Gundam Blitz Order is not a discontinued game looking for a replacement. As of 18 October 2026, Bandai Namco has announced it as a free-to-play idle simulation game for iOS and Android, but it has not entered established live service. Its network test is scheduled for 18–24 November 2026 (Japan Standard Time) and is limited to 500 participants. If you want a Gundam game to play now, SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL is the best official alternative: it offers broad Mobile Suit and character collecting, squad building and an Auto-Mode, although it remains a strategy RPG rather than a fully unattended idle game.
What “after Gundam Blitz Order” means right now
The wording matters because Gundam Blitz Order has not shut down and has not been replaced. Bandai Namco’s 15 October 2026 announcement presents it as the Gundam series’ first idle game, with an iOS and Android release planned as a free-to-play title. The public network test is scheduled for 18–24 November 2026 JST and lists a capacity of 500 participants. Until that test and a later launch, there is no established live-service version for everyone to download and play.

That makes the practical question: Which Gundam or mecha game can provide collecting, upgrading and lower-friction squad play while I wait? On the currently documented options, the answer is SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL. It is the closest Gundam-native choice for mobile players, but its Auto-Mode supports a strategy campaign; it does not reproduce Blitz Order’s promise of resources accumulating while you are away.

Always-progressing mode
The idle mode automatically battles and stores upgrade materials for up to 24 hours. The storage limit means the game is designed for periodic check-ins: leave it running, return before the window is wasted, and claim the accumulated materials. The announcement does not establish how quickly materials accrue, what happens after 24 hours, or whether the mode continues while the app is closed, so those details should not be treated as confirmed features.
Active battle mode
The second loop requires team formation and tactical decisions. Blitz Order lists six unit classes—Guardian, Striker, Assault, Artillery, Sniper and Support—so role coverage is a central part of assembling a team. The announced content also includes EX skills, boss battles, warship escort missions and player-versus-player (PvP) content. These features suggest a game that combines routine automation with moments where composition and decisions matter, rather than an experience with no player input at all.
How the design differs from a conventional idle game
Many idle games make the offline loop the main event. Blitz Order’s description instead separates unattended material generation from active battles. You would still need to decide how to build a roster, assign classes and approach difficult encounters. Because the game is still in announcement and network-test stages, its final progression speed, summon rules, PvP structure and regional launch schedule remain unconfirmed.
Best current Gundam alternative: SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL
SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL is the strongest choice for someone who wants to play a Gundam collecting and development game on a phone today. Its official system description lets you use units and characters from the original series, form squads and experience the strategy gameplay associated with the G Generation series. The franchise spans multiple Gundam series, allowing a collection built around favorite Mobile Suits and pilots instead of a single show’s roster.
What you collect and develop
ETERNAL treats three categories as progression targets:
Rank #2
- The latest internal frame design features a semi-monocoque structure, letting you experience the process of building a Mobile Suit
- The joint structure, returning to the original design, incorporates a new mechanism where the parts that look like joints bend properly by reinterpreting the movable axis
- The legs, inspired by the close combat MS Gundam that it's known for, use composite frame joints to create a human-like outline even when moved
- Details are intricately carved into parts not visible from the outside, such as joints and the backs of parts. Noticeable mounting holes have been removed, resulting in a seamless, integrated design
- The product box will have a Bandai Namco warning label, which is proof that you are purchasing an officially licensed product
- Units: Mobile Suits and other combat units can be captured in stages or obtained through Development.
- Characters: Pilots and other characters are acquired through scouting and paired with units.
- Supporters: Supporter items or characters can be obtained through events and add another layer to squad construction.
All three categories can be upgraded. Development is especially important for players who enjoy turning one machine into another or planning a route through a roster, while scouting gives character collection its own progression track. The official material does not provide a complete list of units, rates, upgrade costs or event schedules, so those values can vary and should be checked in the live game for your region.
Squad format
A squad consists of five unit-and-character sets plus one supporter. That fixed structure gives you a clear planning problem: choose five pairings, then use the supporter slot to reinforce the plan. It is more structured than simply placing a large number of units on a field, and it makes both roster breadth and pairing choices relevant.
Auto-Mode without calling it idle
ETERNAL includes Auto-Mode to make smartphone play easier. Auto-Mode can reduce repetitive input during stages, but the game is still described officially as a Gundam strategy game. You should expect to make development, scouting and squad decisions, and you should not assume that materials will accumulate for 24 hours when you are away. In practical terms, ETERNAL is a good fit if you want automation during battles but still want to select stages and manage a campaign.
Availability and monetization
The official specification lists ETERNAL as free to play on the App Store and Google Play, with some in-app purchases including loot boxes. Availability can differ by country and storefront, so check the listing for your account’s region before planning around it. “Free to play” describes access; it does not mean every unit, character or supporter is obtained without spending or that all progression has identical costs.

