1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe best alternative depends on what your HP Chromebook 14c is missing. For more built-in storage while keeping a 14-inch convertible, the HP Chromebook Plus x360 14c-ce0385nr is the clearest documented match: HP lists an 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD configuration. For a clamshell with a similarly storage-focused configuration, consider the Acer Chromebook Plus 514 announced with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage. For more memory and a performance-oriented premium option, the reviewed Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 had 16GB RAM, 256GB storage and documented benchmark results. If you need a particular port, compare the exact model’s port list before choosing; the name “HP Chromebook 14c” covers more than one model.
Start by identifying what you want to improve
“More storage, ports, or performance” describes three different shopping problems, and a laptop that solves one may not solve the others. Decide which limitation is costing you time or convenience before comparing model names. More storage means checking the built-in capacity and type on the exact configuration. More ports means checking whether the laptop has the specific connector you need, not counting newer-looking specifications. More performance means evaluating the processor and memory in a configuration you can actually buy, while treating benchmark scores as results from a particular test setup rather than a guarantee for your workload.

- Choose around storage if you routinely need more local space and want to avoid relying on external storage. The strongest documented options here list 512GB.
- Choose around ports if you have a specific device or cable in mind. Write down the required connector—such as USB-A, USB-C, HDMI or a headset jack—then verify that it appears on the exact SKU’s specification page. The available product details do not establish HDMI for these candidates.
- Choose around performance if your existing Chromebook struggles with the work you do. Compare full configurations, including RAM and processor, and do not infer a universal ranking from unlike processor families.
These goals can conflict. A storage-led model with 8GB RAM may be a better match for local capacity than a device with more memory but only 256GB storage. A laptop with several useful connectors could matter more than a faster processor if your daily setup depends on plugging in multiple peripherals.

First, identify your exact HP Chromebook 14c
HP Chromebook 14c is a family name, not enough information to establish the ports or upgrade options on an individual machine. HP’s support specification page for the 14c-na0000 series lists two USB-C ports, one USB-A port and a headset/microphone combo jack. That configuration should not be assumed for another 14c model code. The storage-focused HP alternative discussed below is model 14c-ce0385nr, a different model code from the 14c-na0000 series.
#1 Best Overall
- Intel Celeron N4120: 4 Cores & Threads, 1.1GHz Base Clock, Up to 2.6GHz Boost Clock, 4MB Cache, Intel UHD Graphics 600. The perfect combination of performance, power consumption, and value helps your device handle multitasking smoothly and reliably with four processing cores to divide up the work.
Before using your current 14c as a comparison point, find its full model identifier on the device label, in its system information, or in the documentation that came with it. Then compare that identifier with the retailer’s listing and the manufacturer’s specifications. Product pages sometimes use a family name prominently while the detailed configuration is identified by a longer code; the longer code is the safer basis for checking a port, storage capacity, screen or processor.
In particular, do not decide that an alternative has “more ports” merely because you saw a port list for a different 14c. First record which connections your current model has and which ones you actually need. A second USB-A port, for example, is useful only if the target configuration provides it and your accessories require it.

Best choice if you need more built-in storage
HP Chromebook Plus x360 14c-ce0385nr: the closest documented family match
HP’s product catalog lists the Chromebook Plus x360 14c-ce0385nr with an Intel Core 3 processor, 8GB RAM, a 512GB SSD and a 2K touchscreen. It retains the 14-inch convertible format and addresses a clear need for more internal capacity compared with a lower-capacity device. The SSD capacity is specifically documented for this model; do not transfer that specification to another 14c just because it shares the family name.
Rank #2
- Storage: 16GB Flash Memory
- OS: Chrome OS
- Screen Size: 11.6"
This is the natural first candidate if you want a convertible and are looking for a large built-in drive. It is not a proven port upgrade: the cited HP catalog details do not establish the port list. Check the exact retail SKU for its connectors before treating it as a solution to a USB or display-output problem. Also confirm that the retailer’s listing actually names model 14c-ce0385nr and gives the same memory and storage configuration.
Acer Chromebook Plus 514: a storage-focused clamshell alternative
Google’s 2024 Chromebook announcement described an Acer Chromebook Plus 514 configuration with a 14-inch touchscreen, Intel Core i3, 8GB RAM and 512GB storage. This makes it a reasonable clamshell candidate if capacity is the main goal and you do not need the HP x360’s convertible format. The announcement gives the storage capacity but does not establish its type or the full port list in the material available here.
The announcement is historical product information, not proof of current local availability or today’s price. Treat it as evidence that a 512GB configuration was announced, not a promise that every Chromebook Plus 514 listing has that capacity. Check the full model number and storage specification in the listing you are considering; configurations can differ even when the product family name is the same.

The Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 review configuration had 256GB of storage, so it is not the largest-capacity option in this comparison. The HP and Acer candidates above are more directly documented for a 512GB storage target. The Lenovo may still be more appropriate if your priority is memory headroom or its reviewed display and processor configuration, rather than maximizing the drive size.

