What to play after Silent Hill 2 leaves PS Plus
Match the alternative to the kind of horror you want, rather than choosing by genre label alone. Silent Hill 2 is psychological horror; Until Dawn is a choice-driven slasher; Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a multiplayer extraction shooter with monsters and hostile hunters. Those are distinct experiences, not interchangeable campaigns.

Sony’s October 2025 catalog announcement describes Silent Hill 2 as a remake of the 2001 game and identifies its psychological-horror premise. It describes Until Dawn as a slasher story about eight friends at an isolated mountain lodge, where choices affect survival. That announcement records past catalog inclusion, not current availability.

How to find horror games that are currently included
Availability changes, and a title appearing in a past catalog announcement does not mean it is still included. Use Sony’s official PlayStation Plus game finder as a discovery tool, then confirm the listing on the account and console you will use.

- Open the game finder and choose the Horror genre filter.
- Check the listing’s game type. Game Catalog, Classics Catalog, monthly games, Ubisoft+ Classics and trials are separate categories, with different access conditions.
- Confirm the required subscription tier and that the title is available in your region. The live finder’s US listings do not settle availability elsewhere.
- Before downloading or planning a playthrough, check the local PlayStation Store’s “Last Chance to Play” area for removal notices and dates.
Sony says catalog offerings change over time. The finder is dynamic, so an inclusion found today should not be treated as permanent.
What happens when a PS Plus catalog game is removed?
When a game leaves the catalog, the subscription entitlement to play it through that catalog ends. Buying the game separately is a different access route; the sources establish no grace period after removal. If you want to continue with Silent Hill 2 itself rather than switch games, look for a separately sold PS5 copy and verify its format, edition and regional availability before buying.

Is Hunt: Showdown 1896 a horror replacement?
It fits if you want monsters, hostile opponents and high-stakes action. Sony lists Hunt: Showdown 1896 as an October 2026 monthly game, available October 6 through November 2, and describes an extraction-shooter structure with solo play or teams of up to three. Claiming a monthly game is not the same as accessing an Extra/Premium catalog title; check the local Store for the offer and claim window. Sony also notes that monthly lineups may vary by region.
