The best Hatch Restore 3 alternative depends on what you want to keep and what you want to remove. Choose Dreamegg Sunrise 2 for a lower-cost sunrise light, night-light and sound machine without a monthly subscription; Lumie Bodyclock Glow 150 for simple physical controls and no phone connection; Philips SmartSleep HF3650/60 for a 30-minute sunrise, sunset simulation and guided breathing; or Beurer WL 65 Wake+Charge if charging your phone overnight is the deciding feature.
Hatch Restore 3 remains the more integrated option for phone-free controls, bedtime lighting and a broad sleep-audio ecosystem. The comparison below separates features included with each device from optional services, and distinguishes models that are often confused, such as Dreamegg Sunrise 1+ versus Sunrise 2 and Lumie Glow 150 versus Shine 300.

What Hatch Restore 3 offers
Restore 3 combines three bedside jobs: it gradually brightens for wake-up, provides dim bedtime lighting, and plays sleep-focused audio. Hatch describes its controls as usable without keeping a phone beside the bed, while the companion app handles setup and access to additional content.
#1 Best Overall
- Gentle Wake Up with Sunrise Alarm Clock: The sunrise simulation gradually brightens over a customizable 5-60 minutes before your set alarm time, aligning with your circadian rhythm for a peaceful, stress-free start to your day.
- Soothing Sound Machine for Better Sleep: Choose from 25 calming sounds, including white/pink/brown/blue noise and natural sounds like waves and rain. Set the sleep timer for a restful slumber.
- Immersive Bluetooth Audio: Stream music, podcasts, or audiobooks via Bluetooth. The 5W stereo speaker delivers clear sound quality, creating an immersive listening experience.
- 0-100% Dimmable Digital Clock & Night Light: Adjust the clock’s display to the perfect brightness with a full-range dimmer. The soft night light features 12 color options including a sunset light, perfect for reading or relaxing before bed.
- Personalize Your Wake-Up Experience: Customize your morning with 7 alarm sounds and adjustable volume. Choose from 3 wake-up modes: gentle light + sound, just the alarm, or sunrise light without sound for a natural wake-up experience.
Hatch’s product page includes a 30-day Hatch+ trial and lists Hatch+ at $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year when that page was accessed. Those are time-sensitive prices, and the subscription should not be confused with the hardware’s basic alarm and light functions. The expanded service is mainly relevant if you want a larger audio and routine library than the content included with the device.
Hatch’s own October 2023 Sleep Wellness Impact survey asked 1,000 Restore and Restore 2 customers about their experience. It reports that 10% said their sleep improved, 12% said they enjoyed waking up more, and 11% said they felt better rested. These are self-reported results from a vendor survey, not an independent clinical trial or proof that a sunrise alarm treats a sleep disorder.
The same company also sells a Sleep Clock. Hatch’s comparison says both products have sunrise alarms, built-in sleep-designed audio and phone-free controls, while the Sleep Clock adds contactless tracking. The manufacturer-listed snapshot was about $169 for Restore 3 and $249 for Sleep Clock; verify the live prices before treating that as current. For someone leaving the Hatch ecosystem, the Sleep Clock is an upgrade within the same brand rather than a substitute from another manufacturer.

Dreamegg Sunrise 2 is the closest fit when the essential checklist is a sunrise alarm, a night light and a sound machine without a recurring bill. Tom’s Guide’s reviewer says it can be used without paying a monthly subscription and without connecting a phone every night. That makes it appealing if you do not want a bedside routine to depend on an app account or a cloud-based content library.
The trade-off is breadth. The cited description establishes sound-machine functions, but it does not establish a library size or the same routine depth marketed for Hatch+. Do not assume that every Restore 3 audio routine has a Dreamegg equivalent. Check the current regional listing for the actual sound set, alarm-memory behavior and power details.
Rank #2