Best choice if you need a specific port
Port count is not a useful substitute for a connector checklist. Two USB-C ports do not automatically solve a need for HDMI or a second USB-A port. Nor should a USB-C port be assumed to support charging or external displays unless the specification for that exact model says so. Use the manufacturer’s port list and capabilities, not just a product photo or a general family description.
What is established about the Lenovo’s ports
TechRadar’s reviewed Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 configuration lists two USB-C ports, one USB-A port and a headset jack. The review says its USB-C ports support charging and an external display. That is a concrete port profile, but it is four listed interfaces, not a high-port-count design. If your goal is multiple USB-A accessories or a built-in HDMI connection, the documented list does not establish those connections.
What is established about the HP 14c-na0000 series
HP’s support page for the 14c-na0000 series lists two USB-C ports, one USB-A port and a combined headphone/microphone jack. This gives a specific comparison point only if your current Chromebook is in that series. The listed port count and connector types alone do not establish that the HP model and Lenovo model have identical USB-C capabilities; the Lenovo review explicitly describes charging and external-display support, while that level of detail is not provided for the HP series here.
Check ports before choosing another candidate
The cited material does not establish a complete port list for the HP Chromebook Plus x360 14c-ce0385nr, Acer Chromebook Plus 514, Acer Chromebook Spin 714, ASUS Chromebook Plus CX34 or HP Chromebook Plus 15.6-inch. If one of these models is your preferred choice, check the exact configuration’s official specification page or the retailer’s detailed listing before ordering. Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14: the most detailed performance evidence
TechRadar’s September 2025 review covered a Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 with a MediaTek Kompanio Ultra 910 processor, described as an eight-core 2.1GHz chip, 16GB LPDDR5x RAM, 256GB UFS 4.0 storage and a 14-inch 1920×1200 OLED touchscreen. The review reported Jetstream2 at 288.364, Kraken at 398.8ms and Speedometer 3.1 at 26.6 (±0.45). These are results from the review’s test setup, not measurements of every Chromebook Plus 14 configuration or a direct head-to-head comparison with a particular HP Chromebook 14c.
The configuration gives you twice the listed memory of the 8GB configurations documented for the HP x360 and Acer 514. That is a concrete reason to consider it if memory capacity is your priority. It does not establish that the Lenovo will be faster for every task: the processor families differ, the workloads you run may differ from the review’s tests, and the reviewed storage capacity is lower than the two documented 512GB candidates.
Recommended Free Tools
TechRadar regarded the Lenovo as expensive for a Chromebook. That makes it a premium candidate rather than an automatic value choice. Without current regional pricing and a confirmed local SKU, compare the price you can actually get with the value you place on 16GB memory, its reviewed display and the specific ports before deciding.

Acer Spin 714 and ASUS CX34: processor-led candidates with details to verify
Google’s announcement describes the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 as a convertible with an Intel Core Ultra processor. It describes the ASUS Chromebook Plus CX34 as a 14-inch clamshell with a 13th Gen Intel Core i5 option. Those processor options and form factors make both worth investigating if you prefer a convertible with Core Ultra or a clamshell with an i5 configuration. The cited announcement does not give the exact storage and port configurations needed to establish that either model solves a particular capacity or connector problem.
Do not treat the processor family alone as a performance ranking against the Lenovo’s MediaTek configuration. Confirm the exact processor, RAM, storage and port list of the SKU offered where you live, then consider whether the device’s form factor and capacity match your original need.
When a larger screen is the real priority
TechRadar’s roundup lists an HP Chromebook Plus 15.6-inch configuration with an Intel Core i3-N305, 8GB LPDDR5 and 128GB UFS. It may be relevant if you want a larger screen, but its listed 128GB storage is not an upgrade over the 512GB configurations covered above. The roundup also cautions against intensive software workloads. Consider it for the screen size rather than as the strongest answer to a storage or demanding-workload problem.

Google’s Chromebook Plus OS update eligibility page gives hardware thresholds that include at least 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, along with processor, camera and display criteria. These thresholds can help you understand the class of hardware being discussed, but meeting the RAM and storage numbers does not by itself prove that a particular model is eligible. Google’s page names eligible device models; check the named-model list rather than inferring eligibility from two specifications.
Likewise, a Chromebook Plus label does not tell you the exact storage, memory or port arrangement of every configuration sold under a product name. Use the label as one clue, then check the specific SKU. For a purchase aimed at solving a concrete problem, the exact configuration is more useful than a broad product-family name.
A practical checklist before you buy
- Write down the current model code. Confirm whether your existing device is a 14c-na0000-series model or another 14c generation before comparing its ports or specifications.
- Pick the primary problem. Decide whether the main need is more built-in storage, a particular connector, more memory, a different processor option, or a convertible versus clamshell design.
- Match the configuration, not just the product name. Look for the complete model number and verify RAM, storage capacity and storage type in the listing or manufacturer specification.
- Check the connector you actually use. Confirm the number, type and stated capabilities of ports on the exact SKU. If your workflow depends on display output or charging over USB-C, find that capability stated explicitly.
- Compare performance evidence with care. Treat the Lenovo’s published benchmark results as review-specific test outputs. They are useful context, not a direct comparison with an HP 14c tested under the same conditions.
- Verify availability and price locally. The cited product announcements and reviews do not establish today’s stock or prices in your region. Check the seller’s current listing and return terms before ordering.
- Keep the intended use in view. A 512GB drive prioritizes capacity; 16GB RAM prioritizes memory headroom; a convertible prioritizes flexibility. No single candidate is documented here as the best at all three.
Which alternative should you shortlist?
For a 14-inch convertible and a clearly documented 512GB SSD, begin with the HP Chromebook Plus x360 14c-ce0385nr. For a clamshell with an announced 512GB configuration, investigate the Acer Chromebook Plus 514 while confirming current availability and the exact SKU. For a reviewed configuration with 16GB RAM, an OLED display and documented benchmark results, consider the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14, recognizing that its reviewed configuration has 256GB storage and is positioned as a premium Chromebook. The Spin 714 and CX34 are alternatives to investigate when their stated processor options or form factors appeal, but verify their exact storage and ports before treating them as solutions.
