspect the service logs for file, codec, or resource errors and confirm systemd is configured to restart the process. A restart policy only helps when the process exits; it cannot fix an unreachable VPS or a YouTube ingest problem.
- Video plays but audio is missing or wrong: Test the source file locally, confirm that the encoder is sending its audio stream, and check YouTube playback during a test. Verify rights to the audio as well as to the visuals.
- VPS runs out of space or transfer allowance: Check media and log storage, remove unnecessary files safely, and compare actual monthly egress with the provider’s limits and overage terms.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price rather than quality tiers; it includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. It is for uploaded-video streams to YouTube, not going live from a camera. Check upload time before sending large files.