Its sunrise simulation gently brightens your room from 1% to 100% over 5–60 minutes, easing you out of sleep like a soft morning breeze. Without harsh alarms — just a gentle wake up light that makes every morning feel calmer, brighter, and truly refreshing.
- 【Sleep Deeply with Soothing Sounds】26 gentle sleep sounds, like white noise, ocean waves, rain, wind - help block distractions, quiet your thoughts, and guide you into deep, restful sleep. A 5–180 min timer automatically turns off sound and night light, supporting a peaceful and personalized bedtime routine.
- 【0-100% Dimmable Clock & Night Light】With a full-range display dimmer, get your personal comfort clock brightness without disturbing your sleep at night. 8 different colors of the nightlight with adjustable brightness. Soft light for reading, no eye strain for kids and adults.
- 【Ease into Setup】Designed for simplicity, the clock features clearly labeled icons and a logical layout for easy one-handed use. Just a quick glance to get started. With a built-in battery, you’ll worry about losing your alarm, light, or sound settings—even if the power goes out.
- 【Stylish Wood Design for Decor】 You will love the aesthetic of this sunrise clock sound machine. Sleek, clean, and modern make it looks like a beautiful piece of wood furniture. Functionality and stylish appearance make it a perfect gift for your family, lovers, friends, and kids.
Brightness is another decision point. In Tom’s Guide’s comparison, Lumie Shine 300 is presented as the brighter choice for heavy sleepers, so Sunrise 2 is better framed as a practical light-and-sound device rather than the maximum-output option. That is a reviewer judgment, not a guarantee that every sleeper will wake more reliably.
Do not confuse Sunrise 2 with Sunrise 1+
A 2026 Woman & Home guide names Dreamegg Sunrise 1+ as its overall pick. Sunrise 1+ and Sunrise 2 are distinct model names, and the cited material does not establish that they have identical hardware, controls or sound collections. Match the exact model number in the listing, manual and return policy before buying accessories or relying on a specification.
Lumie Bodyclock Glow 150 and Shine 300: straightforward wake-up lighting
Glow 150
Lumie Bodyclock Glow 150 is suited to readers who want a dedicated appliance with controls on the unit. Tom’s Guide describes sunrise and sunset simulation, an audible alarm, 10 calming sleep and wake sounds, a night-light mode and bedside-lamp use. The reviewer also says it does not need a smartphone connection and that the described features do not require an ongoing subscription.
That combination changes the nightly routine: you can set the alarm, adjust light and choose sounds at the device rather than unlocking a phone in a dark room. It is a strong fit for a guest room, a child’s room or anyone who wants the fewest app interactions. The lamp function also means it can replace a separate low-level bedside light, although the cited review does not provide a measured brightness figure.
Shine 300
Shine 300 is a separate Lumie model, not another name for Glow 150. Tom’s Guide’s comparison identifies it as the brighter option and a possible match for heavy sleepers. The cited material also describes Shine 300 as a higher-priced Lumie model, but it does not provide a stable, region-neutral price. Confirm the exact brightness specification, included sounds and local name before assuming that a Shine 300 listing has Glow 150’s feature set.
Rank #3
- 【Full-Screen Sunrise Simulation for Heavy Sleepers】 This sunrise alarm clock mimics natural dawn, glowing from dark to full brightness within 10-60 minutes before your alarm. Its front full-screen panel delivers superior light coverage to gently wake deep sleepers without jarring jolts.
- 【Dual Alarms, Snooze & Auto-Sync】 Easily set separate Everyday, Weekday, or Weekend routines for your family. Features a custom 5-20 min snooze. Syncs automatically with your phone via Bluetooth for precision timekeeping—no tedious manual resetting.
- 【25 Natural Sleep Sounds & FM Radio】 Fall asleep to 25 natural sounds and white noises with a flexible 10-480 min sleep timer. Supports an L0 screen blackout mode for total darkness. Features a built-in 76-108 MHz FM radio with auto-scan to easily set radio stations as your alarm tone.
- 【Atmosphere Lights & 5W Bluetooth Speaker】 Experience 17 lighting effects (8 solid colors & 9 dynamic RGBs) with an immersive music-rhythm mode that flashes to the beat. The premium 5W speaker streams crisp, rich audio from your phone, upgrading the poor audio and rigid lighting common in older models.
- 【Intuitive Setup & Ideal Gift】 Designed with straightforward buttons for frustration-free operation out of the box. This aesthetic nightlight clock is functional bedroom decor and the ideal birthday or holiday gift for families, parents, and seniors.
Philips SmartSleep HF3650/60: a light-and-breathing routine
Philips SmartSleep HF3650/60 is the most distinctive alternative if your wind-down routine includes guided breathing rather than only sounds. Philips says the sunrise simulation runs for 30 minutes, moving from morning red through orange to bright yellow. The product also provides sunset simulation, multiple lights and sounds, and RelaxBreathe light-guided breathing.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The 30-minute figure is a manufacturer specification for the simulated sunrise, not a claim that every user needs exactly that duration. A longer, gentler transition may feel better if you are sensitive to light; a shorter or brighter setting may be preferable if you sleep through low-intensity alarms. Use the device’s own controls and manual to select the available timing and intensity options for your region.
Philips establishes that the unit has multiple sounds, but the cited product page does not compare the size of that selection with Hatch’s audio library. Choose it for the combination of light stages and breathing guidance, not on an assumption that it contains Hatch+’s catalog.
Beurer WL 65 Wake+Charge: choose it for charging
Beurer’s WL 65 Wake+Charge is an adjacent option for people who want a sunrise alarm that also charges a phone during the night. Beurer’s UK product page confirms the model, and Woman & Home highlights the charging function.
The available evidence does not establish that its sleep sounds, routine library or sunrise controls match Restore 3. If charging is secondary and sleep audio is central, compare the manual’s sound list and alarm behavior before choosing it. If charging is the deciding feature, verify connector compatibility, charging speed and whether the phone must remain in a particular position.

