Nintendo’s Switch 2 system-update notes document two relevant system features. Handheld Mode Boost can be enabled or disabled from Quick Settings. Variable refresh rate (VRR) can operate in TV mode when the software and television support it, and Nintendo says an updated Switch 2 dock is required. Neither document promises a particular House Flipper 2 frame rate.
Why there is no single best setting
Performance can feel different between handheld, tabletop and TV play because the display path changes. Handheld Mode Boost is a console-level option, not a House Flipper 2 preset, so its effect has to be checked on your own unit. VRR changes how a compatible TV synchronizes refresh with delivered frames; it does not automatically raise the game’s rendering ceiling.
Scenes can also place different demands on the game. A quiet room, a large plot and a busy decorating session are not equivalent tests. To avoid choosing a setting based on one unusually light scene, compare the same save and repeat the same movement route after each change. Record whether motion feels steadier, whether controls feel immediate, and whether image detail changes.

- Update Switch 2. Install the latest system software so the documented Quick Settings features and dock behavior are current.
- Update House Flipper 2. Start from the newest version available for your console. A setting exposed by one build may not appear in another.
- Choose a repeatable test. Use one save, one location and the same short route. Include a demanding area such as a large plot or a room with many objects, because a simple menu or empty room can hide uneven frame pacing.
- Write down the conditions. Note handheld, tabletop or TV mode; whether Handheld Mode Boost or VRR is enabled; the game version; and the scene used. This prevents a visual impression from being mistaken for a controlled comparison.
Do not begin by copying PC recommendations into the Switch 2 version. The console build may omit controls that exist on PC, and a menu label can have a different implementation on another platform.

Handheld mode: test Handheld Mode Boost
What the feature does—and what it does not promise
Nintendo’s update history says Switch 2 adds the ability to enable or disable Handheld Mode Boost from Quick Settings. That is the relevant official lever for handheld play. Nintendo does not publish a House Flipper 2 benchmark showing a guaranteed FPS increase, a fixed resolution, or a preferred on/off state.
How to run the comparison
- Launch House Flipper 2 in handheld mode and load the repeatable test save.
- Play the route with Handheld Mode Boost disabled. Pay attention to camera pans, turning, object placement and movement through a large plot.
- Open Quick Settings and enable Handheld Mode Boost.
- Return to the identical save and repeat the route without changing anything else.
- Keep the state that produces steadier motion and more consistent input on your console. If the difference is negligible, use the state that gives you the clearer or more comfortable image; there is no Nintendo-published game-specific preference to override your observation.
Run each state long enough to encounter the same actions. A brief look at a static room cannot establish whether motion remains stable during building, cleaning or decorating. If a later game update changes the feel, repeat the two-state comparison rather than assuming the previous result still applies.
TV mode: enable VRR only with a compatible setup
Requirements
Nintendo documents VRR for TV mode when both the software and the television support it. The Switch 2 dock must also be updated. Your television needs its own VRR setting enabled; the console and display must be configured together for the feature to operate.
Setup and comparison steps
- Update the Switch 2 dock if the system requests a dock update.
- On the television, enable its VRR or variable-refresh option according to the TV’s own menu labels.
- Enable the corresponding VRR option on Switch 2, if available in the console’s TV settings.
- Launch House Flipper 2 in TV mode and repeat the same save and movement route used for your baseline.
- Disable VRR and repeat the route again. Compare frame pacing, perceived smoothness, image behavior and input feel rather than assuming the enabled state is automatically superior.
VRR can make uneven frame delivery look less jarring on a compatible display, but Nintendo does not state that it increases House Flipper 2’s frame-rate ceiling. If the game or television does not support VRR, leave it off; enabling a menu option cannot create support that the software and display do not provide.