Choose ETERNAL if you want a Gundam game now
ETERNAL is the sensible recommendation when your priority is an active Gundam collection rather than waiting for a test invitation. It has the features most likely to matter to a franchise fan: units and characters from the original series, cross-series roster building, upgrade paths and a defined five-set squad.
It suits deliberate roster builders
Because units can be captured in stages or created through Development, progress is not limited to one acquisition channel. Character scouting and supporter events add separate goals. This gives you choices about whether to focus on a favorite series, strengthen a particular squad or pursue development chains.
It suits players who want less tapping
Auto-Mode reduces the need to direct every action in a smartphone stage. That is useful for routine play, but it does not eliminate campaign management. You still select content, build squads and decide where to spend upgrade resources.
It does not fully replace idle accumulation
If your non-negotiable requirement is to close the app and return to a bank of materials, ETERNAL is not a documented one-for-one replacement for Blitz Order. Its public description confirms Auto-Mode, not a 24-hour idle-storage system. Choose it for automated stage execution and deeper strategy collection, not for guaranteed offline income.
Who should wait for Gundam Blitz Order
Waiting makes sense if the defining appeal is the combination of passive progress and class-based active battles. Blitz Order is the only title in this comparison explicitly promising an always-progressing mode that stores materials for up to 24 hours. Its six classes also provide a clearer role framework than ETERNAL’s publicly described five pairings plus supporter.

- Articulated joints in the torso, hips, and other areas allow for dynamic action poses

Watch the network test details
The scheduled test runs from 18 to 24 November 2026 JST and is capped at 500 participants. A limited test is not a launch guarantee: access, regional eligibility, device requirements and progress carryover can differ from the eventual release. Treat any test participation as an opportunity to evaluate the loop, not proof that the final service will have identical balance or monetization.
Questions the test may answer
- Does automatic progress continue while the app is closed, or only while it is running?
- What happens when the 24-hour material-storage capacity is full?
- How much manual input do boss, escort and PvP battles require?
- How do the six classes interact in a practical team?
- Are EX skills earned through play, purchases, or both?
- What regions, languages and devices are supported at launch?
None of those answers is established by the announcement alone. They are the details that determine whether Blitz Order feels like a genuinely low-maintenance game or a conventional squad battler with an idle resource screen.
Automation: the key difference between the two games
“Auto-battle” and “idle” are not interchangeable. Auto-Mode means the game performs actions during a stage you have entered. An idle loop means progression can continue without directing each encounter and, in Blitz Order’s case, materials can be stored for a defined period.
| If you want… | Better match | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic material generation while you are away | Gundam Blitz Order, once available | Its announced idle mode stores upgrade materials for up to 24 hours |
| Automated actions during phone-based stages | SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL | Its official system page documents Auto-Mode |
| Six explicit combat roles | Gundam Blitz Order | Guardian, Striker, Assault, Artillery, Sniper and Support are announced classes |
| Cross-series Gundam collecting now | SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL | It uses units and characters from the original series and supports capture, Development and scouting |
Collection and squad-building differences
ETERNAL’s collection model is described in concrete terms: capture units in stages, develop units, scout characters and earn supporters through events. The five unit-character sets make the relationship between a Mobile Suit and its pilot part of the squad decision. A supporter occupies an additional slot, so it can influence the team without replacing one of the five pairings.

