Best Iced Espresso Machines: Cold Espresso, Iced Coffee and Cold Brew

The best iced espresso machine depends on how you want your drink made. For dedicated cold espresso settings, consider the Sage Barista Touch Impress with Cold Extraction; for a broad automatic menu, consider the De’Longhi Eletta Explore. If you mainly want brew-over-ice coffee, cold brew, or capsule convenience, different machines may suit you better. These options use different methods, so “iced” on a menu does not necessarily mean cold-extracted espresso.

What counts as an iced espresso machine?

“Iced coffee” can describe drinks made by several methods, and they do not produce the same result. Cold espresso or cold extraction is distinct from making hot espresso and pouring it over ice. Brew-over-ice coffee is another method, while cold brew is generally a separate style of cold extraction.

  • Dedicated cold espresso or cold extraction: The machine has a setting intended to extract espresso for a cold drink. Check the maker’s terminology rather than assuming every iced setting does this.
  • Hot espresso over ice: The machine makes regular hot espresso, which is then poured over ice. It can make an iced drink, but the espresso itself was not cold-extracted.
  • Brew-over-ice coffee: A coffee machine brews coffee for serving over ice. This is not automatically espresso.
  • Cold brew: A different cold-coffee preparation. De’Longhi describes the Eletta Explore’s cold brew as low-pressure extraction using room-temperature water.

When comparing machines, look for the actual drink method, not just an “iced” label. Ideal Home’s buying guide, updated 28 May 2026, distinguishes cold brew from specially brewed coffee served over ice.

Best machines by the kind of cold drink you want

Reader priority Candidate Documented features Trade-offs and evidence limits
Dedicated cold espresso and cold brew settings Sage Barista Touch Impress with Cold Extraction Ideal Home describes cold espresso and cold brew settings, auto dosing and extraction, adjustable milk temperature, and eight texture levels. Ideal Home says it is expensive and that the baskets can initially be tricky to fit into the portafilter. Those are the guide’s observations, not a hands-on assessment for this article. Verify local naming and availability; the recommendation is presented in the guide’s UK context.
Automatic iced drinks and cold milk foam De’Longhi Eletta Explore De’Longhi lists 50+ hot and cold recipes, 13 grinder settings, LatteCrema Hot and Cool milk systems, and cold brew in under three minutes. Ideal Home names it its best overall iced coffee maker, while describing it as large and expensive. The timing is De’Longhi’s claim, not an independently verified result here.
Espresso, drip coffee, rapid cold brew and brew-over-ice range Ninja Luxe Café Pro ES701 A Ninja manufacturer listing indexed in search describes espresso, drip coffee, rapid cold brew, hot water, cold-foam presets, and brew-over-ice. The product page redirected to an inaccessible destination when the listing was checked, so confirm current features and availability with Ninja before buying.
Capsule convenience and espresso over ice Ninja Espresso & Coffee Barista System CFN601 A Ninja manufacturer listing indexed in search describes espresso over ice and coffee brewing. The product page redirected to an inaccessible destination when the listing was checked. Confirm current features, availability, and capsule compatibility with Ninja before buying.

Ideal Home’s recommendations are editorial picks, not universal rankings. Its guide calls the Eletta Explore its best overall iced coffee maker and the Sage its best for cold espresso. Ideal Home says its reviewers test machines at home, considering ease of use, setup, parts, resulting coffee quality, and value; that methodology and those picks belong to Ideal Home, not to independent testing for this article.

Which one should you choose?

Choose the Sage for a cold-espresso-focused workflow

If your priority is a machine with dedicated cold espresso and cold brew settings rather than simply hot espresso poured over ice, the Sage is the clearest candidate in this comparison. Its documented functions also include automatic dosing and extraction and adjustable milk texture. Weigh that range against Ideal Home’s reported price and initial basket-fitting drawbacks.

Choose the Eletta Explore for a broad automatic menu

The Eletta Explore is a bean-to-cup option for readers who want a wide selection of hot and cold drinks with automatic milk systems. De’Longhi says it has more than 50 hot and cold recipes and makes cold brew in under three minutes; treat the timing as a manufacturer claim, not a comparative performance result. The large footprint and high cost noted by Ideal Home may matter if counter space or budget is limited.

The ES701 listing points to a multi-function format spanning espresso, drip coffee, cold brew, and brew-over-ice. The CFN601 listing points to capsule-based espresso and coffee, including espresso over ice. Because the manufacturer pages could not be accessed directly for this comparison, verify each model’s current specifications and regional availability before relying on those feature descriptions.

How to compare machines before buying

  • Cold-drink method: Decide whether you want dedicated cold espresso, hot espresso poured over ice, brew-over-ice coffee, or cold brew. These are not interchangeable features.
  • Effort and automation: A manual espresso workflow asks more of you during preparation; bean-to-cup automation or capsules may reduce steps. Confirm exactly which parts of dosing, extraction, and milk preparation are automatic.
  • Milk: Check whether the machine offers a steam wand, an automatic milk system, cold foam, or no integrated milk feature. The Eletta Explore lists hot and cool milk systems; the Sage guide describes adjustable milk temperature and texture settings.
  • Drink range: An espresso-focused model differs from a machine combining espresso with drip coffee, cold brew, and other drinks. Match the menu to the beverages you actually make.
  • Practical fit: Check the machine’s dimensions and consider setup, cleaning, and maintenance. The Eletta is described as large by Ideal Home; the Sage guide flags initially tricky basket fit.
  • Local price and availability: Compare prices within the same country, currency, and time period. De’Longhi Canada displayed CA$2,499.99 on its product page when accessed 4 October 2026; that regional, time-sensitive listing is not a price for other markets.

Source notes for the named models

De’Longhi’s Canadian Eletta Explore product page is the source for its recipe count, grinder settings, milk systems, cold-brew description, and displayed Canadian price. Ninja’s Luxe Café Pro ES701 listing and CFN601 listing were indexed manufacturer listings, but their product pages redirected to inaccessible destinations when checked. Ideal Home’s guide provides the dated editorial assessments and category recommendations.