Choose by your highest-priority feature
You want no monthly payment
Start with Dreamegg Sunrise 2 or Lumie Glow 150. The cited reviews describe both as usable without an ongoing subscription. Restore 3 still works as a hardware alarm and light, but Hatch+ is the route to its expanded content, so calculate the total cost over the period you expect to keep the device.
You do not want a phone in the bedroom
Lumie Glow 150 has physical controls, and Tom’s Guide says it does not require a smartphone connection. Dreamegg Sunrise 2 is also described as usable without connecting a phone each night. Restore 3 offers phone-free controls after setup, but app access remains relevant for managing content and routines.
You need the brightest wake-up light
The cited comparison positions Lumie Shine 300 as brighter than Dreamegg Sunrise 2 and potentially better for heavy sleepers. Philips’ HF3650/60 provides a documented 30-minute color progression, while its page does not supply a brightness comparison with Lumie. Look for a return policy if you cannot verify output in person; perceived brightness varies with room darkness, placement and individual sensitivity.
You want sunset as well as sunrise
Lumie Glow 150, Lumie Shine 300 and Philips HF3650/60 are the clearest matches because their cited descriptions include sunset simulation. The Dreamegg Sunrise 2 evidence supplied here establishes sunrise, night-light and sound-machine functions but not a sunset mode.
You want guided breathing
Philips HF3650/60 is the only model in this comparison with a manufacturer-described RelaxBreathe light-guided breathing feature. None of the cited material establishes an equivalent feature on the other models.

You want phone charging
Beurer WL 65 Wake+Charge is the purpose-built choice. Treat charging as a separate requirement from sleep audio, because the available description does not establish a comparable sound library.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to set up a sunrise alarm without undermining sleep
- Place the light correctly. Put it where the light can reach your face without shining directly into your eyes at close range. Keep vents and power cables clear.
- Set the wake time first. Use the device controls or app to choose the final wake time, then select the longest sunrise duration available if you want the gentlest transition.
- Choose a sound backup. Pick a low-volume wake sound for the last stage. A light alone may be insufficient in a bright room, for a heavy sleeper or when the device is partly blocked.
- Program sunset or wind-down lighting. If the model supports sunset simulation, schedule it before your intended bedtime and keep other room lights low.
- Test one full cycle while awake. Confirm that the light reaches the bed, the alarm volume is audible and the controls are understandable before relying on it for an important morning.
- Keep a conventional backup for critical mornings. Sunrise alarms are behavioral aids, not guaranteed wake-up devices. Use a separate alarm when missing the wake time has serious consequences.
Common buying and setup mistakes
- Mixing model names: Sunrise 1+ is not established as the same product as Sunrise 2, and Shine 300 is not another name for Glow 150.
- Assuming every sound is included: Hatch+ expands Hatch’s audio and routine library; subscription content and bundled content are different.
- Comparing currencies directly: A US-dollar snapshot and a UK-pound listing are not equivalent prices. Check your country’s retailer and warranty terms.
- Expecting clinical results: Vendor survey percentages describe customer reports. They do not show that a device cures insomnia, changes circadian disorders or works for every sleeper.
- Ignoring room conditions: Curtains, bed distance, eye masks and competing lights can change how bright a sunrise appears.
- Buying by a headline feature alone: A charging port, breathing mode or larger audio catalog matters only if it fits your nightly routine.
What is and is not established about effectiveness
Sunrise alarms are designed to make waking more gradual by increasing light before the target time. The cited manufacturer and review material describes functions and user impressions, not an independent head-to-head efficacy test of Restore 3 against these alternatives. No supplied source supports saying that one of these devices will improve sleep for everyone or treat a diagnosed sleep condition.
Hatch’s three percentages come from its own 2023 customer survey, and Philips’ product page references a 92% user result without enough year or method detail in the accessible text to interpret it responsibly. That Philips figure is therefore not used as a comparative performance claim here.

Price, availability and regional checks
Hatch’s current product page showed Restore 3 at $169.99 when accessed, while a Hatch support comparison rounded it to $169. Those are manufacturer snapshots and may change. Hatch+ was listed at $5.99 monthly or $59.99 annually with a 30-day trial at the time of access.
The cited material does not provide stable, directly comparable prices for Dreamegg Sunrise 2, Lumie Glow 150, Lumie Shine 300, Philips HF3650/60 or Beurer WL 65. Retail prices, bundles, discontinued regional variants and warranty coverage can differ substantially. Verify the exact model suffix, plug type, included power supply, return window and subscription terms in your country before ordering.
Bottom-line recommendation
Pick Dreamegg Sunrise 2 when a lower-cost, no-subscription light-and-sound machine is the goal. Pick Lumie Glow 150 when physical controls, sunset simulation and lamp use matter more than a large content ecosystem; consider Shine 300 if you specifically need the brighter Lumie option. Choose Philips SmartSleep HF3650/60 for its documented 30-minute color sunrise and RelaxBreathe feature. Choose Beurer WL 65 Wake+Charge when overnight phone charging is the deciding requirement. Stay with Hatch Restore 3 if integrated routines, phone-free operation and access to Hatch’s expanded audio library justify its hardware and optional subscription cost.