You know that teams are formed, that units have six classes and that upgrade materials support progression, but not yet how units, pilots or equipment are obtained. Its appeal therefore depends more on the eventual balance between passive growth and active tactical content. ETERNAL offers the clearer plan for a player who wants to map out collection and development goals immediately.

Content variety and long-term goals
Blitz Order’s announced activities
Blitz Order lists four notable activity types beyond routine battles: EX skills, boss battles, warship escort missions and PvP. Bosses and escort missions imply objectives beyond simply defeating a standard wave, while PvP could test class coverage and team construction against other players. The announcement does not state whether PvP is real-time, asynchronous, ranked or optional.
ETERNAL’s documented progression loop
ETERNAL’s long-term structure comes from the breadth of its Gundam roster and the three upgrade categories. You can pursue units through capture and Development, scout characters, collect event supporters and improve each category. The strategy emphasis means the challenge is not only acquiring a favorite Mobile Suit but deciding how it fits into a five-set squad.
Neither public description supplies retention statistics, review scores or performance benchmarks. It would be misleading to claim that one game is more successful, less grindy or technically smoother without evidence.

- Start with ETERNAL if you want a live Gundam game now. Check the App Store or Google Play listing for your country, install it and confirm that your device and account region are supported.
- Set a collection objective. Decide whether your priority is a favorite series, a particular Mobile Suit, a strong five-set squad or Development experimentation.
- Use Auto-Mode for routine stages. Let it reduce repetitive input, then return to squad and upgrade decisions rather than expecting unattended resource storage.
- Track the Blitz Order test window. The announced network test is 18–24 November 2026 JST, with capacity limited to 500 participants. Read the official test conditions before assuming access or progress will carry forward.
- Compare the loops after you can try both. Measure how often each game asks for attention, how quickly upgrade materials arrive, and whether class or squad decisions remain meaningful in difficult content.
What happened to LINE: GUNDAM WARS?
LINE: GUNDAM WARS should not appear on a current “play now” list. Its official site states that service ended at 3 p.m. on 30 June 2026 GMT+9. It can be mentioned as a former Gundam mobile option, but it is not an alternative for someone choosing a game today.
Physical Gundam collecting while waiting
If the attraction is collecting and developing Mobile Suits rather than specifically playing an idle app, a Gundam model kit (Gunpla) is a separate way to spend the waiting period. An SD Gundam model kit can fit the same preference for compact, recognizable designs and a collection that grows over time. Kit grade, tools, price, stock and licensing vary by retailer and region, so treat this as a category idea rather than a recommendation of a particular product.
Common mistakes when choosing a replacement
- Calling every Auto-Mode game idle: Auto-Mode automates actions inside a stage; it does not prove that resources accrue while you are offline.
- Assuming an announcement is a launch: Blitz Order’s 500-person network test is scheduled, but the public information does not establish a general release date.
- Ignoring the 24-hour limit: Even the promised idle loop has a storage ceiling. A player who checks in less often may not collect every possible material.
- Comparing rosters without comparing structure: ETERNAL’s five unit-character sets and supporter slot create a different decision space from Blitz Order’s six named classes.
- Treating free-to-play as cost-free: ETERNAL officially includes in-app purchases and loot boxes. Blitz Order’s final purchase details are not yet stated.
- Using a closed title as a fallback: LINE: GUNDAM WARS ended service on 30 June 2026 and cannot fill the role of a current game.
Verdict
Play SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL now if you want a legitimate Gundam mobile game with broad series representation, unit and character collecting, Development, supporter events and Auto-Mode. Wait for Gundam Blitz Order if its defining promise—automatic progress with up to 24 hours of stored upgrade materials, followed by class-based active battles—is what you specifically want. The two games overlap in collecting and squad management, but they are not the same format: ETERNAL is a playable strategy RPG today, while Blitz Order remains an announced idle simulation approaching a limited network test.