If House Flipper 2 shows graphics controls
Some builds may expose graphics options, while Nintendo’s listing does not promise a particular menu. If you can see such controls in your current Switch 2 version, change one setting at a time and keep a record of the result.
Lower the most expensive options first
Start with options that visibly affect scene complexity, shadows, effects or draw distance, if those categories are present. Reduce the setting one step, replay the same route and check whether motion becomes steadier. Stop when the improvement is no longer worth the loss in image detail. Do not attach a PC preset name or numerical value to a console setting unless the Switch 2 build itself displays that label.
Prefer a stable frame-rate choice
If the game offers more than one frame-rate option, select the most stable choice you can observe in demanding scenes. A lower but consistent option generally feels better than a nominally higher option that repeatedly drops; however, the available choices and their behavior must be verified in your build. Nintendo has not published a Switch 2 target for House Flipper 2.

Change dynamic-resolution or upscaling controls only when present
If a dynamic-resolution quality or upscaling control appears, test its levels in the same scene. Lower quality may improve steadiness while making fine detail softer. Restore the previous level if the visual trade-off is unacceptable. Do not assume that a control described in PC documentation exists on Switch 2.

What PC support advice means for Switch 2
House Flipper’s official support article gives PC players a troubleshooting sequence for FPS drops: turn off V-Sync, lower the frame-rate limiter, lower the graphics preset and reduce dynamic-resolution quality where FSR or DLSS is available. The article also says, “You will need to lower the graphics settings and disable advanced graphics options.” Those instructions are explicitly PC-oriented.
Use that guidance as a description of possible performance levers, not as proof that the same controls exist on Switch 2. Do not tell a Switch 2 player to disable V-Sync, select a particular PC preset or adjust FSR/DLSS unless the current console build visibly provides that control. If no such option appears, the correct action is to use the system-level tests above and document the behavior for support.

A May 16, 2024 PC update changed FSR to version 3 and stated that enabling the option should improve the game’s frame rate. That patch note concerns the PC release. It does not confirm that FSR 3 upscaling or frame generation is exposed in the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
Check the actual Switch 2 graphics menu rather than importing the PC feature list. If FSR 3 is not shown, there is no supported setting to enable. If a future console update adds an option, test it against an unchanged scene and note both image sharpness and frame pacing; do not treat the PC patch note as a measured result for Nintendo hardware.
A practical troubleshooting workflow for stutter
Separate rendering stutter from display behavior
First identify whether the problem appears in handheld, tabletop, TV mode or more than one. A problem seen only on a TV can justify a VRR comparison; a problem seen only in handheld can justify the Handheld Mode Boost comparison. This separation prevents changing several variables at once.
Use a controlled A/B test
Return to the same save, repeat the same camera movement and change only one setting. Test Boost off versus on in handheld, then VRR off versus on in TV mode where supported. If the result changes after an update, record the new game and system versions before drawing a conclusion.
Check image quality separately from smoothness
A softer image can appear smoother simply because fine detail is less noticeable, while a sharper image can make uneven motion easier to see. Record both observations. The useful choice is the one that meets your priority—steadier movement, sharper detail or a balance—rather than a setting selected from a generic PC guide.

When stutter persists, write down the mode, Boost state, VRR state, game version, system version and the scene or activity that triggers it. Include whether the issue occurs while moving the camera, entering a large plot, placing many objects or performing another repeatable action. This gives official support something reproducible to investigate instead of a general report that the game feels slow.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming a fixed FPS. No Nintendo listing or update note supplied for this version gives a frame-rate target.
- Treating VRR as a performance boost. VRR can alter presentation on a compatible TV, but it does not establish a higher rendering ceiling.
- Copying PC menu instructions. V-Sync, frame-limit, preset and FSR/DLSS advice comes from PC support material and may not exist on Switch 2.
- Assuming FSR 3 is present. The May 2024 FSR 3 note confirms a PC change, not console availability.
- Changing several variables at once. If Boost, VRR and multiple graphics options change together, you cannot identify which change affected the result.
